Chapter 1 of CONFUSION

“Thorne, we need to talk.” Brooke said as she entered Thorne’s office. “What about?” Thorne asked. Normally he would have said they had nothing but work to talk about, but now he could see he shouldn’t go with that. There was something in Brooke’s eyes that made him think that maybe this was something that really shouldn’t be ignored from his side. “Well, I know I made a promise to you not to get in the way with you and Macy and upon until this very day I had every intention to keep my promise, I really did.” “What made you change your mind?” Thorne asked. He realized he was revealing to her that he in a way wanted her to break her promise. It had been tough on him as well to stay away from her and ignore the feelings he had for Brooke. God, he wished he hadn’t asked that. It made him seem as someone who didn’t care if someone or something got in the way of his marriage. Before Brooke could answer his question Macy came running in to Thorne’s office. She looked fast at Brooke and smiled inside over her presence. From the look of everything nothing huge had been said in there. “Thorne, something wonderful has happened!” she screamed out. She knew that this wasn’t right to anyone, but she couldn’t loose Thorne. She had to, she kept telling herself. “Macy, do you mind? I was about to tell Thorne something I would think a lot more important than what you have to say.” Brooke said, annoyed of Macy’s sudden presence. “Brooke, forgive me, but what is more important than having a baby!?” Macy screamed out, watching more for Brooke’s reaction than Thorne’s. Brooke and Thorne however at first looked at each other, but then Thorne realized what Macy’s words had meant. He was going to be a father, that would have to be more important than Brooke, wouldn’t it? As Macy continued to smile, Thorne tried to smile back. “Are you sure?” he asked, in he way he was hoping that it wasn’t true, that maybe he had heard wrong or something had gone wrong with the test. “Positive! You know, I was just there for a check up and I asked for a pregnancy test you know just in case. I just couldn’t believe it when it came out positive. Thorne, we’re having a baby!” Macy said, loud and fast. The next minute she threw herself in Thorne’s arms, hugging him. Over his shoulder he could see Brooke, watching them. They looked at each other for a while, both trying to hold back the tears they so badly wanted to show. Brooke glanced at the couple in front of her one last time before she turned around and slowly walked away.

She didn’t stop walking or trying to hold back her tears until she sat down in her office. The tears didn’t seem to stop coming. “Should I have told him anyway?” she asked herself out loud. “No, no I did the right thing. That would probably be the last thing he’d want to hear right now…” she cried. “I mean, two such big things on one day. That and knowing what has happened for such a short time. How would he react if I told him anyway?” she thought to herself. “I can’t risk anything. What if he would tell Macy and she’d suggest…? No! Never, I’d never let that happen.” She heard knockings on the door. She dried her tears the best she could. “Come on in.” The door opened and there was Ridge. Just what she needed… “What do you want?” she asked cold, thinking about how she would have been feeling right now if Ridge and Eric hadn’t destroyed everything. “Logan, is something wrong? Have you been crying?” Ridge asked, realizing she was probably crying about Thorne, which would be his fault. “Does it matter if I have? You know; we know that tears won’t get us anywhere, but still… we let them come. All the good it does…” “Logan, I know we haven’t been the best of friends lately and that’s because of me. But I’m here if you need someone to talk to.” “I don’t need someone to talk to. I need Thorne! That’s something you’ll never be able to give me, isn’t it?” Brooke answered; not knowing that Thorne was standing outside her office, hearing everything that was said in there. He couldn’t bare himself to knock on the door, he felt as if he needed to hear Brooke talk to Ridge. Even if he didn’t have any business in Brooke’s love life anymore. “Logan, I know you don’t believe me, but I am sorry for what happened.” “Oh, sure you are. If you really were you never would have done what you did, would you?” Ridge didn’t know what to answer. “You know, my entire life has been ruined thanks to what happened in Venice. And as if it couldn’t get any worse…” “What? Did something happen?” “You could say that. There is just so much going on. You’d think I’d got used to it by now, but…” she stopped her sentence, choosing between telling him what was going on or if she shouldn’t. She chose the second option. “Ridge, could you just leave me alone?” “I don’t think you should be alone when you’re this upset.” “You’re right, I shouldn’t. That’s why I’m going to take Bridget and go visit my parents.” “In Paris?” “Yes. But, could you do me a favor?” “Anything.” “Inform your father that I might gone for a while. Giovanni will be taking over here after me as the CEO.” “Giovanni!? He’s a photographer!” “And a very good one. What’s your point, Ridge?” “He doesn’t know anything about running a company. Especially not a multi-million one!” “That may be true. But frankly Ridge, I don’t give a damn. OK?” “Logan, think about what you’re doing…” “I’m doing the only right thing. At least that’s what all of you should think. Think about it; I’m leaving so I won’t be a threat to poor Stephanie or to Thorne and Macy’s marriage. That should satisfy you. Now, will you tell Eric or not?” Ridge didn’t bother answering, he just left in anger. Brooke took a deep breath, dried some new tears away and left her office with a very sad face. Thorne came out from his father’s office where he had hide when Ridge left. Brooke is leaving? Why? Oh, that’s a stupid question. She’s leaving because of Macy’s pregnancy! “I can’t let her throw her life her away because of me and Macy having a baby.” He said to himself and then left for Brooke’s house.

“Honey, are you sure you want to leave because of this?” Katie asked her older sister. She had been shocked by Brooke’s news about the baby. “Yes, I am. There are so many people involved and I’m tired of going through all of the battles with the Forrester family. It’s not good for anyone.” “Wow, I just can’t believe you’ve finally realized that.” “I guess I never wanted to admit loosing to Stephanie, but now I have to put my pride after, for everyone’s sake.” Katie nodded and gave her sister a supporting hug. As Brooke stood up to go talk to Bridget about leaving Thorne came through the front door. “Brooke, I have to talk to you.”

As Katie left to talk to Bridget instead, Brooke and Thorne sat down on the couch. “What do you want, Thorne?” “I know that things got a bit unexpected earlier with Macy showing up with her news. But I’d like to know what you were going to say before that.” “What I was going to say?” Brooke said, trying to act confused. “Yes, you said it was important.” “Oh! Well, I was just going to tell you that I’m going away for Paris.” “Oh.” Thorne responded, trying not to let her know he had been eavesdropping and that he didn’t want her to go. He knew it was selfish of him not to after marrying Macy, but he couldn’t just let her leave. “Brooke, I don’t want you to leave because of Macy’s pregnancy.” “I’m not. I’m leaving for several reasons. Reasons that you really don’t have anything to do with. Nothing can make me stay, nothing.” Thorne looked miserable. “I need to get away and I also wanna spend some time with my parents. I haven’t seen them for a while.” “Are you coming back?” “I honestly don’t know. You know; I don’t have to answer your questions. I have no obligation to you whatsoever. That ended the minute you married Macy. But it’s OK, I know that I should just back off now. You’re having a child with her and that’s all that matters. Now, could you please just go.” Brooke said as she was feeling tears come to her eyes. Thorne didn’t want to, but he knew that he had to. He was torn apart between Brooke and Macy & the baby. “GoodBye.” He said as he left, tears now coming to his eyes as well. “GoodBye…” Brooke responded and burst into tears when the door was shut behind him. Katie came walking down the stairs. She saw her sister in tears and went to comfort her. “What happened?” She asked as she sat down next to her older sister. “Nothing. Nothing happened and that’s how I want it to be. Look at me. How pathetic can a person get? I wanted him to just back off and be with his wife and their child, but then when he is I can’t handle it.” Brooke said, having tears run from her eyes. “Are you sure you wanna do this?” “Do what?” “Leave him here without telling him the truth?” “Katie, I have to. And you know why!” “I know, but I never said I agreed with you. Big difference! Brooke, are you really sure about this?” “Yes I am. I can never let Thorne know I’m pregnant with his baby.”
