| The
Fall Prospects:
WB (Wednesday,
March
13, 2002)
The
WB has some
solid performers, but a whole lot of problems. It's getting routinely
beaten
by the UPN, a shame in itself, and has managed only two new hits this
season
in "Smallville." and "Reba." The goal next season will be a return to
5th
place glory.
Already
Renewed:
7th Heaven, Gilmore Girls, Smallville, Reba
Sure to be
renewed:
Charmed, Angel, Dawsons Creek
Not Yet
Renewed:
Glory Days, Sabrina, Maybe It's Me, Raising Dad, Off Centre, The Jamie
Kennedy Experiment
Their Fates:
Of all of them, I can't really see any of them coming back for sure.
"Sabrina,"
"Maybe It's Me" and "Raising Dad" are the most likely candidates.
Mondays: "7th
Heaven" continues to be the net's top rated series but far, and that
won't
likely change. 9pm is a question mark. The WB needs to stop trying to
get
young, hip shows to work here and go with something more family
oriented,
like "Heaven."
Tuesdays: Although
it's line-up is the nets top rated night of the season, it's not going
to stay in tact.
The
WB needs
the hits elsewhere. "Gilmore Girls" will likely stay at 8pm, to be
followed
by what, I'm not sure.
Wednesdays: "Dawsons
Creek" continues to erode, albeit slowly. Still, it's a good lead-off
show,
and I can't see it being moved unless the WB wants to air "Smallville"
at 8pm.
Thursdays: This
night is falling into the toilet this season: it's time to do
something.
But throwing "Smallville" in at 8pm, it would launch the entire night.
Find a good show for 9pm, and you've got a night.
Fridays: The
shows on this night are performing well, they just need to be put in a
different order. "Reba" would do well at 8pm, switching it with
"Sabrina."
And unless the WB had some really good sitcoms up its sleeve, I suggest
leaving "Maybe It's Me" and "Raising Dad" alone.
Sundays:
This is the disaster night. The WB has to junk the idea of running
sitcoms
on the night, it just isn't working. I'd like to see "Ripley's Believe
It Or Not!" come back to 7pm, it performed decently in the slot.
"Charmed"
could go in at 9pm, it would certainly perform better than the sitcoms
have. At 9pm, find another drama.
