I thought that the most dramatic and imposing part of the trail was the 2.5 miles from Trail Crest to the Summit. Hovering around 14,000 feet for much of the route, the trail passes some formidable spires (the so-called Needles). The "windows" are sections where the trail abutts a verticle chute which literally plunges thousands of feet in the space of a yard or two.
