Captain's Log

=/\= Captain's Log =/\=

The last five and a half months since leaving spacedock have been hell. We left our peaceful era of the 25th century behind as we tested the new Experimental Time Engine; that was the easy part. After the first test we set a course back to 2492 but something went wrong. We were flung thru the timesteam 50 years short of our home, damaged and bewildered.

After fixing the ship we tried again but overshot by 50 years, leaving us damaged yet again. The damage can be fixed but crew morale will be difficult. Rumors are spreading that we are cursed, that we should have never left, and I can not help but think the same thing.

I gave the crew the option to stay where we were and fix the problem or complete the three missions for Starfleet we were sent to accomplish after the successful tests. My crew shocked me by voting to complete the missions so we did. Everything  finally went smoothly. The missions, while difficult, fixed the temporal fluctuations we detected by stopping them at their sources. I only regret that it took us two and a half months to complete them.

With the missions complete we decided to try to go home again. After altering some of the experimental time engines systems to fix what was thought to be the problem, we embarked. This time we were flung out again ending up in 2041. As repair crews began, a vessel was spotted exiting time transit that barely registered as Borg. Temporal sensors were unable to get a set time lock on where it was from. I wish now that we had run when we had the chance.

Within minutes the ship was crippled, on emergence power, with over half the crew dead and the rest ranging from hurt to badly injured. We quickly found these Borg to be different. While some had chroniton phasers in their arms others were exploding chroniton bombs. Our energy weapons were useless, but bladed weapons worked just fine. After a few minutes we managed to get the Omega Flyer's replicators working on making as many bladed weapons as we could. Quickly putting them in use we managed to secure a battle front and came up with a plan to push them back, retake vital areas, and delay the Borg long enough to escape.

By the time it was over our plan had work but at the cost of every Senior and Junior ship's officer except myself. But even my life came with a price, now I take injections that keep Temporal Borg nanites dormant while I lie to my crew and tell them that everything will be fine. In truth I know now that we are cursed.
