Predictions
Fox
Like
always,
Fox got off to a slow start, but then took off in the spring. Next year
will probably be no exception,
Series To Work
With: Joe
Millionaire, American Idol, 24, That 70s Show, Cops, America's Most
Wanted,
King of The Hill, The Simpsons, Malcolm In The Middle
Probables: Boston
Public, The Bernie Mack Show, Wanda At Large, John Doe, Oliver Beene
Monday: Though
"Boston Public" is down at 8pm,. it's not out. "Joe Millionaire" will
be
rushed to air at 9pm, but following that, it's anybody's guess. Maybe
Fox
will try another new Kelley drama, or maybe not.
Tuesday: "Idol"
will be back mid-season, but before that, Fox could try anything at
8pm.
Maybe It'll move "Wanda At Large" up to 8pm followed by a new series,
at
least until midseason.
Wednesday: Wednesday
is rocking right now, but the memories of early season horror still
linger
at Fox. Keeping "Bernie Mack" at 9pm is a no-brainer, and "That 70s
Show"
is a lock for 8pm. In between, at least until "Idol" comes back, look
for
new sitcoms.
Thursday: A
totally wasted night, Thursday is a complete disaster for Fox. It
should
go with sitcoms on the night, it had modest success with them way back
when. Say, for instance, a repeat comedy wheel at 8pm, followed by a
neutral
(yes, even boring and uncreative) sitcom at 8:30pm followed up by a new
drama. Sure, it won't do well, but after "The Pulse" set the bar at
just
2.8mil viewers this spring, anything has to be better than that. Or if
the second "Joe Millionaire" is as big as the first, repeats will
likely
go in at 8pm, maybe to be followed by a new reality series.
Friday: They
say John Doe is working, eh? Regardless of what you may think, 5.5mil
viewers
is not good. But still, what option has Fox got? "Doe" at 8pm
followed
by a new drama.
Saturday: The
only night on Fox's sched that it will not touch. Then again, this is
Fox, so you never know.
Sunday: I
bet that this season Fox will completely give up on 7pm and just rerun
episodes of "The Simpsons" in the half hour. The only change will
likely
come at 9:30pm with a new sitcom. Or Fox could fix that problem and
bump
"Malcolm" back to 9:30pm and try the new series at 9pm.
