The Soap Opera Ratings (week ending August 11th)
Take a long look at these ratings. They are not good.

Households
                                Rating  Share      % Last Year
 1  Young & The Restless   4.7   17    CBS     -19
 2  Days Of Our Lives      3.7   12    NBC     -12
 3  Bold & The Beautiful   3.5   11    CBS     -20
 4  General Hosptial       3.2   11    ABC     -15
 5  As The World Turns     3.0   10    CBS     -21
 6  All My Children        2.9   10    ABC     -18
 7  One Life To Live       2.8    9    ABC     -15
 8  Guilding Light         2.7    9    CBS     -25
 9  Passions               2.4    8    NBC       -
10  Port Charles           1.6    6    ABC      -6

A week after ratings seemed to be on the upswing, every single soap was down week over week.
"B&B" recorded its worst ratings ever, while "AMC" and "OLTL" continue to flirt with series lows. Only "Passions" held face.
The losses over last year were astounding also. To put it in prespective, if these losses hold contant until next summer, this is what the ratings would look like:

Households
                                Rating  Share      % Last Year
 1  Young & The Restless   3.8   12    CBS     -19
 2  Days Of Our Lives      3.3   10    NBC     -12
 3  Bold & The Beautiful   2.8    9    CBS     -20
 4  General Hosptial       2.7    9    ABC     -15
 5  As The World Turns     2.4    8    CBS     -21
    All My Children        2.4    8    ABC     -18
One Life To Live       2.4    8    ABC     -15
    Passions               2.4    8    NBC       -
 9  Guilding Light         2.0    7    CBS     -25
10  Port Charles           1.5    6    ABC      -6

You may be thinking, this sounds ridiculous. But then again, so would it have last summer if anybody were to say that veterans "AMC" and "OLTL" would struggle to break a 3.0 for most of the summer, "Y&R" wouldn't even be at a 5.0, and most soaps would be off up to 25% in just one year. Something to think about.

Sadly, "Passions" highest ranking in this demo ever came during the week when "Timmy" (Josh Ryan Evans) died. Behind the increase, "Passions" found itself in 4th place in the demo, pretty good for the 9th rated soap. "AMC" found itself in dire straights as it slipped to 7th, "GH" stayed in the second position, and the low rated "OLTL" tied for fourth.

Nothing to see here. The same old, same old. but, for the record, in the recently wrapped July sweeps, NBC won for the the first time ever in households, women 18-49, 18-34 and 25-54. As if to complete its total dominance of daytime, "Days" ranked an overwealming first in both women 18-49 and 18-34. In fact, in this demo, "Days" has won for the past 7 years, every single week save one. "Passions" was second in 18-34s and fifth in 18-49's.
