It has been about a week since Nikolas and Gia Last met. Gia has been otherwise busy working for the O’Lears. The rest of the time she spent avoiding Nikolas; someone who could make her fall. It is strange this emotion, on the border if not verge of love, yet not quite that perfect embodiment of life. Nikolas has decided to take matters into his own hands and has showed up at the O’Lear’s home posing as Gia’s close friend. Mrs. Unbeknownst to Gia, Nikolas and Mrs. O’Lear have conspired to give Gia the night out.

“So what you’re kidnapping me now?” Gia asked.
“Only if you’ll promise to stay with me forever.”
“Why do you talk like that Nikolas?”
“Like what?”
“Like that! You… you make me feel stuff and think stuff--“
“About me?”
“Huh…,” Gia looks away, “Ahhh, look,” Gia points to Wyndemere as the boat reaches the launch, “You’re home.”
‘It can be ours’ Nikolas thinks. “Yes indeed I am.”

Nikolas took Gia’s hand as they left the launch. Her usual sharp retorts had been replaced by confusing silence. Nikolas squeezed her hand and looked down at her.

"You feeling okay?" he asked.
"Yeah, fine," she nodded. "A little tired."
"I could take you inside and put you to bed," he suggested with a grin.
"Nikolas--" she spoke, attempting to free her hand from his.

He held on stubbornly, stopping and turning her to face him.

"What's wrong, love?" he asked.
"Don't call me that," she said softly. "I'm not your--"
"You will be," he said confidently.

Nikolas sighed and put her free hand on his arm, "Nikolas, you don't need to do this. I don't want you to do this."

"You're not supposed to want me to do this," he answered. "It's difficult to seduce someone who's willing to race you to the bedroom."

Gia giggled, despite her discomfort, and looked up at him for the first time since they'd left the boat launch.

"I'm serious," she said, regaining her composure. "I'm not going to let you do this."

"My beautiful Gia, you cannot stop me," he argued. "If you're convinced I'm only doing this because I think I have to, you're wrong."

"I don't believe you."
"I know you don't, but you will," he promised.
"No, I won't," she insisted. "I want things to go back the way they were, and if they don't, I'll refuse to see you, at all."
"Don't go there Gia," he warned her. "Don't turn this into a battle you can't win."

"I can’t believe this! You're so full of yourself! Look, poor, little, lonely Gia does not need you to try to make her feel special! We're friends, Nikolas, and that means a lot to me. Don't ruin it by trying to accomplish something neither of us wants."

"You don't know what I want," he said calmly. "Would you like me to tell you?"

"No," she answered.

He smirked at her firm refusal, "I want to see what you look like when you're lying in bed, with the moonlight shining through the window, quiet and dizzy from having me inside you for hours. I want to taste your lips on mine the first thing in the morning. I want to find out what your body feels like when it's wrapped up in mine in a hot, steamy shower."

Gia shivered and scrambled desperately to pull her mind away from his soft words.

*Your skin like dawn Mine like musk One paints the beginning Of a certain end. The other, the end of a Sure beginning*
