8:00 There's only one big change in the hour here- ABC's "Extreme Makeover: How'd They Do That?" With the burgeoning popularity of the Sunday series and the weakness of this timeslot so far this season, I wouldn't doubt that this show will do some good numbers in the timeslot, maybe even winning it. "Fear Factor" is not a factor as it once was, and CBS's sitcoms are write-offs. Fox is bascially sticking something in the timeslot, while the WB and the UPN will draw similar numbers to the fall season with their series. 9:00 There are a few changes in play here, the biggest one being "24" over on Fox. Will the show do well in the timeslot? Well, Fox has diminished expectations (witness "The OC" on Thursday), so I'm guessing that anything over 8 million viewers will be okay with the network, but judging from the premiere numbers alone, the show could do alot more than that. The other change is over on ABC and "The Bachelorette," but as "The Bachelor" proved during the fall, the franchise is essentially dead, so if the show draws anything above 7 million viewers, ABC won't be completely disappointed. CBS will win the hour (although there are only 8 original episodes remaining of "Everybody Loves Raymond), with NBC second, Fox third, ABC fourth and the WB and the UPN falling in line after that. 10:00 Two new series so for the kill against "CSI Miami." As "Wife Swap" proved on Wednesdays this season, there is an audience for this type of series again well established procedural dramas, and as "Medium" proved in its debut, it can draw an audience. But will it keep that audience? NBC would love anything over 10 million viewers, so I would expect a second season based on week one alone. |
