~Prologue~
INT. LAB. NIGHT
Pan up from ground. We see a woman is restrained to a chair, and she has a helmet like thing on her head. A man walks up to the chair. As we get closer, we see that the woman has a nose bleed. The young man comes around and sees that her nose is bleeding.
YOUNG MAN
Barbera, is there a doctor on duty, we got a problem here?
Immediately a team of scientists enters the room. The one leading them is obviously a dork. They walk up to the woman and see her nose bleed.
DOCTOR
Remove the helmet.
YOUNG MAN
It's not a helmet, it's a thought inhibitor. And that's not a wise idea, she's a dangerous woman.
DOCTOR
Well how, uh...dangerous can she be?
YOUNG MAN
She can read minds.
DOCTOR
Well she'll know you're afraid of her, so what? Take off the inhibitor.
YOUNG MAN
She is capable of controlling other people's minds.
DOCTOR
There are six men here. If she tries to control one of us, the other five can put that thing back on.
YOUNG MAN
With all do respect, you are new here sir. Now I think we should contact the research leaders, and find out if it's safe to keep it on...
DOCTOR
I have been left in charge of night care, and I will not bother the leaders until I have some form of diagnosis, now remove the helmet!
The young man places a key card into the armrest and the inhibitor opens up, revealing a beautiful young woman. The doctor hunches over her.
DOCTOR(VO)
Damn, she's fine!
DOCTOR
Hello. You, uh have a nose bleed. I just need to cauterize it with this laser.
(They never heard of tissue?)
The doctor uses the laser. The focus on Raina's eyes says that the laser burns a little bit.
RAINA(VO)
Put that laser down on the armrest, so you'll have your hands free to give proper care.
He does.
DOCTOR
There. As good as new.
RAINA(VO)
You don't want to put that thing back on her. It's inhuman what they're doing to this beautiful young woman.
The doctor steps back.
DOCTOR
This is inhuman, let's let her breath a while.
YOUNG MAN
No, we put it back on immediately.
RAINA(vo)
Don't listen to the miliataristic automaton, he's just surping your authority. You're in charge.
DOCTOR
No, I'm in charge here.
YOUNG MAN
Doctor, you are acting irrationally. Now I believe she is influencing your thoughts.
The doctor laughs.
YOUNG MAN
I'm gonna put it back on now.
Raina uses the laser to cut through her left restraint, and then pulls out the young man's gun and shoots him with it. She then shoots all the others except for the Doctor.
RAINA
Five dead.
One gets up. She shoots him again.
RAINA
Six Shots. Sloppy, but I am right-handed.
She gets up and starts to walk away. She tosses the gun into her right hand.
RAINA
Dr. Huggins. Your scientific mind might find this quite amusing.
She turns around.
RAINA
With all my remarkable powers, it still took me 6 months to make my nose bleed. Life's such a mystery. (She turns around again)Ah, and thanks for your kind thoughts.
She shoots behind her and kills Dr. Huggins, then walks away.
(Opening Credits)
~PART ONE~
EXT. SHAFTS. NIGHT
Pan down to window. A party is going on.
CUT TO: INT. CLUB. NIGHT
Hel, Sarge, and Cleo enter through the techni-color entrance.
CLEOPATRA
Party!
People all around are dancing to "music."
SARGE
Okay, spoil my fun; tell my why we're really here.
HEL
I'm serious, Sarge. Voice told us to come here, and the she stopped comminicating with me.
SARGE
So, is this a mission or what?
HEL
I don't know.
CLEOPATRA
Hey, maybe this was our mission. To have a good time. Voice knows how hard we've been working. Maybe she wants us to party like it's 2999, baby!
SARGE
I hate to admit it, but sometimes the kid's got a few ideas.
Cleo dances.
Sarge sees a guy.
SARGE
I'm gonna mingle. If voice contacts you, let me know.
Hel walks up to Cleo. They see a guy.
CLEOPATRA
Ooh, Hel check him out.
MAN(Computerized Voice)
Ladies.
CLEOPATRA
Hi.
MAN(Computerized Voice)
Care to exchange life support fluids?
HEL
You've got this one.
Hel walks away.
CLEOPATRA
Uh, I'll catch you next millennium, k?
She walks away.
MAN(Computerized Voice)
Too bad. Cause you know what they say...once you go cyborg you never go back.
CLEOPATRA
Cool.
She walks up to some people.
CLEOPATRA
Hey, cool. Rock!
Raina's POV.
She watches the whole scene.
WOMAN 1(VO)
Yeah, yeah workin' it! Yeah, go, woo!
MAN 1 (VO)
She dances like moon silver.
MAN 2 (VO)
I can't feel my legs.
MAN 3 (VO)
I wonder if she's real.
WOMAN 2 (VO)
Is that his hand on my leg? What a creep.
HEL (VO)
Voice sent us here to do something, but what? And why wouldn't she just explain it all to me, that's not like her.
Raina walks up to Hel who sits at the bar.
She losens up her neck.
The bartender gives Hel a drink.
BARTENDER
Here you go.
HEL
Thanks.
We see in Hel's profile view that Raina is right next to her, but they do not make eye contact.
RAINA
Hel, isn't it?
They look at each other.
HEL
And you are?
RAINA
A friend. I've come to talk about Voice. She's disappeared and you're worried.
Hel laughs.
HEL (Playing it off)
I don't know what you're talking about.
RAINA
Perhaps Voice has lost faith in you. I've seen it before. She'll abandon a team leader during a mission for no apparent reason. You have to talk to her.
Cleo comes in and startles Hel.
CLEOPATRA
Woo, girl! Okay, I admit he's no Brad Pitt, but...who cares?
Hel looks around and can't find Raina.
HEL
Where did that woman go?
CLEOPATRA
What woman?
HEL
She was helping me, we were talking about Voice.
CLEOPATRA
You were talking about Voice to a total stranger?
HEL
No, it wasn't like that. I didn't. It's like she was in my head.
CLEOPATRA
Oh, becareful. I dated a shrink who could do that. Very scary.
Sarge is having a good time on the dancefloor, dancing with a man. She jumps on him as Cleo comes up.
CLEOPATRA
Sarge.
He dips her.
SARGE
Go away.
Sarge jumps off of him. Now they are looking at each other.
CLEOPATRA
Hel's acting really weird.
SARGE
She's out of her element. She'll be okay.
They start to go off together when Cleo stops them.
CLEOPATRA
Have you ever heard the expression "they don't buy the cow if they get the milk for free"?
SARGE
What's a cow?
Cleo looks at her then walks away.
Focus is now on Raina who is standing on a ledge in the room, watching Sarge and her partner.
SARGE (VO)
All right, beautiful. Don't ruin it by saying something stupid.
RAINA
This is too easy.
PARTNER
Say, why don't you and I go some place, get butt-naked and do the belly-belly game.
Sarge is surprised.
SARGE (VO)
What an idiot. Oh well. I didn't want him for his brains anyway.
RAINA
Must've been a while huh? Fun's over. (Gasp) Time for paranoia!
RAINA (VO)
Why don't you tell her what's really bothering you, Pretty Boy.
PARTNER
You're not a Betrayer are you?
SARGE
Of course not? Why would you even ask that?
PARTNER
It's just that I heard rumors that Betrayers sometimes come here to pick up people and do who knows what to them. I'm sure it's just rumors. I have no idea why I just said that.
Sarge looks at Hel scared.
SARGE (VO)
Why would Voice tell us to come to a bar where there's been Betrayer rumors and not warn us? Maybe she did warn us, and Hel just didn't want to tell me. Her and Voice have been pretty tight lately. Maybe I'm out of the loop suddenly. Maybe there's no loop to be out of!
Cleo dances with some other people, having a good time.
CLEOPATRA
Hey, Hel how ya doin'?
HEL
Something's wrong. I have to talk to Voice.
Cleo goes over to Hel.
CLEOPATRA
Hold on, you're not going anywhere!
HEL
Huh? Oh, right. You know best Cleo.
CLEOPATRA
Okay, now you're really scaring me...come on.
Sarge is still looking at Hel suspiciously.
PARTNER
Hey, you wanna go freefall in the Shaft?
SARGE
Later.
She gets up.
SARGE (VO)
So...first she says she's lost contact with Voice, then she brings us here..a place crawling with Betrayers. I don't like it.
We see Raina is dancing with some guys, watching Sarge.
Cleo helps Hel to the bar.
CLEOPATRA
Just have a lean, okay?
We now here a news program on the hologram above the bar.
REPORTER
New this week this week on the evil Top 10 and making a rapid climb to the top, Raina.
The reporter goes on.
Sarge pulls Cleo aside.
SARGE
You said Hel was acting weird. What did you mean?
CLEOPATRA
She was talking to a stranger at the bar about Voice.
SARGE
What stranger?
Cleo looks around and sees Raina's face on the news hologram.
CLEOPATRA
Her!
Hel looks up and sees her too. She turns around.
HEL
Sarge! We're in danger!
SARGE
No (raises weapon) you are...Betrayer!
~PART TWO~
HEL
Put..the weapon..down, Sarge.
SARGE
BACK OFF!
Cleo jumps.
SARGE
It all makes sense now. The disappearance of Voice, the secret meeting with a stranger. You were going to eliminate us both, but you didn't count on me figuring it out did you, Betrayer?
CLEOPATRA
Sarge, it's Hel! Are you crazy?!
Sarge aims another weapon to Cleo.
CLEOPATRA
Not that I have a problem with that.
Cleo inches over to Hel.
SARGE
What so now you're on her side?
CLEOPATRA
Uh-huh. I mean no, no. I'm with you both. We're a team remember? Can't we all just get along?
SARGE
With a Betrayer? Never!
She shoots. Hel dodge. Sarge keeps firing, Cleo and Hel duck for cover.
HEL
Raina's gotten to Sarge!
Hel puts her sheild over her and Cleo.
Sarge continues to fire and break things.
She charges at Hel. Hel throws her over. They get up. Sarge charges at Hel and they fall over a table. They wrestle as Cleo watches. During the rolling wrestle, Hel's gauntlet is damaged and the sheilds fail.
Sarge has Hel pinned. Cleo comes over to them.
CLEOPATRA
Sarge, if you hurt Hel you're gonna regret it!
SARGE
The sheilds are gone, Betrayer.
Hel flips Sarge over her. Sarge lands on her feet and turns back around. She starts throwing things at Hel.
Sarge charges at Hel. They block each others kicks and punches. Hel flips high in the air and lands on the bar. She jumps down just in time to dodge Sarge's blast.
She sees that Cleo is already down there. Hel gets ready to shoot.
CLEOPATRA
Wait, Wait! I know that Sarge has totally lost it, but it's still Sarge!
HEL
It's either this or we let her pick us off one at a time!
A blast nearly hits Cleo.
CLEOPATRA
Okay, fire at will!
RAINA (VO)
Come on, Sarge. It's either you, or Hel. Who's in gonna be?
Sarge lifts her weapon and prepares to fire.
RAINA (VO)
That's a girl.
RAINA
Sooner or later Voice will be along to sort it out. And once she's talking to Hel, I'll be able to read her thought too.
Sarge fires again.
RAINA
It won't be long before I find out where she is.
Hel takes off her gauntlets.
CLEOPATRA
Now what?
HEL
Put these on. (Throws them to Cleo) You're going back to the lab.
CLEOPATRA
Me, why?
HEL
You have to get Mauser to build something that will control Raina's powers.
CLEOPATRA
But climbing those shafts make me dizzy!
HEL
All you have to do is go up a couple of levels, cross the 15th corridor, and then straight to the lab shaft. It's simple, I believe in you, now do it.
Cleo has put on the gauntlets.
CLEOPATRA
But without these you'll be defenseless!
HEL
Then you better hurry!
CLEOPRATRA
Okay.
Cleo runs out and aims her weapon at Sarge as she exits.
RAINA
Off to see Mauser? I think I'll tag along.
She follows out the techni-color entrance.
CUT TO: INT. SHAFT
Cleo is climbing the shafts on the weblauncher. She lands on a shaft and watches as the web retracts into her gauntlet. She turns around, takes a deep breath and keeps going. Raina follows behind, jumping higher and sticking to the walls. So technically they're both playing Spider-Man! :)
CUT TO: INT. BAR
Sarge still has her weapon aimed at the bar, waiting for Hel to come up.
Hel pops up.
HEL
Wait!
SARGE
This some kind of Betrayer trick?
HEL
No, no tricks. Just the truth.
She comes from around the bar.
HEL
Look at me, Sarge.
She prepares to fire.
HEL
Not with your mind with your heart. There was a woman in here earlier, she could control our thoughts. She tried to turn me against Voice, and you against me. Ah, come on Sarge, if I were a Betrayer you'd be dead by now!
Sarge realizes this is true, and lowers her weapon.
SARGE
Hel.
HEL
Yeah. I was hoping once Raina left, you'd come around. How ya feeling?
SARGE
Confused.
HEL
This woman, Raina. She knows Voice.
SARGE
Is she a Betrayer?
HEL
No, she's human. Or some advanced form of human. If Voice speaks to me, she can hear it by reading my thoughts. And I think that Voice thinks that it will compromise her security.
SARGE
Where's Cleo?
HEL
In trouble. Let's go.
CUT TO: INT. SHAFTS
Hel and Sarge are climbing the shafts on the weblaunchers.
HEL
When I sent Cleopatra to Mauser...
They land on a shaft.
HEL
...Raina must've followed her. That's what snapped you out of it.
SARGE
So, what's the plan?
HEL
Don't have one.
Sarge looks at her.
HEL
Look, if I did Raina would've read my thoughts and she'd be one step ahead of us. We're going to have to be spontaneous.
They turn around and continue upward.
CUT TO: SOMEPLACE
Cleo is running, trying to find the lab.
CLEOPATRA
Okay, now I'm lost. Must be the other way.
She goes that way and hears a big noise, then turns around.
CLEOPATRA
On the other hand...
She's made her way to a shaft ledge. She sees the lab entrance.
CLEOPATRA
Okay. I've seen Hel do this before.
She uses the web and glides through the false entrance falling on her butt.
MAUSER
Is there a problem Cleopatra?
Cleo gets up.
CLEOPATRA
Mauser! We need to build a--
MAUSER
Thought inhibitor. I know, Voice contacted me.
He hold his creation in front of him.
MAUSER
I've improved the designed with and Alpha wave blocker and a...
CLEOPATRA
Whatever, great give it to me!
Cleo takes it.
RAINA
I'll take that!
They look and see Raina. She gets up from her chair.
RAINA
You've been very helpful, Cleopatra, but...
Hel and Sarge enter.
RAINA
I won't be needing you again.
SARGE
Back off you major head case, I'll blow you to pieces.
Hel grabs Sarge's arm and stops her from hitting Raina with her blast.
SARGE
What are you doing?
HEL
We have to wait for Voice's orders. She doesn't want Raina killed.
SARGE
Well then we'll have to do it the old fashioned way.
Raina back flips into the pit.
Hel and Sarge front flip into the pit. They walk up to Raina. She jumps up and kicks them both in the head. Raina then blocks a series of kicks that Hel and Sarge throw at her. She then starts blocking punches and back hand punches. She hits them so hard in their face, that the fly backwards and land on the other side of the entrance platform. They jump right back over.
Cleo remembers that she has the thought inhibitor in her hand and gets an idea. Raina continues to win against her two opponents. She jumps up and kicks them in the head several times while in the air, before Cleo puts the mind inhibitor on her head.
CLEOPATRA
I did good right?
HEL
Yeah. You did good.
Hel looks at Sarge, and Sarge looks at Cleo.
CUT TO: INT. LAB
Raina rests in the same chair as in the beginning, and is restrained with the helmet looking inhibitor on her head.
CLEOPATRA
I don't like her.
SARGE
She's a creepy one.
MAN
Now girls, this inhibitor is not a toy.
HEL
Okay, Voice. I choose to believe that you stayed out of touch because you knew that Raina would read my mind.
VOICE
Exactly.
HEL
I take it you have history with her.
VOICE
Raina was once very much like you.
HEL
What's that supposed to mean? Voice? Voice? Oh, now you stay away, Voice!! VOICE!!!
