Chapter 1:

*I do not own any of the characters on the show Passions, nor do I claim to. I don't own the singers of the songs listed in this story either. In fact, I'm just a broke college student that doesn't have two nickels to rub together. So, if you would like to sue, I guess you'd get about one nickel, my textbooks, or a hefty stack of bills!

Sheridan walked into the Youth Center. She only had 10 more hours of community service left to serve, and they were flying by way too fast. The last couple of weeks had been a mixture of highs and lows. The bright points were the ones she spent with Luis. She had had the best time on their date and couldn't remember the last time she'd had that much fun. Then, there was Hank. She always seemed to get herself into a bind where Hank Bennett was concerned, and that was definitely a low. Granted, he was a very nice guy, but she just wasn't interested. He always seemed to be sneaking up on her and making her feel awkward…especially around Luis. 'Mental note to self…look before speaking!' She also had to endure listening to Beth ask Luis about their future…that's the one time she was glad that Hank came around so she wouldn't have to hear the answer. She loved spending time with Luis, but she wasn't sure what he felt, and that uncertainty scared her to death.

Sheridan let out a sigh and walked into Luis' office. She didn't see him in there, so she made her way into the gym. There was still no sign of Luis and she walked past the locker rooms. She felt her cheeks turn crimson as she thought about when she walked in on Luis naked and the dream she'd had about them together in the steamy locker room. "God it's hot in here." "Sheridan," Luis called from behind her. "LUIS! Don't sneak up on me like that! You scared me half to death." Luis snickered at her and flashed his million-watt smile. " Sorry. What were you so deep in thought about," he inquired. "Um, n-n-nothing." She felt her cheeks turning red again. "I just forgot to drink coffee this morning, so I guess I'm a little out of it." "Are you sure?" Luis asked. "Yep. That's it. In fact, I think that I'll go to the Book Café and get a coffee right now so I can snap out of this. You want one?" Luis smiled at her and thought about how cute she was whenever she was acting nervous. "Sure, that would be great. In fact, I can come with you if you want." Sheridan was about to jump on the chance, but realized there was a possibility that they could run into Beth, and she couldn't stomach seeing her fawn all over Luis and say how perfect they would be together this early in the morning. "No, I'll just run over there really quick and bring the coffee back here." "Okay, whatever you want to do," Luis replied. "OK, I'll be right back then…Bye." "Bye."

Luis took this opportunity to pull himself together. Whenever he was around Sheridan all sense of reason seemed to fly out the window. He hated the way Hank acted around Sheridan and didn't want him to date her, but what claim did he have on Sheridan? If he acted that way, he'd be just like Hank and he certainly didn't want to act that way. He and Hank had been best friends for as long as he could remember, but he was really getting tired of his childish antics and the manner in which he pursued Sheridan. She isn't a trophy to be won. 'Don't forget the way he likes to flaunt it in your face either!' Luis picked up the basketball and squeezed it pretending that it was Hank's head. He decided to shoot around until Sheridan got back.

Upon returning to the Youth Center, Sheridan found Luis in the gym shooting baskets. He didn't see her come in, so she decided to return the favor and sneak up on him. She sat the coffee and the muffins down and put her purse and coat on the chair. She quietly walked up behind Luis and ran around stealing the ball from him and going in for the lay-up. "Nice shot, sneaky!" Luis said. Sheridan smiled sweetly at him. "It was wasn't it? I still remember the last time we played." "Yeah, well, you cheated," he said half mocking. "I did no such thing, Luis…I will have you know that I worked VERY hard and I was so sore for three days that I could hardly move." Luis smiled at her earnest attempt to defend herself. "What? What is that suspicious smile for?" Sheridan asked. "Nothin'…did you get the coffee?" "Uh, yeah, that is why I went to the Book Café." "Well okay smartass!" Luis teased. "That's Ms. Smartass to you, and don't you forget it," she joked back. Luis threw the ball down on the floor and they walked into his office.

"Here, I got you a muffin too." "Thanks, Sheridan, these are my favorite." "No problem, Luis. So, what is on the agenda today? I can't believe that I only have 10 hours left." At the mention of the 10 hours, Luis felt his heart sink. He knew that he could see her if he wanted to, but it was the principle of her not being around all the time that made him sad. 'Why can't I just suck it up and tell her how I feel before Hank gets in the way?' "Luis…hello? Houston, come in Houston. Houston do you copy?" Sheridan asked as she waved her hand in front of Luis' face. "Huh? I'm sorry, Sheridan, did you say something?" "Yeah, space cadet, welcome back to Earth. Where were you just now?" "Uh, I'm not sure," Luis lied. "I think that I need to drink more of my coffee. My brain is not functioning properly today." Sheridan picked up the Harmony Herald just as Luis was going for it. "Ha! Beat ya to it!" Sheridan teased. "Hey…first you steal my basketball and now you're stealing my newspaper?" "Yup!" Luis started to pout, so Sheridan offered him a section of the paper. "Here's half, Luis…don't be such a baby." Luis looked at her and started to protest but decided against it. 'She is unlike any woman that I've ever met. She's everything all rolled up neatly into a package…make that a BEAUTIFUL package…ARGH! Stop it Luis.'

Luis was shaken from his reverie at the sound of Sheridan squealing about something. "What is it, Sheridan?" "Well, the Harmony Herald informs me that the Rialto is playing my favorite movie for one night only tonight." "And what movie might that be?" Luis asked. "Grease!" "Grease?" he asked. "That is your favorite movie?" "Yes it is…well, one of them. I mean, who doesn't like "Grease?" Luis flashed his toothy grin at her. "I don't think I've ever seen it." "WHAT? Are you kidding? That's almost sacrilegious, Luis…it's like a rite of passage!" Luis rolled his eyes. "You sound like Theresa. She loves that movie." "So…" Sheridan said. "So…?" Luis replied. "So, do you want to go to the movies with me tonight, Officer?" 'I can't believe I just did that…wow! I didn't even think about it for once, it just came out!' "Is Sheridan Crane asking ME out on a date?" Luis enjoyed teasing her. He found her to be even more attractive when she was embarrassed. "As a matter of fact, I am. Come on, whattaya say, Luis? My treat…I'll even throw in popcorn and Goobers." She smiled at him and waited for his answer. 'Please says yes! Please say yes!' "Well…I have to work at the station tonight, is there a late movie?" Sheridan checked the paper to see if there was. "Um, yeah, there is one that starts at 10:45." "Make it Milk Duds and you've got yourself a date." Sheridan giggled at him. "Great." Luis looked at her and couldn't tear his eyes away. She met his gaze and they got lost for a moment until they heard a knock on the office door.

"Hey Luis. Sheridan…good morning! You look radiant as always." Hank said cheerily as he walked into the office. Sheridan rolled her eyes and Luis saw and tried to stifle his grin. "Hey buddy," Luis replied. "Hi Hank," Sheridan said unenthusiastically. Again, Luis tried not to laugh. The look on her face was priceless. "So beautiful, what are your plans for this evening?" 'God, please don't let me throw up right now!' "Well, Hank, Luis and I have a date. Don't we Luis?" 'That was kind of mean, but I'm sick of him. I'll say some Hail Mary's later, I promise.' Hank glared at Luis. "Is that true, Luis? Did you ask Sheridan out tonight?" Luis was about to respond but Sheridan chimed in. "Actually Hank, I asked Luis out tonight." Luis was laughing inwardly. 'She sure has a lot of spunk. I like it. I will apologize for this later, but I'm glad that Hank got that smug expression wiped off of his face. That is annoying as hell!' "You asked him out?" Hank asked. 'Hello…are you hard of hearing?' "Yes, I asked him out." "Well, okay then. I guess I will see you guys later. Bye." Hank turned around and left without hearing them respond.

Once Sheridan heard the door to the Youth Center close she let out a groan in frustration. Luis busted out laughing. He couldn't hold it in any longer. "What are you laughing at, Luis?" "You." "Me?" "Yeah, you. The look on your face was absolutely priceless when Hank came in. I thought I was going to choke on my coffee." Sheridan smiled at Luis. He was just too cute not to. "Luis, can I tell you something and know that it will just stay between us?" Luis stopped laughing and tried to be serious. "Sure, you know you can tell me anything. What's up?" Sheridan paused before speaking and took a deep breath. "Okay, here goes. Hank drives me insane." Luis tried not to smile. "He always embarrasses himself around me and I just want to tell him to knock it off because if he could see himself, I think he'd probably kick his own ass." At the mention of this, Luis couldn't do anything but laugh. Sheridan smiled. "Luis, I'm serious…there's more." "Okay, Sheridan…continue," he managed to spit out between laughs. "I think that he is a really nice guy and he likes to have fun, but lately it seems as though he's on a quest to go out with me, and it really unnerves me…almost to the point where it creeps me out." She almost didn't go on with this next part, but figured she was laying everything else out on the table today, so why not this too. "I also felt really uncomfortable when you came in the other day and he rubbed in your face that we had a date. I'm sorry for that. It was really unnecessary."

"Sheridan, don't worry about that. That's how Hank is. He turns everything into a competition with me. It doesn't matter what it is, but he has to feel like he has the upper hand in everything where I'm concerned. I mean, he has been one of my best friends for as long as I can remember, but that's just who he is, and I accept that." "I think he is a great guy too, Luis, but I don't want to lead him on or give him the wrong impression. He doesn't take the hint too well does he?" Sheridan asked. Inside, Luis was elated. 'Sheridan doesn't want to go out with Hank. Could that mean that she wants me? Oh, don't get your hopes up.' Luis replied, "When Hank wants something, he goes after it. It's not hard to see why he would go after a beautiful and smart woman like you." 'DOH! Why did I just say that out loud?' Sheridan smiled shyly at him. "Thank you," she said. "You're welcome. Now, let's finish these muffins and get to work." He smiled at her again. "Okay, Luis. You're the boss."

Sheridan was in the gym picking up the equipment that was left out from yesterday and Luis was in his office working on some paper work. Sheridan thought back to when she was sentenced to serve 100 hours at the Youth Center. At the time, she thought that many hours with Luis would seem like an eternity in the fiery pits of hell. She smiled thinking about how much they had changed since then. She now wished that she had been sentence to 200 hours or more so she would have an excuse to see Luis everyday. Luis was in his office thinking about the same thing. 'I can't believe that Sheridan only has 10 hours left to serve. Actually, she'd be done right now if I hadn't lied about how many hours she had. I'm not sorry I did that. I just didn't want to think about her not being around all the time.' He was so lost in thought that he didn't hear Sheridan come into the office.

"Luis? Helllloooo!" Luis didn't look up and seemed to be spacing again. "LUIS!" she yelled. Luis jumped and spilled some of his coffee. "Damn. Huh? Oh, Sheridan, hey." Sheridan laughed at him. "Luis, what is wrong with you today? I've never seen you like this." "Um, nothing's wrong, I just have a lot on my mind." "Well, I guess what I wanted to talk to you about can wait then," Sheridan said. "No, that's okay, what did you want to talk about?" "Well, I was thinking about how my hours are almost up, and I thought that I could plan something for the kids before I leave." At the mention of her leaving, Luis felt himself get sad again. 'Luis, stop it. You are going to see her again. Hell, you have a date with her tonight.' "What did you have in mind?" he replied. "I read in the paper about the big game between the Hellcats and the Vipers next week, and I thought that after the game we could have a dance here." "I think that's a good idea, Sheridan." Luis smiled at her. "Great. I will plan the dance then," she said cheerily. "That will be my last project," she stated as the tone in her voice fell.

"Well, you've done a lot of work today, so why don't you just take the afternoon off." "Luis, I am capable of working more than three consecutive hours," she said a bit more harshly than she meant to. "Sheridan, I'm very aware of how capable you are, and I wasn't trying to imply anything by that. I just figured that since you will be planning the dance, you might be pushing the limit on your hours." "I'm sorry. I didn't mean to snap at you. But, it doesn't matter about the hours. If it takes me 20 hours to plan the dance, it takes me 20 hours to plan the dance. It won't bother me in the least." "Okay. But you can still have the afternoon off if you want. I have to get to the station soon anyway." "All right Luis. Seeing as you are trying to get rid of me, I guess I will go home," she teased. "So, what time do you get off at the station tonight?" "Around 9:00. What time do you want me to pick you up tonight?" Luis asked. "You pick me up? No, no, no…I asked you out remember? I'll pick YOU up." Luis laughed at her. "Okay, so what time are you picking ME up?" "I'll be there about 10:15, so be ready." Sheridan replied. "Yes ma'am. Now, get outta here," Luis said jesting. "See ya tonight, Luis. Bye." Sheridan waved and walked out the door. "Sheridan Crane." He thought about going out with her tonight and smiled for what seemed like the thousandth time that day.

Chapter 2:

Sheridan just stepped out of the shower when she heard the phone ringing. She checked the caller ID and saw that the call was coming in from the main house. She didn't pick it up in case it was Julian and he wanted to tell her yet again to stay away from Luis. She just wasn't in the mood and let it ring. Sheridan was rummaging through her closet looking for something to wear. Since it was the movies, she didn't think that it was necessary to dress up, so she put on blue jeans and a tight white shirt and pulled out her black leather jacket. (No, not the one with the fur! That thing is hideous!) The phone rang again and saw the call as out of area and those were usually telemarketers, so again she let the phone ring. When the answering machine clicked on, she heard her father's voice telling her to pick up the phone because he knew she was there. 'Forget it. If he calls back I'll just say I was drying my hair and I didn't hear the phone. I'm not going to let them tell me I can't see Luis. I'm a grown woman for God's sake.' When she was ready she grabbed her leopard purse and headed out the door.

Luis returned home from his day at Harmony PD and he too had dodged inquisitions about his date with Sheridan. First it was Sam, and then when he got home, he heard it from his mother. He loved his mother very much, but wished she would just stay out of it. He told her they weren't flying off to Vegas to get hitched; they were just going to see a movie. He of course apologized for being out of line, and he knew she was just looking out for him, but he was so sick of everyone telling him how getting involved with Sheridan would be a disaster. 'How could getting involved with such a wonderful woman be anything but terrific? It's my life. I'm a grown man for God's sake…I can go out whomever I want.' He took a quick shower and shaved. He put on jeans and a black turtleneck sweater. He put on some cologne and then he heard the doorbell.

Miguel answered the door and let Sheridan in. "Hey Sheridan." "Hi Miguel. How are you?" "I'm good. Luis should be out in just a second. This is kinda strange you picking him up for a date." Sheridan smiled at him. "Why is it strange? This is a new millennium, and if a girl wants to ask out a boy and pick up her date, it's her prerogative." Miguel laughed. "Luis was right about you." "Was he…what did he say about me?" she asked with a raised brow. Sheridan's curiosity was peaked now. Luis heard Miguel and decided to save Sheridan from this. "Hey Sheridan. Miguel, don't you have something else to do?" Sheridan fought back her grin. "Um, no not really." "Yeah, Miguel was just about to tell me something interesting and I'd really like to hear it," Sheridan said. "Wow, look at the time. I think we should get going. We don't want to be late for the movie," Luis said back. "Smooth Officer. I guess you're off the hook this time. Miguel, it was great seeing you again." "You too, Sheridan. You guys have fun. See ya, bro," Miguel said with a smile. Luis turned around and mouthed "you're dead" and Miguel just laughed at him. 'I know why Luis likes her so much. WOW!'

Sheridan and Luis were walking out to her car. "What, no flowers?" Luis teased. Sheridan smacked him playfully on the arm. "Hey, I threw popcorn and Goobers into the deal…" "MILK DUDS," he corrected. "Oh right. Milk Duds. I threw popcorn and Milk Duds into the deal. What more do you want?" she joked back. 'Oh I have a few ideas. Get a hold of yourself man.' Luis opened her door for her. "Thanks, Luis." He got into the car and she started it up and forgot she had the stereo turned way up. Suddenly, Ants Marching by Dave Matthews was playing. "BIG DAVE MATTHEWS FAN HUH?" Luis said loudly. Sheridan turned the music down. "I'm sorry. I just love that song, and when I hear it, I have to turn it up. I forgot to turn it down before I got out of the car." "That's okay. I love that song too. This is a great CD." "Yeah, it's one of my favorites," Sheridan replied. Ants Marching was over and the next song Lover Lay Down came on. Sheridan felt herself thinking about this song and remembered her dreams about Luis. Luis was listening to the song too and he felt himself get hot. "Is it hot in here?" they said simultaneously. They both laughed. Sheridan and Luis both reached to turn the heat down and brushed hands. She felt the electricity shoot through her at that moment. "Uh, sorry, the heater in this car is a little whacked. I really should have it looked at," she said.

"So, are you excited about seeing this movie or what, Luis?" Luis chuckled at her. "Oh yeah. Theresa and Whitney already went to the early show so I heard them singing the songs while I was getting ready." "Well, you will like it so much that you will be singing the songs too." "I don't know about that, Sheridan. I may be a lot of things, but a guy that walks around singing songs from musicals isn't one of them." "Is that so?" "Yes, that is so, Ms. Crane." "Luis, I happen to know, from a very reliable source, that you had a major role in your high school musical…what was it again? Oh that's right, West Side Story." Luis felt his cheeks glowing red. "How, how did you hear about that?" "Ha, ha, ha…busted!" "Sheridan, who told you about that?" "Pilar." "Aww man…Judas! I'll have you know that I got corralled into doing that, and it wasn't the lead. I didn't play Tony, I was Bernardo." "I'm sure you were a very good Bernardo, Luis…I would've paid big money to see you." Sheridan couldn't contain her laughter any longer and let it out. "You think you're just so funny don't you?" "Well…sometimes…yes I do," she said between her peels of laughter. "Hey, we're here, so you think maybe you could cut me a little slack?" "Oh Luis, I'm just teasing. But okay, I'll stop." "Thank you."

They got out of the car and headed for the Rialto. 'I have to get one last dig in. He's just too cute when he's embarrassed.' "Tonight, tonight, won't be just any night…" Sheridan began singing. Luis stopped in his tracks and just smirked at her. Sheridan turned around and saw Luis smirking at her. "What?" she asked innocently and shrugging her shoulders. "I'm gonna get you for that," he said. "Is that so, Officer?" "Mmm hmm. It certainly is. You won't know where or when, but I will get you back." He finally couldn't hold it back and flashed a huge grin in her direction. 'She's so different than I thought. It's fun to see this side of her.' "Come on, Bernardo, I'll buy you some Milk Duds now." He rolled his eyes at her and she grabbed him by the arm and pulled him in the direction of the snack bar.

After they bought their snacks, they went to find seats. No one else had arrived yet, so they were all alone in the theater. "Are these seats okay Luis?" "Yeah, fine with me." The two got situated in their seats and Sheridan stood up to take her jacket off. 'Wow, I can't believe an outfit that simple looks that good on her.' She sat back down and reached for her drink when she saw Luis staring at her. "What?" "I forgot to tell you how great you look tonight." Sheridan felt herself blushing. "Thank you. You don't look so shabby yourself." 'God, he looks good. What I wouldn't give for us to remain alone in this theater…AAH! Stop it Sheridan.' "Luis?" "Yeah?" Sheridan grinned slyly at Luis before she proceeded with her question. "Will you please sing a little somethin' from West Side Story?" Luis picked up a handful of popcorn and tossed it at her. Sheridan started giggling and she picked up some of the kernels he threw at her and tossed them back. "That's it, Sheridan. I told you I would get you back, and you didn't leave well enough alone. Now, you're gonna have to pay." He reached over and started tickling her and she started laughing and squealing uncontrollably. "Luuuuuuuiiiiiiiiis! Ahaha…STOP! Please…stop…tickling…me!" She managed to sputter between giggles. Luis was laughing too and started throwing more popcorn at her. "Nope. You asked for it, now I'm getting you back."

Sheridan and Luis were laughing loudly and didn't notice someone approaching them. "Excuse me, is there a problem here?" Luis stopped tickling Sheridan and she managed to get her laughing under control. They looked up to see a boy around 16 sporting a vest and matching bow tie. Sheridan tried not to laugh and buried her face into Luis and left him to deal with the boy. "Um, no, there's no problem. We just got a little carried away. Sorry." "Miss, was this man bothering you?" Sheridan looked up. "No, he wasn't bothering me, just getting me back is all. Everything's fine thank you." "Okay, but the movie is about to start and there are more patrons coming in, so if you could please keep it down." "We will, sorry," Luis said. "And if this man gives you any trouble, you can tell me and I'll take care of it," said the boy. Luis covered his mouth with his hand as to not laugh in his face. "Thank you," Sheridan said. They waited until the boy was out of earshot and busted out laughing. "Well, Sheridan, looks like you have an admirer. You want him to be your date tonight?" "And give you reason to arrest me for dating jailbait? I don't think so." She smiled at him and they both began laughing again.

By this time, there were more people in the theater and the movie was about to start. There was a woman a couple of rows in front of them that turned around and asked them to please be quiet. Both Sheridan and Luis found this funny but tried to keep their laughing fits as silent as possible. Sheridan however, was laughing so hard that tears were in her eyes. Once the previews started, she was able to get herself under control. She looked over at Luis and he stuck his tongue out at her. This prompted more laughter from Sheridan and another nasty look from the woman in front of them. She smacked Luis on the arm. "You're so bad." "I know," he replied. "If you keep this up," Sheridan whispered, "I'll go get boy wonder the manager and he can deal with you." Luis just smiled at her. "I'll behave, scouts honor." "Yeah, well, put some Milk Duds in your mouth. That should keep you quiet for awhile." She smiled sweetly at him and turned back to face the movie screen.

The movie was about to start and Luis leaned over and whispered in Sheridan's ear. "If I forget to tell you later, I had a really great time tonight." Sheridan turned her head and her face was inches from Luis'. "Me too." They stared into each other's eyes and started to lean in but the opening number kicked in and they both jumped and the moment was lost.

I solve my problems and I see the light We gotta plug and think, we gotta feed it right There ain't no danger we can go to far We start believing now but we can be what we are

Grease is the word They think our love is just a growing pain Why don't they understand, It's just a crying shame Their lips are lying only real is real We start to find out now we got to be what we be

Grease is the word It's got groove it's got meaning Grease is the time, is the place is the motion Grease is the way we are feeling We take the pressure and we throw away Conventionality belongs to yesterday There is a chance that we can make it so far We start believing now but we can be who we are

Grease is the word It's got groove it's got meaning Grease is the time, is the place is the motion Grease is the way we are feeling Summer Nights began and Sheridan's eyes lit up. She started humming along and swaying in her seat. Luis found her more amusing to watch than the movie. When Greased Lightning came on, Sheridan looked over at Luis and noticed he was singing along and he knew the words. 'Hmm…little liar. He has seen this movie before. Oh, he is something else. I wonder if I should bust him now or after the movie? I'll let it slide, we are already in enough trouble as is with wonder boy.' She couldn't stop thinking about how much fun she was having. Being close to Luis was making it hard to concentrate on the movie. She felt herself staring longer than she meant to and Luis looked over at her. She kept staring at his mouth and longed to kiss him. She was about to say to hell with the movie and just attack him and she started to lean in towards him, but the teenagers sitting next to them got up to use the bathroom and they were, once again, interrupted. 'Ugh, stupid kids.' Luis thought.

The movie was almost over and Sheridan had tried to keep herself from looking at Luis. Then, her favorite song came on, and she just had to sing along.

I got chills they're multiplying And I'm losing control Cause the power you're supplying It's Electrifying!

'It's definitely electrifying being with Sheridan.'

You better shape up cause I need a man And my heart is set on you You better shape up, you better understand To my heart I must be true

'My heart is definitely set on Luis.'

You're the one that I want ho ho ho honey You're the one that I want ho ho ho honey You're the one that I want ho ho ho honey The one that I need oh yes indeed

If you feel the wave affection Your to shy to convey Meditate in my direction Feel your way

I better shape up, cause you need a man (I need a man) Who can keep me satisfied I better shape up, if I'm gonna prove (you better prove) That my faith is justified Are you sure? Yes I'm sure deep down inside

You're the one that I want ho ho ho honey You're the one that I want ho ho ho honey You're the one that I want ho ho ho honey The one that I need oh yes indeed

You're the one that I want ho ho ho honey You're the one that I want ho ho ho honey You're the one that I want ho ho ho honey The one that I need oh yes indeed

After the movie was over, Sheridan and Luis stood up to leave and he helped her with her jacket. He noticed that she had a piece of popcorn in her hair from their little battle earlier and he went to get it out for her. "Hold still." Sheridan saw Luis' hand coming toward her face and wondered what he was doing. 'I hope he kisses me.' "You have…a piece of popcorn in your hair." He got the popcorn out for her and threw it on the ground. She grinned at him. "I wonder how that got there?" "I have no idea," he said sarcastically. "Must've been the popcorn fairy." "The popcorn fairy?" she asked. "Yup." "Luis, you're crazy." 'Yeah, about you.' "Thank you. Shall we go?" "We shall."

They walked out of their movie theater and Luis noticed that little Skippy the manager kept staring at Sheridan. "Hey Sheridan, your boyfriend wants to say goodnight." Sheridan turned around and saw that guy looking at her. She waved to him and the boy dropped the broom he was sweeping up popcorn with. She tried not to laugh and Luis turned his head so he could laugh. Once they were outside, both couldn't contain their laughter any longer. "Luis, we are so bad, you know that right?" "Yeah, but it was fun." "It was fun. I haven't had that kind of fun in I don't know when," Sheridan said. "Me neither. I felt like I was in high school again." "Luis, you lied to me." Luis looked really confused. "What are you talking about, Sheridan?" "The movie. You've seen it before. Don't deny it, I saw you singing Greased Lightning…you knew every word." Luis looked down at his feet and then met Sheridan's eyes. "Okay! I surrender. You caught me. I have seen that movie before." "Were you trying to hide your musical background from me?" she asked teasingly. "Well, I guess if I was, it doesn't matter, because you found me out…on more than one account I might add." She smiled and nodded acknowledging her victory.

"Hey Luis, do you have to work tomorrow?" "Nope, I actually have the entire weekend off. Why?" "Well, I was just wondering if you were tired or not, because I kinda feel like taking a walk." "A walk sounds good." They started walking away from the Rialto and Luis grabbed Sheridan's hand and locked his fingers with hers. Sheridan looked down at her hand and then at Luis and smiled.

They walked through the park still hand in hand talking and getting to know one another better. "Hey Luis, I just got a great idea for the dance." "You did? What is it?" "What about a sock hop?" "A sock hop huh? Did the movie inspire you?" He felt a grin tugging at the corners of his mouth. "As a matter of fact…it did. What do you think? Do you like that idea?" Luis rubbed his chin and hesitated before answering. "I think…it's a great idea." "Good, because it was either that or West Side Story." Sheridan had a huge grin plastered on her face. "I'm gonna get you for that, Sheridan." "Oh will you now? Well, come and get me then, Officer," Sheridan said and then she took off running. Granted Sheridan was a fast runner, but with the boots she had on, they made the task of running difficult so Luis caught up rather quickly. Luis got in front of her blocking the way and she stopped. She was about to take off in another direction, but Luis grabbed her arm. "Uh-uh. You're not going anywhere." Sheridan was about to protest, but Luis pulled her in close to him. He put one hand behind her head and pulled her in and kissed her with everything he had in him. Sheridan responded hungrily. Luis wrapped both of his arms around her waist and she had her hands in his hair.

When the kiss ended, their eyes met and they spoke volumes in that one look. Sheridan was the first to speak. "If that is my punishment for teasing you, remind me to do it more often." Luis smiled and pulled her close to him and hugged her. He didn't want to let go. This night was perfect. 'I'm so glad that I finally kissed her. It was better than I expected…It was perfect. Sheridan rested her head on his shoulder. She didn't want this night to end. 'That was the most amazing kiss. That put all of my fantasies to shame. I want this night to last forever.' She started to think about her family and what they would do, but she forced those thoughts out of her head. If she and Luis were going to have a real relationship, she knew they had a lot of issues to talk about and work through. But, for tonight, it was just about the two of them. No one else in the world mattered.

"Sheridan," Luis began as he pulled out of their hug. "We need to talk." "No, Luis. We're not going to do this now. I have already decided that I want this night to be perfect, so no talk about my family or anyone else who thinks it is a bad idea that we are together…because I don't care what they think, it's what we think that matters the most." She was out of breath after she spit that out as fast as she possibly could. Luis stifled a grin. "Are you finished?" he asked. Sheridan took a deep breath. "Yeah." "Well, good. I know we have a lot to talk about, but that isn't what I was going to ask you." "It isn't?" she asked confused. "Nope. What I wanted to ask you was…will you go to the dance with me?" She felt a big weight lifted from her shoulders. When she didn't answer right away he made puppy dog eyes at her and she felt her heart melt. "Yes, Luis, I would love to go to the dance with you." "Good." He kissed her once more and wrapped her up in another hug. This time he picked her up and swung her around causing squeals of laughter from Sheridan.

"So, you ready for me to take you home, Officer?" "Not especially, but seeing as it is…2:30, maybe we should get home." "Yeah. Let's go." Sheridan held out her hand for Luis to take but he was looking in his coat for something. "What are you looking for, Luis?" "Oh, something that I've had for awhile but forgot to give you." He finally found it and handed Sheridan a tiny white envelope. "What's this?" "Well, open it and find out silly!" Sheridan opened the envelope and pulled out a small Valentine. It had a picture of a monkey on it and it said "I'm bananas for you" and on the back it said "Love, Luis". "Mikey was at the Youth Center last week filling out his Valentine's for all the little girls in his class, so I gave him a pop in exchange for one of the cards. I just forgot to give it to you." Sheridan smiled at him. "This is the best Valentine's card I've ever received. I love it." Sheridan tilted her head up and kissed Luis. "Thank you." "You're welcome." Luis grabbed Sheridan's hand and they walked back to her car.

Sheridan pulled up to the Lopez-Fitzgerald house and walked with Luis to the door. Luis took one of Sheridan's hands and kissed it. "Thank you for a wonderful evening. You are a great date." "Well, thank you for saying yes, you're a pretty terrific date yourself. And thanks for the Valentine. I love it," Sheridan responded. Luis pulled Sheridan in close to him and wrapped his arms around her. He leaned in and kissed her again. "You wanna come inside?" he asked against her mouth. "Mmm, yeah, but I can't. If I come inside, I may never leave." Luis smiled. "That's okay with me." She hit him jokingly on the arm. She kissed him once more. "Goodnight Luis. Call me tomorrow." "I definitely will. Goodnight." He watched her walk to her car and waved goodbye before he went inside.

Luis brushed his teeth and got into bed thinking about his date with Sheridan. He smiled thinking about all of the fun they had and how special she is. He decided to call her and say goodnight.

Sheridan was getting ready for bed and had a mouthful of toothpaste when she heard the phone ring. She looked at the caller ID and it was Luis. She didn't want to miss the call, so she answered as best she could with her mouthful of toothpaste. "Hrlo?" she managed to say. "Sheridan?" "Mrmph." He heard her drop the phone and wondered if everything was okay. Meanwhile, Sheridan ran to the bathroom and spit out her toothpaste and ran back to the phone.

"Luis?" "Sheridan, are you okay?" "Oh, yeah I'm fine. I had a mouthful of toothpaste and I couldn't talk very well, but I didn't want to miss your call." "I see. Well, I just wanted to call and say 'goodnight' and I figured you wouldn't be asleep yet." 'He is so sweet. He thinks of everything.' "Thanks Luis. Nope, I'm not asleep yet. I'm getting into bed as we speak though." 'Well, that definitely paints a picture I can take to my dreams,' Luis thought. "Me too." 'That image is certainly one to send the mind into overdrive!' she thought.

"I had a really good time tonight, Sheridan. I just wanted you to know that." "Well, I'm glad. I had an amazing time tonight, too." Luis grinned on the other end of the phone. "So, Officer, did you call to sing me a lullaby?" Sheridan teased. She heard Luis snickering on the other end. "You had to say that didn't you?" "Mmm hmm…you know how I can be, Luis." "Yes, I'm beginning to realize. You know what that means don't you?" he asked. "Um…that you will give me my punishment the next time I see you?" she asked hopefully. "Cute, very cute. I'm afraid that doesn't work every time. I will just have to find something else." Luis replied. He loved teasing her. "Well, that's a real bummer. What are your plans tomorrow?" "Hmm…I thought that I'd call this beautiful blonde I know and see what she's doing." "Really…anyone I know?" she asked, playing along. "Nah, I doubt it. What about you?" "Well, let's see…I have this dance to plan, and I thought about enlisting the help of this great looking cop, but one never can tell." "I'm sure whoever it is would be crazy to pass up an offer like that." Luis said. "Thank you. Well, I'm gonna turn in." "Me too. Sweet dreams, Sheridan." "You too, Luis. Thanks for calling. Goodnight." "Night." They each hung up the phone and drifted off to sleep.

Chapter 3:

Luis woke up and looked at the clock. It was almost 11:00. He couldn't remember the last time he had slept that late. He also couldn't remember the last time he slept that soundly. He thought about being with Sheridan last night and he felt the smile creep up on his face. He couldn't believe how much fun they had. He had a lot of fun when they went to the Lobster Shack, but this was different. He laughed at some of the events that occurred last night. He couldn't remember a time when he had had that much fun at a movie. He knew it was because of whom he was with, and thinking of her made his smile grow wider. He heard a knock on his door and then saw Miguel stick his head in the room.

"Hey bro, you awake?" "Yeah, Miguel, come on in." "So, how did your date go last night?" Luis smiled again thinking about it. "It was good." "Just good?" Miguel asked. "I'd say by the dopey look on your face that it was better than good." "Okay, it was probably one of the best dates I've ever had," Luis said. "I knew it. I knew you were falling hard and fast for Sheridan Crane." "Yup, it looks that way," Luis replied. "Is there something you need or did you just come in here to ask about my date?" "Well, Mama sent me in here to see if you were alive or not, but I was pretty curious about your date. What are you doing today?" "Well, I thought I'd go for a run and then I'm going to call Sheridan and do something with her later."

"Hey, good deal. Well, I gotta go meet up with Kay." "Kay…why aren't you doing something with Charity?" Luis asked. "Oh, well, I have been feeling bad that I haven't spent anytime with her at all since Charity came to town, so I thought I'd take her to a movie to prove that she's still my best friend." "Really? Are you sure that's all it is?" "Luis, you know what Kay is to me. She's just my best friend…the tomboy next door." "Have you actually looked at her lately, Miguel? Kay is hardly a tomboy anymore. She's growing up into a beautiful young woman." 'He has no idea that she is head over heels in love with him,' Luis thought. 'What? Kay is just my buddy. What is Luis talking about?' "I think that you're just a little loopy from your date last night with the lovely Sheridan. I'm totally into Charity. Kay is just a bud." "Okay Miguel. I'll catch ya later. Oh, by the way, Sheridan is planning a dance after the big Harmony/Vineyard game next week." "Really…that's great. I'll have to ask Charity to go. See ya bro." "Yeah, see ya." Luis got up and got dressed to go for a run.

Sheridan just woke up and couldn't stop thinking about her date with Luis, and especially her kiss with Luis. 'That was so much better than all those times I fantasized about kissing him. I got the real thing.' She smiled and got dressed for her morning, well, make that afternoon run. She grabbed her Walkman and ran out the door.

Sheridan was running on the path in the park and saw a guy stretching that looked like Luis. 'Well, this day is starting off better than I had expected.' She ran over to him and slowed down but didn't stop. "Hey Bernardo, care to be my running partner?" she asked over her shoulder as she ran past Luis. "Sheridan, hey, stop for a second." Sheridan stopped and ran over to him. "What's up. Is something wrong?" "Mmm…nope. I just wanted to tell you good morning." He looked down at his watch. "Make that good afternoon." "Good afternoon, officer." "Oh, I think I have something for you, Sheridan." "Really? What's that?" Luis pulled her in and kissed her fervently and just as she was getting into it, he pulled away and started running. She looked in his direction, stunned by his kiss, but realized this was part of her payback from teasing him. "Luis! Get back here!" She took off running after him trying to catch up.

Luis was laughing to himself. He found it hard to pull away from her, but he had to get her back. He slowed up a little and let her catch up. When she did, she smacked him on the arm. "That was mean." "I know, but I told you I'd get you back." "Yeah, but last time was so much more fun," she whined. "Come on Sheridan, don't get whiney on me," Luis teased." "Oh, just shut up and run," Sheridan tossed back at him. She smiled at him and took off and he caught up to her, and they jogged their three miles together. They ran to Luis' house since it was closer to get some water. Luis was out of breath when they arrived. "I forgot how good of a runner you are." Sheridan was out of breath as well. "Yeah, you're not so bad yourself," Sheridan replied. Luis handed her a bottle of water out of the refrigerator. "Thank you." "No problem. I'm really glad we ran into each other." Sheridan smiled at him. "Me too, Luis. So, are we going to start planning the dance today?" "Sounds like a good plan to me," Luis said. "Great. Would you mind driving me home so I could get cleaned up?" "Sure, let me find my keys." "Okay." Luis walked back into the kitchen. "Hey, would you mind if I just got cleaned up here before I took you home? I'll drop you off and then go run some errands." "That's fine. Take your time." "Okay, you can hang out in my room, or in the living room. It doesn't matter." He flashed his killer smile at her and went to get ready.

Sheridan walked into the Lopez-Fitzgerald living room and looked around. She always felt comfortable when she was in this house. Probably because it was a real home and not the mausoleum the mansion was. She wanted to go in Luis' room…he did say she could, so she walked in there. She looked around his room. It was simple, but comfortable. It looked like a guy's room. She was tired from their run. She had run extra hard to keep up with Luis, and now she was worn out. She still heard the shower running and figured she would just catch a few winks while he finished getting ready. Sheridan lay down on his bed. She inhaled the scent of him on his pillow and felt really close to him at that moment. She closed her eyes and fell asleep.

Luis walked into his room and found Sheridan fast asleep on his bed. He stood for a moment and just watched her. She looked so peaceful. She started to mumble something in her sleep and Luis moved closer to see what she was saying. "Mmm…Luis." Sheridan laughed lightly and rolled over and hugged the pillow close to her. Luis smiled. 'She's dreaming about me.' He decided to wake her up, even though he was thoroughly interested in learning more about Sheridan's dream.

He sat on the edge of his bed and brushed a piece of hair out of Sheridan's eyes. He shook her gently. "Hey sleepyhead, wake up." "Hmm…Luis?" she said through closed eyes. "Yeah, it's me. Wake up." Suddenly Sheridan's eyes were fully open and she was staring Luis straight in the eyes. She forgot where she was. "Luis?" "Um, yeah, Sheridan." "Am I still dreaming?" she asked confused. Luis found it hard to not laugh. "No, you're at my house. You fell asleep while I was in the shower." "The shower?" Sheridan remembered what she was dreaming about and felt her cheeks blush. "You sure are out of it when you fall asleep huh, Sheridan?" Sheridan sat up and remembered why she was there. "Okay, I'm awake now. I can't believe I fell asleep. I guess the run wore me out more than I thought." "Come on, I'll take you home so you can get cleaned up," Luis said. He held out his hands to help Sheridan up. "Thanks Luis."

When they were in the car, Luis was still thinking about hearing Sheridan moan his name in her sleep. "Hey Sheridan?" "Yeah?" "What were you dreaming about earlier?" Luis tried not to smile and give it away. "Dreaming?" she asked. "Yeah, I heard you mumbling something in your sleep. It sounded like a good dream to me." 'God, what did I say in my sleep? I was dreaming about us in the shower at the Youth Center. If I said anything I will be mortified.' "I, uh, I was…dreaming about our date last night," she lied. 'That will have to do. I don't want him knowing I dream about us having sex.' "Oh really? I guess I do have that affect on the ladies." She looked over at him and rolled her eyes at him. She couldn't help but smile at his charm. "I guess you do Luis."

Luis pulled up to Sheridan's cottage and dropped her off. "I have a few errands to run, do you want me to call before I come back over, or what?" "No Luis, I'll leave the door unlocked and you can just let yourself in." She smiled at him. "Okay Sheridan. See you in a little while. Bye." "Bye Luis." She shut the car door and watched him drive away. She unlocked her door and went inside.

Sheridan kicked off her tennis shoes and threw them in her closet. She put her CD player on random and cranked up the volume and then got in the shower. Once she was in the shower, she let her mind wander to the time she and Luis had been spending together. She replayed the memory of Luis kissing her for the first time over and over in her memory. 'I can't believe how wonderful his lips felt against my own.' She sighed happily and decided that she'd been in the shower long enough.

She was looking through her closet for something to wear when she heard her Bruce Springsteen CD begin playing. She loved this CD. It reminded her of her days at boarding school with her friend Annie. They both loved Bruce Springsteen, and everyone else thought they were crazy. She thought back to when they got tickets to his concert and they made a huge banner that said 'ANNIE & SHERRY LOVE BRUCE' to take with them. Sheridan used to hate when people called her Sherry, but for some reason, she didn't care when Annie did it. She really missed her. Annie was always so mischievous and seemed to drag her along when she was in trouble, but she wouldn't trade their friendship for anything. Annie always made boarding school fun. She stirred herself from her own reverie of the past and decided on a pair of jeans and a pink, three-quarter length sleeve shirt. She dried her hair and started putting on her makeup as she was dancing around in her bathroom singing along to her CD.

Luis arrived at Sheridan's cottage and he knocked on the door, but she didn't answer. He figured it was because the music was blaring and she didn't hear him. He let himself in and looked for Sheridan. He could smell her perfume in the air and inhaled deeply. Meanwhile, Sheridan finished getting ready and wanted to get something to drink. She walked out of her room singing, unaware that Luis was sitting on the couch.

Glory days well they'll pass you by Glory days in the wink of a young girl's eye Glory days, glory daaaays

Luis caught this little performance and started laughing. She was still oblivious to the fact that he was there. She was dancing and singing in front of the refrigerator looking for a drink and Luis loved every second of this. 'Who knew Sheridan was a Springsteen fan? The more that I learn about her the more intrigued I am.' He smiled and watched her some more. Sheridan picked up a Coke can from the refrigerator and started to walk back into her room. She turned around and saw Luis sitting on the couch smiling at her.

Upon seeing Luis, Sheridan felt her cheeks turn beet red. 'How long has he been here and how much of that performance did he see? Oh God, I've completely made an ass out of myself.' Luis started clapping. "Bravo Sheridan." This only made her blush even more. "Luis, how long have you been here?" she asked nervously. "Oh, long enough to witness your little performance of 'The Boss'," he said smirking. Sheridan stared at Luis nervously and averted his eyes due to her embarrassment. She walked over to the stereo to turn it down. She returned to the couch and sat down. Luis was still smiling at her. He thought she was so attractive when she was nervous, or in this case embarrassed.

"What?" she asked with a smile. "I had no idea that you were a Springsteen fan." "Well, there's a lot you don't know about me, Officer." "I think you're right, but I enjoy finding out new things ya know." Sheridan finally smiled at him. She had embarrassed him a lot last night, so I guess it was his turn now. "Is that so?" "Yup. So, are you a big fan of 'The Boss' or do you just sort of like him?" "Are you kidding? I LOVE him. He is one of my all time favorites!" she exclaimed. 'God, this woman is amazing.' "Me too." Sheridan laughed. "It looks like we just have lots in common huh?" "It looks that way," Luis said. "Wait right here, I have something I want to show you." Sheridan got up and ran into her room and returned carrying a scrapbook.

She sat down next to Luis and handed him the book. "This…is how much I like Springsteen." Luis opened up the book and found lots of old magazine clippings and ticket stubs to his concerts and tons of pictures. He smiled as he was looking through the book. It really took him back to when he was growing up and he and Hank had gone to see him in concert one year. "Do you want something to drink?" Sheridan offered. Luis didn't look up from the book. "Yeah, that would be great, thank you." Sheridan smiled at him and got up to get him a Coke out of the refrigerator. Luis was looking at old pictures of Sheridan. She had long hair in these pictures and was standing with a red haired girl. He assumed it was when she was in boarding school. He looked more closely at the picture and saw the sign that said 'ANNIE & SHERRY LOVE BRUCE!' 'Sherry? I wonder if very many people call her that. That's cute.' Sheridan returned with Luis' drink and handed it to him. He looked up at her and into her big blue eyes. "Thanks." Sheridan saw the picture he was about to look at and took it. She didn't want him to know that people called her Sherry.

"Why, Sheridan, you aren't trying to hide anything from me are you?" "Um, no not really. It's just not a very good picture. Here's a better one," she said as she flipped the page. "I can't believe you have all of this stuff. It's great, Sheridan." "Thank you. I told you I was a fan. Are you?" she asked again. "Well, I have seen The Boss in concert, but I don't have anything as elaborate as this, cataloging his life," he said smiling. He flipped the page and saw an autographed picture of him. It said 'To Sherry, Love Bruce Springsteen.' Sheridan saw him looking at that and took the book away from him. "Okay, why don't we get started on the dance." "Sheridan, if I didn't know any better, I would say you were deliberately trying to keep me from finding out something about you." "Don't be silly, Luis. I just look so dopey in those pictures with my hair so long." "I don't think so…I think you look great." She felt herself blushing again. 'Why do I always blush whenever Luis is around? Because he is unlike anyone you've ever met, that's why!' "Thank you, Luis."

Sheridan grabbed a pad of paper and two pens so they could write down what they needed for the dance. When she returned she sat down on the floor so she could write on the coffee table. Luis just looked at her for a moment. She wasn't wearing much makeup and her hair wasn't impeccably fixed like it usually was. She had little barrettes in her hair that gave her a youthful look but she was still the most breathtaking woman he had ever seen. He kept thinking about her and didn't hear what she was saying. "How does that sound to you?" "Huh? What did you say, Sheridan?" Sheridan grinned at him. "You like to space out don't ya? Did you hear a word I said?" "I'm sorry, I didn't," he said as he slid off the couch to sit on the floor beside her. "What were you thinking about that caused you to be a million miles away?" Luis smiled coyly at her. "Oh, you know…things." "Things?" she asked with a raised eyebrow. "Yeah." She laughed dryly, "Okay Luis. Whatever you say."

They talked some more about the dance and decided that the kids could dress up and they would ask Chad to DJ the dance. They settled on what they would have for refreshments and she said that she would go shopping for decorations later this week. This took them a lot longer than they had expected, but they kept getting off track and talking about other things and laughing. Sheridan heard her stomach growl and looked at her watch. It was almost 6:00 and she hadn't had anything to eat that day. "Luis, I'm starving." "Me too. How about we go get a pizza and then rent a movie at Blockbuster? Unless of course you're sick of me and want me to leave." 'YES! He wants to stay! This has been the best day.' "Of course I'm not sick of you, and a pizza sounds great. Let me put my shoes on and we can go." Sheridan hopped to her feet and went into her room. Luis watched her go and smiled thinking about what a wonderful time he was having. Sheridan returned to the living room and went to grab her jacket. Luis jumped to his feet to help her. He slid the jacket on her and rested his hands on her shoulders. He was inhaling the sweet smell of her hair and Sheridan slowly turned her head to see Luis' face. She found his eyes gazing into her own. 'Those eyes. They are so intense that you could get lost in them.' Sheridan's eyes made their way down to Luis' mouth. She wanted to kiss him so badly. She chewed nervously on her bottom lip but decided to kiss him anyway. She kissed him gently on the lips and pulled back to look into his eyes.

"Hmm…and what was that for Miss Crane?" he asked sweetly. "For helping me with my jacket. Now let's go…I'm STARVING," she said with a huge grin as she pulled him out of her cottage. He just laughed at her and allowed her to drag him to the car. She hopped into Luis' Jeep and he shut the door for her. Luis started the Jeep and Born to Run by Bruce Springsteen was blaring on his radio. Sheridan started laughing, as did Luis as he turned down the radio. "I told you I was a fan of The Boss," he said as his infectious grin spread across his face. "I think that everyone should be," Sheridan said, still giggling.

"Hey Crane, do you have your cell phone with you?" "Yeah, do you want me to order the pizza?" "You read my mind," Luis said. "Well then, let me try out my psychic powers again and guess what you want on the pizza." Sheridan shut her eyes and jokingly rubbed her temples. Luis just laughed at her. "You want…pepperoni and mushrooms on your pizza…preferably from Papa John's." Luis stopped laughing and glanced over at her. "How did you do that? That is my favorite," he exclaimed. Sheridan smiled and tried to keep from giggling, but it didn't work. "It's my favorite too, so I guess it was just wishful thinking." She called and ordered the pizza as Luis drove to the video store.

Sheridan and Luis were walking through the isles looking for a movie to rent. Luis wanted to watch a scary movie to see if Sheridan was a scaredy cat. The image of that was amusing to him, but he also hoped that she would snuggle up to him if she did get scared. Sheridan wanted to watch a chick flick but she didn't want to make Luis suffer through it. After all, she did drag him to see Grease last night. 'Maybe if we get a scary movie, I can sit close to Luis. Sheridan, stop acting like a little schoolgirl and pull it together.' They were in the scary movie isle and she picked up Scream 2 as Luis picked up Scream. She looked up at Luis and met his eyes. It was amazing to her that they had so much in common. She always knew they had to have more in common than what they already knew about, but there was more than she could have imagined. Luis grinned at her. "I guess great minds think alike huh, Sheridan?" "Yeah, I guess so. So, which one are we getting, Luis?" "Why not both? It's still early." 'YES!!!!' "Okay, sounds good to me." They paid for the movies and went to pick up their pizza.

Sheridan noticed there was a liquor store next to Papa John's. "Hey Luis, what kind of beer do you want?" "Don't tell me that you like to drink beer." "What's good pizza without a cold beer?" 'This woman is AMAZING!' Luis smirked a little; "whatever you want is fine with me." "Be careful what you tell me, Luis," she said smiling as she hopped out of the Jeep. Luis went to get the pizza and Sheridan returned with a 12-pack of Coors under her arm. Luis saw the kind of beer she bought and felt like she was reading his mind. It was weird, but wonderful at the same time. He drove back to Sheridan's and they were jamming to Springsteen in the car. Both Sheridan and Luis were thinking about how they needed to talk about what was happening between them, but they didn't want to. They were slipping into a comfort zone and loved spending time together, and didn't think it necessary to analyze their relationship to death tonight.

Sheridan unlocked the door to her cottage and checked her machine. There was a message from Hank asking her out for the night, which she quickly deleted and groaned upon hearing it. Luis couldn't help but laugh. Sheridan got two plates from the cupboard and brought them into the living room. When she walked in there, she found Luis sitting on a blanket that he had spread out on the floor. "And what might this be, Officer?" "A carpet picnic," he said nonchalantly. "Oh, a carpet picnic," she said with her eyebrows raised and the corners of her mouth turning up. She handed him the plates and sat down. As soon as she sat down, she popped up again and ran to the kitchen. She returned with two beers and some napkins. "Here you go," she said as she handed Luis a beer. "Gracias." Sheridan smiled and opened the pizza box to get a piece of pizza. They talked more about the dance as they ate. "I was thinking Luis, if Chad doesn't have a lot of the 'oldies' to play at the dance, maybe I could talk to the local music stores to see if they will donate some." "Yeah, that would be a good idea. I know that Mama has a lot of oldies at home too." "Well, I have some CDs with oldies songs on them, so we can use those too." "I think we have this dance pretty much planned, Crane." "I think we do too. Then I propose a toast, to the dance." Luis raised his beer bottle and clinked it with hers. "To the dance." Sheridan stood up to take the plates to the kitchen, but Luis insisted that he do it instead.

He returned to the living room and handed Sheridan another beer. "So, should we get the full effect of the scary movie and watch it with the lights off?" she asked, praying that he would say yes. "Definitely. You can't watch a scary movie with the lights on because it defeats the whole purpose." Sheridan got up and switched off the lights as Luis put the tape into the VCR. He turned around and found her sitting on the floor leaning up against the couch. He sat himself down next to her. Luis picked up her hand and brought it to his mouth and kissed it. She sighed lightly and smiled at him. She picked up the remote and skipped through the previews to get to the main attraction. The movie started and they sat in silence. Sheridan didn't get too scared by the movie at first. She did find herself jumping from time to time and Luis thought it was cute. He wrapped his arm around her instinctively and she snuggled up close to him as he hoped she would. At one point during the movie though, Sheridan screamed and practically jumped into Luis' lap. He laughed at her and she smacked him on the arm. She settled herself sitting between Luis' legs and she leaned up against him. He wrapped both of his arms around her. She felt really safe being with him. She normally felt safe with him, but being in his arms, she felt like no harm could come her way. Luis was having a hard time concentrating on the movie with Sheridan leaning up against him the way she was. He found himself watching her reactions to the movie more closely than the movie itself.

Sheridan got up to use the bathroom after the movie was over. "I'll be right back," she said, mocking the movie. Luis laughed. When she walked back out into the living room, she didn't see Luis anywhere. "Luis? Where are you? I know you're just trying to scare me." She looked all over the living room and didn't see him. She walked into her room, hoping to find him there, but she didn't. She walked back into the living room and Luis jumped out from behind the couch and grabbed her. "AAAAAAAAAHHHHH! LUIS LOPEZ-FITZGERALD you scared the hell out of me!" She smacked him hard on the arm. Luis grinned and started laughing at her. 'She is so adorable.' "So you think this is funny?" "Yes, I do. I think it's hilarious," he replied. "Well, let's see how funny you think this is, Luis." Sheridan started poking him in the ribs and tickling him and Luis started laughing. He tried to get around Sheridan but he was laughing too hard to move. He started tickling her back and she started squealing with laughter. Neither would relent on their tickling war, but Sheridan was laughing so hard that she fell backwards onto the couch pulling Luis with her.

Luis was now on top of Sheridan lying on the couch. Both of them were still laughing and tickling each other. Sheridan was squirming underneath him trying to break free but couldn't because her body hurt from laughing. She felt Luis ease up a little and Sheridan made her move. She went in for the kill and tickled Luis as hard as she could, causing him to laugh uncontrollably. Sheridan then tried to roll them over, but they ended up falling off of the couch. She heard Luis bump his head on the coffee table.

"Oww!" Luis said as he reached up to touch his head. He was still laughing however. Sheridan's eyes opened really wide afraid that she hurt him. "Luis, oh my God, are you okay?" She saw that he was still laughing, so that caused her to laugh as well. "Man, Sheridan, getting a little vicious aren't you?" "Luis, I'm so sorry. Where does it hurt?" 'Way to go idiot…why don't you just club him over the head? Real smooth, Sheridan!' Luis pointed to the left side of his forehead. "Right here," he said faking his injury. Sheridan noticed him sticking his lip out. He looked so cute at that moment. "Can I see?" she asked softly as she carefully removed Luis' hand from his head. Sheridan leaned in and gently kissed his forehead. "Is that any better?" "Mmm, yeah, but now there is a pain right here," he said pointing to his cheek. "Hmm…you have pesky travelling pain I see." "Mmm hmm." She smiled and kissed his cheek. "Does it hurt anywhere else, Luis?" 'Oh, I could think of a few places…don't go there, Luis!' "Well, seeing as you are so good at making the pain go away, it really hurts right here," he said pointing to his lips. "Oh, well, I'd better see if I can remedy that then." Sheridan leaned in and kissed his lips sweetly. "Better?" "Yeah, but they still kinda hurt," he said playfully. Sheridan grinned slyly at him and leaned in and brushed her lips over Luis' before kissing him full on the mouth.

Sheridan pulled away but rested her forehead against his. "Is that better, Luis?" she asked grinning at him. "Indeed it is. You are very good at that." "I'm sorry that you hit your head," she said. "Hey, that's okay. Remind me to get hurt more often around you." She giggled at him and started to get up. She looked at the clock and it was only 9:30. "So, should we watch the second movie?" he asked. "Yeah, as long as you don't try to scare the bejesus out of me." She turned and smiled at him. "Well, I won't seeing as I get injuries to the head when I do try to scare you." Sheridan knew he was kidding, but she still felt bad. "Luis, I'm really sorry you hit your head." He just smiled at her. "Don't worry about it…I'm fine. As you know, I can be pretty thick-headed at times." Sheridan giggled. "No argument from me on that one," she said playfully.

Sheridan got up and moved to the couch and Luis put the movie in the VCR. Luis grabbed a throw pillow and tossed into Sheridan's lap and he plopped down and rested his head on it. Sheridan laughed. "Comfy Luis?" "Very." "Well that's good, we wouldn't want you to be uncomfortable at all, Officer," she said, smiling wryly. "That's what I thought…this place looks pretty hospitable to me." Sheridan rolled her eyes and smirked and Luis just smiled innocently at her.

The movie was starting and Sheridan found herself just watching Luis watch the movie. He was laughing at the people being stabbed because he knew what was going to happen. She started running her fingers through his hair. She didn't really want to watch the movie at all. Sheridan traced his jaw line lightly with her index finger and then down his neck. She felt the goosebumps form on his neck, but she didn't stop. She started playing with his hair again, and Luis slowly sat up. Sheridan was afraid she'd done something wrong, but Luis cupped her face with both of his hands and brought her mouth to meet his. Luis had his hands in her hair as their mouths explored each other and then he lowered his hands to wrap them around her waist. Sheridan had her hands on his chest and brought one up and placed it behind his head.

They continued kissing and Luis slowly lay back on the couch pulling Sheridan on top of him. Both Sheridan and Luis were really getting into it and Luis had one of his hands up her shirt caressing the small of her back. 'I love the way Luis kisses me, but why do I feel like a teenager right now?' The more she thought about it, the funnier it became. She broke the kiss and started giggling. Luis just looked at her. "What?" Sheridan started laughing even harder and she buried her face into Luis' neck and laughed more, causing Luis to start laughing. Sheridan pulled back and looked at Luis. "Do you feel like a teenager right now Luis?" "Well, now that you mention it. We are making out during the movie like we're in high school or something." He grinned at her and she sat up and pulled Luis up too. "I just started hearing the movie in the background and I suddenly felt like I was in high school again making out with my boyfriend." 'Did I just say boyfriend? YOU IDIOT!' 'Did she just call me her boyfriend? Oh, I'm probably just wishing I heard that. That's a concept I could definitely get used to.' "I know what you mean, Sheridan. And as much as I enjoy kissing you, I think we should call it a night." "I think that you're right." She met his eyes and they shared a shy smile.

Luis got up and put his coat on. She walked him to the door. "Thank you for a wonderful day, Luis." "No, thank you. These last two days have been the best I've had in a very long time." "I feel the same way. So…this is goodnight then." "Yeah, I suppose it is." They just stared into each other's eyes for a moment and Luis planted a sweet kiss on her lips before heading out the door. He turned around and said goodnight and headed for his car. Sheridan sighed and leaned up against the door and touched her lips with her fingers. She heard a knock at the door, which made her jump. She turned around and saw Luis standing outside. Sheridan smiled as she opened the door. "Hi." "Hi." "Did you forget something, Luis?" "Um, yeah, actually, I did." "What is it?" "This…" He grabbed her and kissed her passionately and she felt herself melt right there. When the kiss ended, Sheridan wrapped her arms around Luis and hugged him as close to her body as possible. "Goodnight, Luis," she whispered into his ear. He kissed her forehead. "Goodnight, Sheridan." He lightly touched the end of her nose and walked out the door.

Chapter 4:

Sheridan walked into the Youth Center Monday morning. She had woken up early, eager to see Luis. She hadn't seen him yesterday because she was busy running errands for the dance and he had a lot of work to do at his house. He called her last night and they talked forever. The more they got to know one another, the more she knew she couldn't imagine life without him. Their talk last night really helped them both sort things out for now. They had agreed to keep things low key around others until they figured out what was going on. Neither wanted to admit that they were falling head over heels for the other, but they knew that something amazing was happening between them.

Sheridan walked into Luis' office with two cups of coffee. "Good morning, Officer." Luis smiled upon hearing her voice and looked up to meet her eyes with his own. "Good morning, Miss Crane." She shut the door and handed Luis his coffee. "Here you go." "Thank you, Sheridan. By the way, I have something for you as well," he said as he raised his eyebrows. "Do you?" she asked coyly. He looked around her to make sure the door was shut and no one could see them. He walked over to her and kissed her. "Hmm…thank you." Sheridan gently wiped her lipstick off of his lips. He just stood and gazed into her eyes. He didn't know how he was going to get any work done being around her all day. He was about to kiss her again when they heard someone coming. Sheridan walked away quickly and went to the filing cabinets.

Hank walked in. "Hey Luis. Hey Sheridan. Did you get my message this weekend?" 'Damn, how am I going to get out of this one?' "No, Hank, did you call?" "Yeah, I called to see if you wanted to go out Saturday night. I left you a message on your machine." Luis found himself growing jealous, but he knew he didn't have a reason to be because he had spent the entire weekend with her. "Oh, Hank, my machine eats my messages sometimes. Sorry." She turned back to her "work" at the filing cabinet. Luis tried not to laugh. He knew that she hated to lie, but he was glad that she didn't tell Hank they were together all weekend and she deliberately deleted his message. It was far too early to deal with Hank this morning. "Okay, well, anyway, there is a delivery guy outside, Luis. I'll help you with the boxes." "All right. Sheridan, I left a list of things that need to be done around here on my desk." He turned to look at her and his eyes told her it was just to keep Hank from playing 20 questions and embarrassing himself. "Bye beautiful," Hank called to her as he was leaving the office. "Oh bye Hank." She rolled her eyes and went to look for something to do.

Sheridan decided to make copies of the flyer for the dance, and ran a bunch of them off. She hung some of them up around the Youth Center and realized she should take some to the high school and the Book Café to post as well. She noticed that Luis and Hank were still busy carrying in boxes. She caught Luis' eye and held up the flyers and mouthed that she would be right back. He winked and smiled at her and continued to help Hank with the boxes. When Sheridan returned from the high school, she found that Hank had left. 'Oh darn.' She walked into the office, but there was no sign of Luis. She heard noise in the gym, so she walked in there and found Luis helping a kid shoot baskets. She smiled at this sight. He was so good with the kids. A woman walked into the gym and announced that it was time to leave. The little boy thanked Luis, and Luis gave him high five before he took off running for his babysitter. Luis didn't see her and shot a few baskets. He looked at his watch and put the basketball away. When he turned around, he saw her watching him and he stared back before flashing the grin she loved so much. "Were you planning on telling me you were back, or were you just hanging around padding your hours?" he said playfully. "Cute. Very cute, Luis." She smiled and turned to walk into the office, but Luis grabbed her arm. He looked around to make sure no one was around and he kissed her. It was a sweet kiss on the lips, but it quickly intensified. Sheridan knew she had to pull away soon. When she did, she smiled at him. "You know Luis, if you treat me this well, I may never leave." "Well, that's the plan." She kissed him quickly and then walked into the office.

Luis followed her. "Hey, we need to get our costumes for the dance, Luis." "That's right, I almost forgot. He looked at his watch. I'm afraid I can't today because I have to shower and get to the station." "Well, I could always pick one out for you. You do trust me don't you?" Sheridan asked him sweetly. "I don't know…what if you pick out some clown costume for me to wear?" "Luis, it's a sock hop, not the circus. And besides, you're my date, I don't think I will be picking out anything that would embarrass you, or myself for that matter." "Oh, I see. Well, then yes, I trust you." "Good. I'm going to go over there now. Call me later?" Luis just got an idea in his head for the dance as a surprise for Sheridan. He couldn't wait until Friday so he could see her reaction. He also couldn't wait to see what she would pick out to wear to the dance. He was sure she would look adorable in a poodle skirt, but then again, he thinks that she looks good no matter what. "Hello? Anyone home?" "Sorry Sheridan, what did you say?" She laughed at him. "Why do you always space out when I'm talking to you? Do I not hold your interest or what?" she said playfully. "No, that's not it at all. You know that you can hold my attention. I was just thinking about the dance and how much fun it will be." "I agree it will be a good time. Well, go take your shower and get to work." "Yes ma'am." She kissed him on the cheek and started to leave. He grabbed her by the waist and pulled her back. "Hey, you're not getting away from here that easily." Sheridan giggled. He pulled her in and gave her a juicy kiss. When he pulled back, he was short of breath, as was Sheridan. "There, now you can go," he said grinning at her. "I'll call you when I get home. Have fun picking out costumes." "I will, bye Luis." "Bye Sheridan."

Sheridan walked into the costume shop and started looking around. She knew exactly what she wanted to get she just needed to find it. She found the fifties costumes and started rifling through them. She found a black leather jacket for Luis and it had 'T-Birds' on the back. She conjured up an image of Luis wearing jeans and a tight white T-shirt with the jacket over it in her mind. She smiled and knew he would look sexy, but then again, he always did. She started looking through the selection of poodle skirts and finally decided that she liked the red one the best. She took those to the front and told the clerk that she needed to find one more before she left and asked for her help. The clerk helped her find what she needed and Sheridan couldn't wait to see Luis' reaction.

The rest of the week seemed to go by rather quickly. It was Thursday afternoon and Sheridan arrived at the Youth Center to start working on the dance. She was early, but she got there so she could see Luis. They hadn't had many chances to see each other this week because they were so busy. She couldn't wait for the dance and she hoped that it would go off without a hitch. Luis had wanted to see his costume, but Sheridan told him he had to wait. She walked into his office carrying his costume in a bag. In the bag there was also a present for him that she hoped he would like.

She noticed that he was on the phone, and he seemed to be stressed by something. He was not happy with whomever he was speaking to and his forehead was crinkled up. She walked behind him and started rubbing his shoulders. He was so tense. He finally hung up the phone. "Ugh. What a day." "Are you okay?" she asked, still massaging his shoulders. "Mmm, better now that you're here. I've just had a long day. How was yours?" "It was good. I came in early so I could see you." "I'm so glad that you did. Hey, you missed a spot," he said pointing to his neck. "Oh I did? Well, I'm so terribly sorry," she teased as she worked her hands up and rubbed his neck. "Better?" "Much. So, what's in the bag? Is it something for me?" he asked. "Nope, it's for the guy I'm seeing after work." Luis laughed. "It is huh? Can I see what's in the bag anyway?" "Hmm…well, I suppose so."

Luis opened the bag and found his jacket inside for the dance. He pulled it out and saw 'T-Birds' on the back. He really liked it and he smiled indicating his appreciation. "This is great, Sheridan. Does this mean you want me to be your Danny Zuko?" Sheridan laughed. "Something like that. I'm glad that you like it." "So, when do I get to see your costume?" "Hmm…not 'til tomorrow at the dance." "How about I pick you up for the dance?" "I thought I'd just change here since we'll still be setting things up. Is that okay?" Luis sighed dramatically. "I suppose." Sheridan snickered at him. "There's another surprise in the bag for you. Two actually." "Wow, this is turning out to be a great day after all," Luis said. Sheridan had one present in a small gift bag and the other one was wrapped. "Open the wrapped one first." Luis unwrapped the package and when he saw what it was, his face turned bright red, but he started laughing. "West Side Story? You just can't let that go can you?" Sheridan smiled. "Well, if you don't like it, I can always return it. But my thought was that you could come over and watch it sometime." Luis remembered watching movies with her and knew he couldn't wait to do that again. "I think I was being too hasty. I like the movie, thank you." "You're welcome. Now, open the other one." Luis smiled like a little kid on Christmas. Luis pulled the tissue paper out of the gift bag and found a CD. Luis didn't recognize it and turned it over to read the back. It was a CD that Sheridan had burned for him. "It's a CD of all my favorite Springsteen songs. "This is so great. You didn't have to do this you know, but I'm happy you did. This is exactly what I needed to cheer me up. Thank you," He said sincerely. He stood up from his chair, wrapped his arms around her and hugged her close. Sheridan returned the hug and the two just stood holding each other for what seemed like forever. Luis pulled back slightly to look into Sheridan's eyes. He loved those eyes. They were like staring into the ocean. They continued to just gaze at each other and didn't hear people walking into the Youth Center.

Miguel walked into the office with Charity, Kay, Simone and Reese close behind. Miguel stopped when he saw Luis and Sheridan. "Uh, I hope we're not interrupting anything here, Luis." Hearing Miguel's voice made them jump and pull away from each other. "Miguel! What are you doing here with…everyone?" "I called Miguel and asked if they would help us set up for the dance," Sheridan told him. "Yeah, so I told her that I would, and I enlisted the help of others." Luis looked at Sheridan, "You're just full of good ideas aren't you, Crane?" "I do my best, Officer." Luis started to lean in towards her, but remembered that they had an audience. Luis and Sheridan looked over at the group of teenagers and saw them smiling. Sheridan wasn't embarrassed; she didn't want to hide her feelings for Luis. Luis, however, was a little embarrassed and Sheridan saw him blush and look down at his feet. "I'll show you where the decorations are and we can get started," Sheridan told everyone. They all nodded and followed her, but Miguel stayed behind to talk to Luis.

Miguel stood and looked at Luis and smirked. "What?" Luis asked his little brother. "You've got it bad, bro! I've never seen you look at anyone that way before." Sheridan forgot the scissors and the tape when she left the office and started to walk back in. She stopped when she heard Miguel and Luis talking. "You're right, Miguel. I've never felt this way about anyone. Sheridan is unlike any woman that I've ever met, and I love every second that I get to spend with her." Sheridan was elated and felt the butterflies in her stomach. She knew she shouldn't be eavesdropping on them, but she couldn't pull herself away. Kay came up to her and startled her. Sheridan whirled around. "Kay, you scared me." "I'm sorry, Sheridan. I just came to see what was taking Miguel so long. What are you doing?" "I heard Miguel and Luis talking and I didn't want to interrupt." Kay smiled. "What were they talking about? You perhaps?" Sheridan's eyes lit up and she nodded. "You really like him don't you, Sheridan?" Sheridan nodded again. "Yes, very much. He is wonderful." Luis and Miguel were about to leave the office when they heard Sheridan and Kay talking. "I've known the Lopez-Fitzgerald family for as long as I can remember, and I've NEVER seen Luis act the way he does when he's with you. I hope that someday a guy will look at me the way Luis looks at you," Kay said. Sheridan smiled at her and put her hand on Kay's shoulder. "Kay, I'm surprised that you don't have guys lined up around the block for you already. You're a beautiful young woman, and you will find that special one someday. Believe me when I tell you that when a boy looks at you the way that Luis looks at me, it's the most indescribably wonderful feeling." Miguel looked at Luis and saw his eyes sparkle listening to Sheridan. Miguel also wondered why he had never noticed that Kay grew up. She had been his best friend for years, and never knew this side to her. He brushed it off and walked out of the office.

"Hey Kay, hi Sheridan. I'm going to go help the others with the decorations now." Sheridan watched as Kay's eyes followed Miguel. "I'm going to go help too," Kay said as she walked off. Sheridan smiled and knew exactly how Kay felt. 'It must be the Lopez-Fitzgerald charm.' She walked into the office and ran right into Luis. "Luis, I'm sorry." "You like to run into things don't you?" he said as he wrapped his arms around her waist. "Ha, ha, ha! Very funny Luis. I just came in here to get some scissors and tape." "Is that all? Are you sure there's no other possible reason for you coming into my office?" 'This man is so irresistibly charming. Let's not forget gorgeous!' "Hmm, I have to think," she said innocently as she put her finger on her lips pretending to be deep in thought. Luis just watched her. "Oh, I just thought of the other thing." "You did?" "Yes, but you have to lean in closer so I can tell you." Luis leaned in and she reached up and kissed him. "Is that what you had to tell me?" he asked. "Yep, that's it." "I don't think I heard you very well, do you think you could repeat yourself?" he asked slyly. "I think that could be arranged. Come here." Sheridan kissed him again, this time with more intensity. Luis pulled away, "You have a way with words, Sheridan." "I try," she said coyly. "But, I'm never going to get this dance done if we stay in here like this all evening, Luis." "I know, and that's why I'm leaving." Sheridan looked puzzled and was about to ask him where he was going. "Don't worry, I'll be back. I just have a few things I need to get for the dance tomorrow." 'What is that suspicious smile for,' Sheridan wondered. "What are you up to, Officer?" "I guess that is for me to know and you to find out. Bye." "Bye." Sheridan watched him leave and then she finally got the scissors and tape that she intended to get 20 minutes before.

Luis walked into the music store and started looking through the CDs. It took him awhile to find what he was looking for, but he finally found it. He hoped that Sheridan would like his surprise, and he couldn't wait to give it to her.

Meanwhile, Sheridan and everyone else were decorating the gym for the dance. The place was really starting to come together. She told them they could all go home because they had done so much already. She thanked them all for helping and told them she would see them at the dance tomorrow. While she was putting up decorations, she couldn't help but notice the way that Kay kept staring at Miguel and how annoyed she got when Reese was around. She smiled to herself and she was glad that she was out of those awkward teen years, but she still felt like a teenager at times when she was with Luis. Sheridan was leaning up against the ladder lost in her thoughts when Luis walked in. She didn't hear him because she had the radio on and she continued to stand there until Luis walked up to her.

Luis put his hands on her shoulders and started to rub them for her. He felt Sheridan jump at first but then relax into him. "Hey. This place looks great, Sheridan." "Thank you. Did you find what you were looking for?" "As a matter of fact, I did. It's a surprise for you actually, but you will have to wait until tomorrow to get it." "Luis, no fair," she whined. "But, if I have to wait, then I have to wait." Luis gently caressed her cheek and looked at her. Suddenly, "Can't Fight This Feeling" came on the radio. "Luis, will you dance with me?" "Of course." Sheridan led him out into the middle of the floor and she wrapped her arms around his neck and looked up at him with her big blue eyes.

I can't fight this feeling any longer And yet I'm still afraid to let it flow What started out as friendship, has grown stronger I only wish I had the strength to let it show

I tell myself that I can't hold out forever I said there is no reason for my fear Cause I feel so secure when we're together You give my life direction You make everything so clear

And even as I wander I'm keeping you in sight You're a candle in the window On a cold, dark winter's night And I'm getting closer than I ever thought I might

And I can't fight this feeling anymore I've forgotten what I started fighting for It's time to bring this ship into the shore And throw away the oars, forever

Cause I can't fight this feeling anymore I've forgotten what I started fighting for And if I have to crawl upon the floor Come crushing through your door Baby, I can't fight this feeling anymore

Sheridan and Luis both thought of how perfectly this song fit them. Sheridan rested her head on Luis' shoulder and felt his grip on her tighten. They continued to slowly sway to the rhythm of the song.

My life has been such a whirlwind since I saw you I've been running round in circles in my mind And it always seems that I'm following you, girl Cause you take me to the places that alone I'd never find

And even as I wander I'm keeping you in sight You're a candle in the window on a cold, dark winter's night And I'm getting closer than I ever thought I might

Sheridan could hear Luis' heart pounding in his chest. Her heart was racing every bit as fast as his was. She had never felt this way about anyone, not even when she was engaged to Jean Luc. It terrified her that she didn't have control over her emotions, but at the same time, she didn't want to try to control them. What she felt was real and raw emotion. Luis felt like his heart was going to beat right out of his chest. Whenever Sheridan Crane came within ten feet of him, he always had this same reaction. Sheridan lifted her head so she could look at Luis. He gave her a faint smile and lowered his head and rested his forehead against hers. Sheridan closed her eyes and wrapped her arms snugly around his neck.

And I can't fight this feeling anymore I've forgotten what I started fighting for It's time to bring this ship into the shore And throw away the oars, forever

Cause I can't fight this feeling anymore I've forgotten what I started fighting for And if I have to crawl upon the floor Come crushing through your door Baby, I can't fight this feeling anymore.

When the song ended, they didn't pull apart. Luis raised his head to look at Sheridan's face. She slowly opened her eyes and met his. She couldn't believe the connection she felt with Luis. Luis brushed a strand of hair out of her eyes and slowly leaned in and brushed his lips over hers. Sheridan's body tingled at feeling the touch of his lips. She started thinking about her bad track record with men and how strongly she felt whenever she was with Luis. At that moment, she became frightened of her own feelings for him. She had NEVER felt this way about anyone and no one had made her feel the way he did. She didn't know what to expect from him, and she loved that, but there was an air of uncertainty surrounding her. At that moment, it was as if all of her insecurities were unleashed. She felt tears welling up in her eyes. She broke the kiss and pulled herself away from Luis and turned her back to him.

Luis looked dumbfounded by what just happened. 'Did I do something wrong?' He saw Sheridan reach up to wipe her eyes and he had a sinking feeling in his stomach. Sheridan walked over and sat down on a bench and put her head in her hands. Luis followed her and kneeled down as to try to look at her face. "Sheridan, what's the matter?" Luis asked softly. "Did I do something wrong?" Sheridan shook her head. "No Luis, you didn't do anything wrong. In fact, you did everything right," she said as her voice cracked. "Then what has you so upset? You were fine a few minutes ago. Please tell me, I want to help," he said as he rested his hands on her knees. He was so caring and gentle with her and that made Sheridan cry harder. 'God, pull it together Sheridan. Luis is wonderful, why are you acting this way?' She wasn't sure of where to begin, but she had to try. She owed him that much. Sheridan felt her crying subside and slowly lifted her head to look at Luis. When she did, she found his eyes looking at her with so much concern and compassion.

"Luis, I'm scared," she said in a whisper. "Scared? What are you scared of, Sheridan?" Luis reached up and gently brushed away the tears that were trickling down her face. She wasn't sure of where to begin. "I'm scared of this, of us." Luis didn't know how to respond. He wasn't quite sure of the context in which she meant that and was sporting a confused look on his face. "I don't understand," Luis told her. "What I meant was…" her voice trailed off. 'Don't hold it back, just tell him. Be honest with your feelings.' "I've never felt this way with anyone Luis. No one has ever made me feel the way you have this past week. When I was engaged to Jean Luc, I thought that I was in love with him, but this special feeling that I get when I'm with you makes me realize that I was fooling myself. As you know, I have this wretched history with men but I always knew how to act with them because I half-heartedly knew what to expect. And over time, part of me just became closed off because I put up a wall to protect myself. But with you, you are nothing like those men. I don't know what to expect from you, I don't know how to act, and that is what scares me." She started off strong, but at the end, her voice was wavering. She felt the tears well up again and a few slipped out. Luis sat and took everything in. 'Why did all of those men use her and hurt her like that? Damn them.' Sheridan put her head down unable to look into Luis' eyes anymore for fear of what he might say.

Luis sat on the bench beside her and turned her towards him. "Sheridan, please look at me." When she didn't look up he gently lifted her chin so she would look at him. She finally looked him in the eyes and he placed one of her hands between his. Luis wasn't sure where to begin. "Sheridan, this past week has been one of the best weeks of my life. And the reason it was so great was because of you. The more time that I spend with you makes me think about how those other men have used you in the past and I wonder how they could have been so foolish. You are an amazing woman, and I learn that more and more with every second that I spend with you. I know you've been hurt in the past, and I'm SO sorry that ever happened. I know what you mean about the way that you are feeling because I feel it too. If I said that I wasn't a little scared, then I would be lying to myself and to you. I've never felt the way I do with anyone the way I do when I'm with you. It seems like so much has happened between us so fast, and that is a little scary. It's like you want to think it out and have a logical explanation for what is happening, but when you can't rationalize it in your head, you're unsure of what to do next." Sheridan nodded her head because she felt the same. "I pride myself on being able to think things through all of the time, but when I'm with you, Sheridan, thinking flies out the window. I just feel."

"It's just so complicated, Luis." "It doesn't have to be. I know that we may have a lot of strikes against us if you look at things from the perspective of the outside world, but does that really matter?" Sheridan shook her head slightly. "What you and I have may never be simple, but that doesn't mean we're not going to be scorching," Luis said. Sheridan felt tugging at her heartstrings and she felt the corners of her mouth turn up into a slight grin. "Hey, there's that beautiful smile." Luis grinned back at her and Sheridan gave him a big, genuine smile. Sheridan felt so much better after talking to Luis. They really hadn't discussed what was happening between them yet, and that is exactly what they needed to do. Sheridan wrapped her arms around Luis and hugged him tight. "Thank you, Luis. I feel so much better now." "Good. I think that we needed to talk about things. I feel better now, too." Sheridan pulled back slightly and kissed Luis. She broke the kiss after a minute and grinned at Luis. "So, you think we're going to be scorching huh?" Luis smiled at her. "Definitely." He kissed her again. "Why don't we get out of here and take a walk?" "I would love too," she said, "let's go."

Sheridan got her coat and found her compact in her purse to make sure her mascara wasn't running. Luis saw her using the compact that he bought for her and he smiled. They walked out of the Youth Center and Luis locked the doors. "Luis?" "Yeah?" "Can I have a hint about my surprise?" "Nice try, but sorry, you will have to wait." Sheridan stopped and stuck her bottom lip out. He turned around and saw her and he thought that she looked so adorable. He wasn't going to give her the surprise until tomorrow. "You can't have your real surprise, but I'll buy you an ice cream cone, and you can have all the colored sprinkles that your little heart desires." Sheridan flashed him a big grin and ran and jumped on his back causing Luis to laugh. She wrapped her arms around his neck to keep from falling and she kissed his cheek. "Thank you," she whispered into his ear. "You're most welcome." Sheridan hopped down and then stood in front of Luis. "I can't wait until tomorrow," she told him. Luis hugged her and swung her around causing her to giggle. "Me neither, Sheridan." He put her down and they walked hand in hand to get ice cream.

Chapter 5:

Sheridan woke up upon hearing someone knocking on her door. 'Dammit. Whoever is there better have a good reason for waking me from my dream about Luis.' She stumbled groggily to the door and opened it. There was a deliveryman standing there. "Hi, delivery for Sheridan Crane." Sheridan yawned. "I'm Sheridan." "Then these are for you. Sign here please." Sheridan took the balloon bouquet that was anchored with a stuffed dog with floppy ears. She smiled as she took the gift and signed her name. "Thank you." She shut the door and walked over to the couch to read the card that was attached.

Sheridan,
I hope you like the dog. His name is The Boss. I figured that since you love Springsteen so much, this way you could take The Boss to bed with you every night. I can't wait to see you tonight! If you need me, I'll be at the Harmony Brass all day.

Love, Luis.

Sheridan laughed at his note. 'He is so sweet.' She untied the stuffed dog from the balloons and hugged it to her chest. It was so cute. It had floppy ears, droopy eyes and a red bandana tied around its neck. She picked up the phone and dialed the number to the police station. "Harmony Police Department, how may I direct your call?" the receptionist said. "Officer Lopez-Fitzgerald please," Sheridan said. "One moment please."

Luis was busy doing paperwork at his desk when his phone rang. "Lopez-Fitzgerald speaking." "Hello Officer," Sheridan said sweetly. Luis smiled. "Good morning. How did you sleep?" "Very well thank you. I was a little cranky when I heard the knocking on my door, but my demeanor changed quickly when I got my surprise. Thank you for The Boss. He's great, I love him." Luis laughed. "I'm glad." "How's your day shaping up?" she asked. "Well, it's not too bad. I have a lot of paperwork to catch up on, but I should be able to cut out of here early. What about you, do you have a lot to do before the dance?" "No, not really. I just have a few loose ends to tie up and then I'm going to have lunch with Gwen." She looked at the clock and realized it was a lot later than she thought. "Actually, I'm supposed to meet Gwen in 45 minutes. It's so much later than I thought. I have to jump in the shower, so I will talk to you later okay?" "Okay Sheridan. Have a good day." "You too, Luis. Thank you again for the balloons and the dog." "It's The Boss, Sheridan," he said playfully. She giggled. "Sorry. Thank you for The Boss." "You're welcome. Bye." "Bye."

Luis hung up the phone and sighed happily at his desk. Sam noticed and asked about it. "Hey Luis." Luis looked up. "Oh hey, Sam." "What has you in such a good mood? Wait let me guess. Does it have anything to do with the tall, leggy blonde with big blue eyes?" Luis grinned. "It's that obvious huh?" Sam laughed. "I'm afraid so, Luis. I don't think I've ever seen you like this." "Well, I've never felt like this before. Sheridan is so amazing, Sam." Sam couldn't help but smile at the dopey look on Luis' face.

Sheridan was getting ready when she heard Gwen calling her name. "I'll be out in a second, Gwen." Gwen was looking at her balloons and the dog that was sitting on the couch. "Who did you get a present from, Sheridan?" Gwen asked knowingly. Sheridan walked out with a huge grin plastered on her face. "Let me guess, Harmony's hottest cop?" Sheridan's eyes lit up and she nodded excitedly. Gwen laughed. "Sheridan, that is so great. Have you seen much of him lately?" "Yeah, we've practically spent every single day together in the last week." "So, what's going on with you two? Has he kissed you yet?" "OH YEAH!" "Spill it girl, I want details." "Gwen, I've never had so much fun with one person in my entire life. We've just gone on regular dates. I took him to the movies last Friday, and then we spent the whole weekend together working on the dance and just hanging out. It was perfect. I've seen a completely different side to him, and I love it. And he's a GREAT kisser." Gwen just watched as Sheridan gushed about Luis. She knew that she was completely smitten with him. "Last night I got a little freaked out though." "Why, what happened?" Gwen asked, concerned. "Everything was perfect, almost too perfect. We were dancing at the Youth Center and I just started thinking about how Luis was unlike all those losers that I have gone out with in the past, and my thoughts turned bad and I flipped out for awhile." "Go on." "I told Luis that I was scared of how I was feeling and what was happening between us and he was amazing. He told me that he was scared too, but we would figure it out. Oh, do you want to know the best part?" "Well, yeah, don't keep me hanging here, Sheridan." Sheridan laughed. "He said that what we have may never be simple, but it doesn't mean that we can't be scorching. How great is that? I thought that my heart would beat right out of my chest." "Aaahhh! That's so great, Sheridan!" Gwen hugged her. "I'm so happy for you." "Thank you, Gwen. Now let's eat. I'm starving!"

Sheridan went over to the Youth Center after her lunch with Gwen so she could finish up the decorations for the dance. Almost everything was done, but she had to blow up a lot of balloons. She walked into the office to put her purse and coat down when she heard the phone ringing. "Hang on, I'm coming," she said running towards the phone. "Good afternoon Harmony Youth Center, this is Sheridan, how may I help you?" "Hey." Sheridan smiled upon hearing his voice. "Hey yourself. Are you following me? How did you know that I just got here?" "I have many talents, Sheridan." 'Oh, yeah you do.' She thought. "I had a question, well, more of a request actually." "Is that so Officer?" "Yeah, will you meet me at the Youth Center at 7:00?" "Sure. Do you have something up your sleeve?" "You never know, I just might. Oh yeah, don't eat dinner before you come. OK?" "Okay, Luis." "Hey, I have to run Sheridan, so I will see you at 7:00. Don't be late! Bye." "Bye." 'What are you up to Luis?' Sheridan sighed happily and went to finish her decorations.

Luis looked at his watch. It was 4:30. He was scheduled to work until 5:00, but he was hoping Sam would let him leave. "Hey Sam, is it okay if I take off for the day?" Sam smiled at him. "Big plans with Sheridan tonight?" Luis grinned. "Yep. There's a dance at the Youth Center tonight, but we're having dinner before." "Well, you better get out of here then. You don't want to keep your lady waiting." "Thanks Sam. I'll see you later." "Bye Luis."

Sheridan walked into her cottage around 5:30. She had just enough time to shower and get ready before she had to leave to meet Luis. 'I wonder what he is planning?' She hung her costume in a garment bag and laid it on the couch so she wouldn't forget it. She turned on her stereo and jumped into the shower. When she got out of the shower, she put on jeans and a black shirt. She dried her hair and put on her makeup. Sheridan looked at her watch and realized she needed to hurry.

Sheridan arrived at the Youth Center and went into the locker room to hang up her things. When she walked into the gym, she found the lights turned down and she saw a picnic set up in the middle of the floor. 'Luis is the best,' she thought happily. She turned around and looked for him, but she didn't see him. Luis had watched her walk in so he could see her reaction. Pleased with what he saw, he quietly walked up behind her and covered her eyes with his hand. "Guess who," he whispered in her ear. Sheridan smiled. "Um, is it Tom?" she asked playfully. "No," he whispered back. "Mike? Kevin? Craig?" "Nope." "Hmm, this is tough. Can I have a hint?" Luis gently caressed her neck with the back of his hand and placed a soft kiss there. Sheridan felt her entire body tingle upon feeling his lips on her neck and she let a soft moan escape her lips. "I hope it's my good looking cop." Luis uncovered her eyes and she turned around. "It is you," she said excitedly. Luis grinned at her and laughed. She wrapped her arms around him so she could kiss him. "Hey," she whispered after the kiss was over. "Hey," Luis said as he felt a smile tugging his lips. "This is really sweet, Luis." "You think so?" "I do. What did you bring for us to eat?" "Well, let's go find out." He grabbed her hand and led her to the blanket.

Sheridan sat down and Luis uncovered her plate and she found lobster. Luis handed her a wineglass and pulled out a bottle of Pinot Griggo from the picnic basket. Sheridan smiled. It was what they had on their first date. "It's just like our first date." "You noticed," he said excitedly. "How could I ever forget?" Luis smiled and they ate their dinner. "Now, this isn't the dessert we had on our date, but I think you'll like it." He handed her a plate and she uncovered it and found a piece of coconut pie. "Coconut pie? How did you know this was my favorite?" she exclaimed. "Mama told me." Luis took a fork and fed her a bite of it. "Mmm, Pilar made this didn't she?" "Yep. She said that this was always your favorite." "She's right. She would always make this for me when I was little. I've looked all over for coconut pie that tastes as good, but I couldn't find one." Luis sat, fascinated by watching Sheridan eat her pie. She savored every bite, and this surprisingly turned Luis on. Sheridan wasn't paying much attention to Luis, but she looked up and saw him gazing at her. She felt her cheeks blush and she picked up the last bite with her fork and offered it to Luis. He leaned forward and never took his eyes off of hers as he ate the last bite. Sheridan noticed he had some meringue on his bottom lip and she smiled. "What?" he asked. "You have some meringue on your lip." Luis started to wipe it off, but Sheridan stopped him. "I'll get it," she said softly. She leaned in and kissed him. Luis grinned slyly at her when she pulled away. "Thanks." "Anytime." Luis kissed her again and it turned passionate rather quickly. They were unaware of everything around them.

Chad walked into the gym to get the sound set up for the dance and he saw Luis and Sheridan. He didn't want to interrupt, but they did have a dance to put on tonight. Chad cleared his throat loudly and Sheridan and Luis broke apart. Luis looked up and saw Chad grinning from ear to ear. "Sorry, I hope I'm not interrupting anything," he said. Sheridan looked at Luis and tried to not laugh. "No, we, uh, just lost track of time. I guess it is time to get ready for the dance," Luis said, feeling somewhat embarrassed. He stood up and helped Sheridan to her feet. She and Luis cleaned up the picnic and Luis went to help Chad. Sheridan looked at her watch and decided she needed to get dressed for the dance. Luis watched her as she walked into the locker room and didn't hear a thing Chad was saying. "Yo Luis!" "What did you say, Chad?" "Oh nothin'. Ain't you wearing a costume tonight?" "Yeah, I guess I should go put that on." He started to walk away, but remembered something. "Chad, before I forget, I need you to do me a favor." "Sure man, what is it?" Luis handed him a CD. "I need you to play this song later and dedicate it to Sheridan from me." "Aight man, anything." "And make sure there are lots of people here." Chad laughed and told him he'd take care of it. Luis walked into the locker room to get changed.

Sheridan ran out of the locker room still wearing her jeans. "Hey Chad, can you do me a favor?" "Anything for you, Sheridan. What's up?" She handed him a CD. "I need you to play this song for Luis later. I will let you know when I want you to play it, okay?" Chad laughed. "What?" she asked. "Nothin', I'll take care of it." "Thanks Chad. I have to get ready now."

People were starting to arrive and Chad had the music going. Luis walked out of the locker room wearing jeans, a tight white shirt and his T-Birds jacket. He looked around and saw that the dance was getting underway, but he didn't see Sheridan yet. Sheridan put on a fitted short sleeved white blouse and tucked it in to her red poodle skirt. She threw on her white bobby socks and tied her saddle shoes. She looked into the mirror and laughed. 'I hope Luis likes this.' Sheridan opened up her bag and put on some shiny lip-gloss and sprayed some perfume on. She put her things back in her locker and walked out into the gym to find her date.

She was excited to see that a lot of people had shown up to the dance. She overheard that Harmony had defeated Vineyard, so the kids were in a great mood. She looked around for Luis, but she didn't see him. She noticed that Miguel and Charity walking towards her. "Hi Miguel. Hi Charity." "Hey Sheridan," Miguel said. "Hi Sheridan. I love your costume, you look great," Charity said. "Thanks. You two look great as well. Miguel, have you seen your brother? I can't seem to find him." "Uh, yeah I just saw him not too long ago. He was waiting on you to get out here." He continued, but Sheridan didn't seem to hear a word he said because she spotted Luis coming over to her, flashing his sexy smile. "There he is. I'll see you guys later," Sheridan said, out of it, as she walked way from Miguel and Charity. Miguel and Charity shared a knowing look and smiled at Luis and Sheridan.

"There you are. I've been looking for my Danny Zuko," she said to him with a smile. "You look great," he told her. Sheridan looked at Luis from head to toe. 'Mmm…he looks hot.' "Thank you, Luis. You look amazing." Luis grabbed the collar of his jacket with both hands "I try." Sheridan giggled at him and she locked her arm with his and they walked away. "It looks like your dance is a success, Sheridan." Sheridan nodded her head. "I think so. Everyone looks great in their costumes, don't you think?" Luis looked at her, "To be honest, I haven't noticed anyone else." Sheridan smiled and kissed him on the cheek. "So, what does a girl have to do around here to get asked to dance?" she asked him sweetly. Luis grinned at her. "When it's you, very little. Would you like to dance, Sheridan?" he asked with an extended hand. "I would love to." She took his hand and he led her out to the dance floor.

Great Balls of Fire began playing as soon as they stepped out onto the dance floor. Luis was singing along and spinning Sheridan around. She was laughing and having a wonderful time dancing with him. As soon as the song ended, Unchained Melody came on and Sheridan and Luis smiled at one another before closing the gap between them. Sheridan placed her hands behind his shoulders and he wrapped his around her waist. They slowly swayed to the music, unaware of everything around them.

Other couples dancing around them stopped to watch Sheridan and Luis. They were completely enraptured with one another. Kay was talking to Simone as they too watched Sheridan and Luis dance. "Look at them, Simone. They are completely crazy about each other." Simone nodded in agreement but she found herself looking in Chad's direction. "I would give anything for a boy to look at me that way," Kay said. "Don't you mean Miguel?" Simone asked. "It would be nice if he looked at me that way, but I just don't see it happening while Blondie is around. I'd be happy if anyone other than Reese Durkee looked at me that way." Simone just shook her head. Theresa and Whitney, like everyone else in the gym, were watching Sheridan and Luis. "I can't believe how my brother looks at Sheridan Crane. It's the same way that I look at Ethan." "Theresa, please don't go there. Just because your brother is crazy about Sheridan, that doesn't mean he's going to approve of you ever getting involved with Ethan. He is too old for you right now." "Whitney! You just gotta believe in…" Whitney cut her off. "Do NOT say the word fate or I will clobber you!" Theresa just smiled and looked on.

Sheridan and Luis remained silent as they danced, but their eyes were saying all that needed to be said. When the song ended, the music picked up the tempo, but Sheridan and Luis continued to slow dance. Theresa came over to them. "Hey you two." Luis slowly turned his eyes away from Sheridan. "Theresa. Hey." "Hey Theresa," Sheridan chimed in. "You did a great job on the dance." "Thanks," Sheridan replied. "Luis, I hate to tell you this, but the music is fast now," Theresa said as she gave a knowing smile. Sheridan and Luis exchanged looks and shrugged it off. "I also need to borrow your date for a second, Luis." "Okay." Sheridan smiled at him and followed Theresa. Luis decided that it was time for her surprise. He walked over to Chad and asked him to play the song for Sheridan soon.

Sheridan was getting her picture taken with all of the girls at the dance when she heard Chad get on the microphone. "Hey everyone. We have a special request for the next song. I'm gonna need Sheridan Crane out here front and center." Sheridan heard her name and everyone turned to look at her. "That's you, you better get out there," Theresa said. Sheridan felt her cheeks blush red as she slowly walked out to the middle of the floor. Everyone had eyes on her. "This song is for Sheridan from Luis," Chad continued. 'What are you up to Luis?' She heard the opening bars to a song, but she didn't recognize it right away. Then, she heard the words.

Sherry, Sherry baby Sherry, Sherry baby She - e - e-e-e-e-ry baby (Sherry baby) She - e - rry, can you come out tonight (Come, come, come out tonight) She - e - e-e-e-e-ry baby (Sherry baby) She - e - rry, can you come out tonight

Sheridan saw Luis walking towards her and she felt her cheeks blushing. Luis was giving her his killer smile. "Care to dance with me, Sherry?" Sheridan laughed at him and took his hand to dance.

Why don't you come out (come out) to my twist party (Come out) Where the bright moon shines (Come out) We'll dance the night away I'm gonna make-a you mi-yi-yi-yine

"Luis, I can't believe you did this," she said with a huge grin. "I don't know whether to be completely flattered or really embarrassed that you found out my nickname." Luis grinned and winked at her. Luis spun her around causing her to giggle. She looked into Luis' eyes and felt her heart melting.

She - e - e-e-e-e-ry baby (Sherry baby) She - e - rry, can you come out tonight (Come, come, come out tonight) You-oo-ooh better ask your mama (Sherry baby) Tell her everything is all right

Why don't you come out (come out) with your red dress on (Come out) Mmm, you look so fine (Come out) Move it nice and easy Girl, you make me lose my mind

She - e - e-e-e-e-ry baby (Sherry baby) She - e - rry, can you come out tonight (Come, come, come out tonight)

When the song ended, Luis kissed her hand, and everyone started clapping. "Thank you for the dance, Sherry." Sheridan had only allowed one other person to call her that in her lifetime, but when Luis said it, she felt weak in the knees. She knew that was going to be his nickname for her from now on, and she loved it. Sheridan wasn't sure of what to say, so she just wrapped her arms around his neck and kissed him. "Thank you," she whispered. She felt happy tears forming in her eyes. Luis looked at her. "Hey, what's wrong?" he asked as he wiped away the tears. "Nothing, I'm just really happy. You really have a way of making me feel special and you have no idea how much that means to me." "Sheridan, you ARE special, I just want you to know that." "I'm glad that I waited for my surprise." Luis brushed the end of her nose with his finger and leaned down to kiss her again. Sheridan hugged him with all of her might once the kiss had ended. "Let's go get our picture taken, Luis. I want to remember this night forever." Luis smiled. "Okay, let's go." He grabbed Sheridan's hand and they walked over to get their picture taken by the photographer.

After their picture was taken, Miguel came over and asked to talk to Luis for a minute. Sheridan took this opportunity to give Luis his other surprise. She found Kay on her way to the locker room and asked her to help Miguel keep Luis occupied while she changed, and to tell Chad that she was almost ready for him to play the song she requested. Kay agreed and went on her way to find Miguel, Luis, and Chad. Sheridan opened her locker and took off her poodle skirt. She unzipped the garment bag and pulled out her other outfit. Sheridan pulled on the skin-tight black pants and zipped them up in the back. She took off her white blouse and changed into the tight black shirt that went off her shoulders. (For those that don't know, this outfit is like the one Sandy wore in Grease at the end of the movie.) She slipped into her black strappy heels and applied the red lipstick. She looked at herself in the mirror and smiled. 'I can't wait to see Luis' reaction to this.' Sheridan grabbed the leather jacket that went with the outfit and put it on as she walked out to the gym.

"Where's Sheridan?" Luis asked Miguel and Kay as he looked around for her. "I don't know, bro." Kay tried not to smile to give away the secret. Miguel heard all the guys at the dance whistling at someone and looked up to see Sheridan strutting towards Luis. Miguel's eyes opened wide and he tried to tell Luis to turn around, but no sound would come out. "What Miguel?" Miguel pointed to Sheridan and Luis turned around. Once he saw her, his jaw dropped to the floor. 'OH MY GOD' He thought. Almost on cue, Chad got on the microphone again. "Aight everyone, this next song is dedicated to Luis from Sherry." You're the One That I Want began playing and Luis couldn't move. He just stood looking at Sheridan from head to toe. Just like in the movie, Sheridan removed her jacket and flung it behind her. Luis laughed and had a huge smile plastered on his face. Sheridan grabbed his hand and pulled him out to dance. It was Sheridan's turn to sing along and she was dancing with him flirtatiously. Luis couldn't stop looking at her body. 'This is exactly the reaction I wanted,' she thought happily. When the song was over, Luis was still staring at her.

"Hello?" Sheridan asked as she waved her hand in front of his face. "Sheridan, I, uh, you look, WOW!" She laughed at him. "Well, you know, Danny got good Sandy and bad Sandy, I didn't want you to feel left out," she said slyly. "You are extremely thoughtful. I'm thoroughly enjoying this look." "Good." Luis chuckled and couldn't help but smile at her. 'She's gorgeous. Inside and out…most definitely out.' "Can we get a picture of this too? I am positive I want to remember this forever." Sheridan raised her eyebrows at him and gave him a small smile. She turned around to find her jacket and bent over to pick it up. She saw Luis looking at her, and she loved it. "Sure, let's go," she said pulling him over to get a picture.

Chad announced that this was the last song for the evening and to make it a memorable one. Luis looked at Sheridan. "Shall we?" he asked as he motioned to the dance floor with his head. Sheridan nodded and grabbed Luis' hand and locked her fingers with his. Sheridan looked up at Luis with her big blue eyes and he gazed back. She moved in close to him and wrapped her arms around him and rested her head on his shoulder facing him so she could look at him. He had one arm wrapped firmly around her waist and the other was resting on the back of her neck as he gently ran his fingers through her hair.

When the night has come And the land is dark And the moon is the only light we'll see

No I won't be afraid Oh I won't be afraid Just as long as you stand Stand by me

So darlin', darlin' stand by me Oh stand by me Oh stand, stand by me Stand by me

If the sky that we look upon Should tumble and fall Or the mountain should crumble to the sea

I won't cry I won't cry No I won't shed a tear Just as long as you stand Stand by me

So darlin', darlin' stand by me Oh stand by me Oh stand, stand by me Stand by me

When they pulled away, they found the gym was completely empty. "Well, it looks like we're all alone." "Hmm, too bad for us," she said as her mouth turned up into a smile. "Sherry, are you flirting with me?" Sheridan enjoyed hearing Luis call her that. "I might be, is it working?" "I don't know. I need to think about it for a minute," he said playfully. She smirked at him but grabbed his jacket and pulled him in for a fiery kiss. They broke away so they could breathe and Luis broke out into a huge grin. "Whattaya say we leave this mess until tomorrow?" he asked her. "Sounds like a plan. Are you coming over?" Sheridan asked hopefully. "I thought about it, but I think I need more persuading." She punched him playfully in the gut but kissed him again. "Come on Zuko, let's get out of here." Luis walked through his office and grabbed something before they left. "Hey, follow me to my house and then I can just ride with you to your cottage. K Sherry?" "Okay Luis," she said with a smile.

When they arrived at her cottage, she immediately kicked off her heels. "Ah much better," she said as she padded her feet over the carpeting. "Feet hurt?" "Yes, have you ever worn a pair of heels like that?" "Sorry, I haven't." "Well, that's good. I would have to worry if you had." Luis just smiled and shook his head. "So, what do you want to do?" she asked him. "I don't care. I just want to be with you." Sheridan smiled sweetly at him. "I just want to be with you too. I'm so thirsty. Will you get us something to drink?" "Sure." "I'll be right back." Luis watched her walk towards her room. He shook his head. 'It ought to be illegal for her to wear something like that and look that good.' Luis poured them each a glass of water and sat on the couch waiting for Sheridan. He got the movie that he brought with him and put it into the VCR and switched off the lights. Sheridan returned a few minutes later wearing flannel pajama bottoms and a fitted gray tank top. Luis saw her and thought she looked beautiful.

She plopped down on the couch next to Luis and noticed him looking at her. "What is it Luis?" "What happened to the bad Sandy outfit?" "Did you see how tight those pants were?" 'Doh! Why did I just say that?' "Well, as a matter of fact…" Sheridan blushed at his comment. "What I meant was that I couldn't breathe." "Oh. I thought you looked great in that, but I think you look beautiful right now." "Where did you learn to be so sweet, Luis?" "Hey, I'm just being honest." "So, what movie are we watching?" she asked curiously. "West Side Story." Sheridan laughed. "Hey, you said you got it so we could watch it together." "I know, and I'm glad you brought it over." "Good." He pulled her towards him so they could snuggle. "Why Officer, do you have an ulterior motive for watching the movie?" she asked teasingly. "Nope, just trying to stay warm." "Bummer." Luis chuckled at her and kissed her forehead and they started watching the movie.

"Hey Bernardo, your big number's coming up. Are you going to sing it for me?" Luis smirked at her. "Cute, Sheridan, cute." "I try," she said giggling. She leaned up and kissed him and then resumed her snuggling. "You know what Sherry?" Sheridan tilted her head and looked at him. "What's that Luis?" "I like you." Sheridan broke out into a huge grin. "I like you too."
