Gia looked to Lucky “Oh she’s much better, in fact she might be leaving the hospital tomorrow afternoon.”
Nikolas noticed Gia’s slight trepidation when she made the casual response he wished that she felt more open around his friends, the people that more to him than anyone in the world.
“Well we should be going, shouldn’t we Nikolas.?” Gia arched her eyebrows leaving no doubt in Nik’s mind that this wasn’t an actual question but a statement.
“Umm yeah I have that thing that I have to do at home umm really soon, Bye guys” Nikolas smiled at his friends and started to head to the Jag.
The Cottage
“That was really good Nikolas, I mean you must be the most excellent thinker in times of Crisis how suave and charming you were when you added an ummm between every word to Lucky and Liz. If they didn’t suspect something before they definitely suspect something now.” Gia looked intently at Nik not able to choose between smiling or frowning.
“I’m sorry I am not some master liar but I happen to enjoy the art of honesty and truthfulness. Unlike some people I feel uncomfortable lying to close friends about engagements I have in the future or present.” Nikolas delivered his retort with what he thought was the most solemn and honest look he could muster when all he wanted to do was laugh.
“Oh is that so. Well then would you mind telling me what you were doing near a certain pack of lifesavers a few minutes ago when I left to go to the kitchen?” Gia smiled she knew she had him now.
“ I was umm, looking for m-my” Nikolas paused to think before he spoke an action Stefan had taught him that was becoming most helpful whenever he was around Gia.”my keys, I was looking for my keys. in fact I don’t even remember a seeing a pack of lifesavers there.” Nikolas smiled triumphantly he had won.
“Why would you be looking for your keys when you always put them in your pocket for safekeeping? Why don’t you just admit the honest truth to a close friend Nikolas? Why don’t you just admit that you ate my beloved lifesavers?!” Gia smirked she loved having the last word.
