As nicer weather returned to most of the country, viewers tuned out the
soap operas, but none of the drops was too severe. "GH" lost four
tenths
of a rating week over week, but is still up 12% since last season. In
fact,
only two soaps were on the decline, "Days" and "Y&R," but even they
are only down by marginal amounts.

There was almost no change in the ratings for this category. NBC used
to
win this demo by a comfortable margin and own women 18-34. This week,
all
three nets tied at a 2.1/13 in this demo, a very strong performance,
while
NBC took the younger women with a 2.5/15 rating to CBS's 1.7/11 and
ABC's
1.4/9. There is a fundamental shift going on in this demo to note: CBS
is getting younger, and ABC older. ABC used to be a hotbed for younger
viewers, while older viewers stuck with CBS's staid soaps. Now the
opposite
is true.
