The 9
Stars & One
Big Loser
You know the drill. In no particular order. You'll notice alot of CBS,
which is just banging so far in sweeps, a few ABC's, and one WB. What
about
the rest? Fox? You've got to be kidding. NBC? ditto. And as for the
UPN,
I still don't understand how it's even still on the air.
ER
Timeslot:
Thursday 10pm
Viewers:
23.5 million
(season high)
Ranking:
2
Adults
Rating:
11.4/29 (season
high)
Why?
When "ER" airs
a big episode, it
can still draw viewers. Sure, it was more than 3mil viewers out of the
lead, but it drew an 11.4 rating in adults to second place "CSI"s 9.4.
Still though, it has to be kind of bittersweet for NBC- this week last
season "ER" drew 2.4 million more viewers without an episode in which
they
killed off a doctor and spent a bundle promoting. But then again, for
NBC
this season, any news is good news.
The Bachelor
Timeslot:
Wednesday 9pm
Viewers:
18.6 million
Ranking:
8
Adults
Rating:
8.8/21
Why?
Yes, at this
time last year, "The
Bachelor II" went out with 25.9 million viewers. But the last
"Bachelor"
went out to a much less significant 15.1mil viewers and a 7.1/18 rating
in adults. Things are looking good for "The Bachelorette."

Timeslot:

Viewers:
17.5 million
Ranking:
10
Adults
Rating:
4.6/12
Why?
Last season,
CBS couldn't even buy
ratings for its stinky movies. So far this season, only one rated below
10mil viewers (the stinky "Footsteps" with Candice Bergen).
Surprizingly,
this isn't even the highest rated movie CBS has aired this season.
60 Minutes
Timeslot:

Viewers:
17.0 million

Adults
Rating:
4.3/11
Why?
What happens
when an older skewing
newsmag does an hour and a half about porno? Ratings go up. CBS, take
notice.
Third Watch
Timeslot:
Friday 10pm
Viewers:
10.3 million
Ranking:
45
Adults
Rating:
3.6/11
Why?
Sure, it's not
"SVU," but after a
disasterous start to the season with "Boomtown," "Watch" hit a slot
high
3.6/11 in adults, only about 1 ratings point off what "SVU" drew there
last season. Compare that with "Boomtown"s 50% decline.

Take an aging
Thursday drama and
stick it on Sundays, and suddenly it finds new life. Now in it's second
season on Sundays, it's the only WB series actually up over last season.

Why?
I know it's
wrong to pick on the
already dead, but come on... When a show loses 56% of it's lead-in in
viewers
and adults, what can you say?
