The loud sound of a car horn shattered the peaceful stillness of the morning. Cars of all shapes and sizes moved along the street, all of them eager to get their passengers to the destination they eventually sought days before. The morning was cold as it could be on a November day, maybe even more so, since there was actually snow on the ground and slightly sticking to the now wet grass. It was a day that most people hated.
Along the road, a young woman walked slowly with determination. She looked to be in her early twenties. Her hair was twisted into long shiny braids that fell to her waist. They framed her rounded oval face of sweet butterscotch that bounced with the slightest of movements. She walked with an accentuated grace, which seemed to come natural to her. With every breath she took, small puffs of hot air would blow through her delicate nostrils, which flared slightly at the combined smell of exhaust fumes and frost.
She looked at the cars in disgust. They were ruining the beauty of the morning which alone accompanied her every day on her journey to school. She loved mornings like this because it brought promise of a warmth that would soon soothe its warm caress on the land. She paused and, tilting her head toward the sun, let the sunrays touch her face. She smiled.

'Great', Nickolas thought, 'a traffic jam.'
Nickolas hated having to wait in traffic, again. He thumped his hand against the steering wheel, hard. Too hard. Dammit! He really was going have a bad day. Nik turned to look out the window of his car. He noticed a woman standing by the road who looked to be smiling at some secret joke. Now that was a peculiar sight. Why, in heaven's name, would someone be smiling on the side of the road on a day like this? Then she turned.
Gia. He should have known. Only she would do something that most people wouldn't think of doing. But then, she was just complex like that. She had a certain uniqueness about her that he just couldn't figure out. Though he had only known her for two years, he was still mystified by her presence.
And beauty. Yes, she certainly was that. He'd been attracted to her for sometime, awed by her frankness and, sometimes, her crude sense of reality. He swore he would hate her, especially for blackmailing Emily so long ago. Who would have thought that she would grow on so many people? Especially Em and Liz. He remembered a time when they would have liked nothing better than to scratch her eyes out at the slightest provocation. Now they were friends.
She stood still for a long time. So long in fact, that he thought she was frozen. Slowly, she extended her arms to the sky, stretching her long, willowy figure, arching her back. God, she was breathtaking. He would never admit it to her though. Maybe, if she would treat him nicer. He was going to hate himself for this....
