Your executive officer, Commander Day, nods his approval at your decision and gives the order.

Wayne Day: Mr Styles, launch the probes.

Six probes are unleashed from the Excalibur. Your tactical officer, Jefferson Styles, and your operations officer, Tiffany Hunter, track their progress.

Jefferson Styles: Probes have been launched, captain.

Tiffany Hunter: Receiving probe telemetry.

The probes enter the nebula and vanish from the main viewscreen.

Tiffany Hunter: Captain, we've lost the signal on two of the probes, the nebula gases are too dense.

Jefferson Styles: I'm still readings probes one through four, sir. They are rounding the upper hemisphere.

Several minutes later, Styles reports.

Jefferson Styles: Captain! Probe three has picked up a solid object within the nebula.

The science officer, Xiang, decifers the probes readings.

Vex Xiang: Judging by mass and alloy composition, I would classify this object as a vessel. However, the readings are not conclusive.

Wayne Day: Should we investigate, captain?
