Chapter 8: Marry Me?
"Luis what are you saying." "Sheridan what I am trying to say is will you marry me?" "Luis I don't know what to say."
"Sheridan I know this is kind of sudden but I love you and
when Hank pointed the gun to my chest I realized that if I died I would never be able to hold you in my arms or kiss you ever again." Sheridan was so touched that tears trickled down her cheeks. "Oh Luis, of course I will marry you" Sheridan pulled Luis in for a passionate kiss. Luis wrapped his arms around Sheridan's waist and pulled her closer.
Sheridan broke off the kiss and said, "Luis I hate to have to stop kissing you, but when am I going to get out of
this hospital?" "Oh I almost forget to tell you that Doctor Jenkins said that you can be released from the hospital today." "That's great, we can go to my cottage and start packing." "Packing???" "Yes, we are going to Spain."
"Spain? You're kidding right" "No, we are going to spend our honeymoon there" "Our honeymoon? Whoa! Sheridan we just got engaged and now you want to elope."
"Luis, my family will never approve of this marriage and besides I already booked us a flight to Spain a few days ago." "Ok Sheridan lets get married" "I will just call Theresa and tell her and the family not to worry. Then we
will sign your release papers and we will stop by your cottage to pack." Luis kissed Sheridan quickly on the lips and ran off to call Theresa. Luis picked up the pay phone and dialed his home number. "Hello, Lopez-Fitzgerald Residence, Theresa speaking" "Hi Theresa it's me Luis I am going to be gone for a couple of days, so don't worry about me. Give Miguel and Mama my love, bye"
"Whoa Luis! What did you just say? Where are you going?"
"To Spain with Sheridan it will only be for a few days"
"Luis what are you up to?" "Nothing Theresa, just tell Miguel and Mama I love them, bye" "Bye Luis" He hangs up the phone and went to sign the release papers. Sheridan grabbed his hand and they headed to Luis' car. "So Luis what did you tell your family?" ”Oh nothing much, just that I was going to Spain for a few days with you" "Ok, as long as you didn't tell Theresa anymore more than that." "I didn't I swear.
Come on let's get moving we have a plane to catch. What time is our flight leave anyway?" "In two hours, its flight 365 to Spain departing at Gate 3 at 8:00pm" Sheridan said. Back at the Lopez-Fitzgerald residence Theresa was telling Miguel and Pilar the news about Luis' plans. "Oh my God Theresa, are you sure you heard correctly." "Yes mama, Luis said he was going to Spain with Sheridan for a few days." "Theresa I get the feeling that those two are up to something."
Two hours later:
The announcer said "Flight 365 to Spain is now boarding passengers from rows 1-12" "Come on Luis, that's us" Sheridan said "Do we have everything?" "Yes, Luis I have enough clothes and we will have to buy you some clothes in
Spain." "Ok, then lets get going" Luis and Sheridan walked hand in hand while they boarded the plane. They quickly found their seats and buckled up there seat belts. Twenty
minutes later the plane started to move. The engines roared and the plane slowly moved down the runway. It geared up and it took off.
Once they were in the air Sheridan turned to Luis and said "Maybe we should call your family and let them know we are getting married." "But Sheridan you said you didn't want to tell anyone." "I know Luis, but I am sure you're family would approve of us getting married." "We will call them once we get in Spain, but..." Just then the plane started to rock back and forth. "Luis what's going on." "Don't worry Sheridan its just some minor turbulance." The plane shook violently and the oxygen masks dropped.
"Oh my god! Luis where not going to make it"
"Yes we are Sheridan everything is going to be alright."
Luis and Sheridan placed the oxygen masks over their mouths. Suddenly, the pilot's voice came on. "Folks, this is your captain speaking. We seem to be experiencing some
engine difficulties. Please remain calm and stay in your seats." Everyone abroad the plane started to panic and scream. Children were crying and everyone was distraught. The lights of the plane went off and Luis and Sheridan sat in silence. Then Sheridan said to Luis "I love you Luis"
"I love you too, Sheridan"
