Impersonating a
Starfleet Admiral, abandoning her ship the USS Mystic, violating the
Temporal Directive, and Grand Theft Starship was what Mysty now
faced if she were to encounter an investigating Timeship, but
currently she had other problems. Mysty was wearing an Admiral's
uniform and standing on a Section 31 Starbase next to a half
Romulan half Vulcan called Talon Tekon the son of Sharek Tekon and
Ael Tr'Radiak Tekon the former Captain and Chief Medical Officer
aboard the Old USS Mystic. She was currently looking out a window watching
the strange ship that brought her here, called the Dragonwraith a
half Cardassian Galor half Excelsior hybrid, enter a temporal portal.
Mysty looked at Talon, "What do we do now, Captain?"
As Talon
contemplated the decision Mysty's mind replayed the events that
brought her here.
Click,
thump, and then a muffled pop; was all Mysty heard as she
spun her head around to look at Sharek at the Tactical Station,
only she didn't see him. Mysty sprang to her feet stepped on the
captain's chair and hurdled the tactical station landing beside
Sharek's body. Mysty scooped him into her arms as she examined the
gunshot wound; Sharek had shot himself with one of the old
catridge weapons blowing his brains out. As
Mysty looked at the hole she saw nanites reconstructing a Borg
implant to fill the hole, Mysty whispered, "I'm so sorry" as she
ripped his skull open further locatiing the central processing
node. To Mysty's surprise it was fully developed so she pulled
it out throwing it in a pocket. Quickly she took Sharek's phaser,
stood up and set it to its maximum setting, as she fired she could
see the bodies temperature rise and then finally disintegrate; she
collapsed sobbing, unable to stop crying her tearless cry, knowing she was now alone.
She knew
not, how long she sat there clutching the phaser, with her hands
around her legs as she softly sobbed. Her A.I. was offline, the
crew was dead or lost across the timestream, and now Sharek Tekon
who she though of like a brother was dead. Suddenly she heard a
male voice behind her, "Miss, what happened here? Where are
you from?"
Mysty
looked back at a Bajoran man wearing a late 24th century
Starfleet Uniform; the man appeared to be in his late 20's and had
Lt pips on his collar. Mysty stood up and brushed off the
rank-less 25th century Starfleet uniform, "It's a long story, what
year is it Lt."
Lt, "Um, May
27th 2374."
Mysty
quickly decided to lie, "I am Admiral Paulson of the USS Mystic.
We were in a fight that we barely escaped I will need this ship
towed to the nearest Starbase and access to this ship denied to
everyone but myself."
Lt,
"Ma'am I can have you beamed to the Dragonwraith, immediately,
you will have to present this to the Captain." Mysty just nodded
and listened as the Lt. gave the order for them to be beamed
aboard. Ten minutes later Mysty had repeated what she told the
Lt. along with the line 'Any other information in this matter
would violate the Temporal Prime Directive; The Human Captain
took everything in great stride and agreed to tow the ship back
to Starbase 13. As the meeting with the Captain ended Mysty
asked, "I am intrigued by your ship, how did you come about
creating the Dragonwraith?"
Captain,
"Use the computer at my desk and listen to the log I am bringing
up, by that time I will have an Ensign waiting to show you to your
quarters."
Mysty
sat at the Captain's desk and played the following Captain's Log
from DS13:
=/\= DS13 Commander's Log =/\=
Our regular six-month supply
ship had just departed when a Cardassion Galor-class came in to
test our defenses. Seeing we had none, the Cardassians
attacked; but we managed to get off
a distress call.
Our supply ship, the
U.S.S. Draken,
responded to our call for help and slugged it out with the enemy
vessel. We towed the two combatants back to base, and began
repairs (that is what we do here).
Starfleet didn't seem
interested in the captured Galor-class. They also wrote off
the Draken,
one of the old Excelsior class, as no more than salvage; I had
other ideas.
Since some of my best people
worked for Chief O'Brien on DS9, they know there way around
Cardassian/Federation tech interfaces. Neither ship was
salvageable; so from two hulks, we reconstructed one ship.
To honor the crew of the
Draken
lost in our defense,
we have named her the
Dragonwraith.

Mysty
exited the Captain's Ready Room and followed the Ensign to her
assigned temporary quarters. Once inside Mysty interfaced with the
computer Terminal there finding out as much as she could about,
the Dragonwraith, DS13, and any possible help she could get here.
In the end she found plenty of information, a Starbase no one paid
much attention to, and no help in sight.
At the
Station Mysty was given one of their finest rooms and offered help
in fixing the ship, instead she only allowed them to give her some
portable power packs and a few tools. Once ready she was beamed
over to the Mystic's Engine Room where she immediately went to the
Chief Engineer's Office. There she saw Terminal X powered up and
still active. Terminal X, "The Captain had no choice Mysty, he
felt himself turning and thought it would delay the process long
enough for you to finish the job; you did the right thing."
Mysty,
"It still doesn't make me feel better. Terminal, how's my ship?"
Terminal
X, "Mysty, there's not much left to save. Many of the systems can
be salvaged and possibly repaired but the infrastructure itself is bad."
Mysty,
"Is there any way to move you to a different ship?"
Terminal
X, "The easiest way is to remove my central core and hook it up to
the new Chief Engineer's Station or Main Enguineering Station, my circuitry would then take over
and convert the station."
Mysty,
"What about the remains left behind here?"
Terminal
X, "Without the central core the remains will disintegrate; the
Temporal Borg's way of minimizing stolen technology by outside
forces."
Mysty,
"If I connect to you, can you upload everything I need to know to
dismantle everything we can't leave behind due to the Temporal
Prime Directive?"
Terminal
X, "Certainly that and more, do you have a ship in mind to put everything on?"
Mysty,
"For now I will prepare everything to be transported onto the
Station's starship the Dragonwraith. When the time is right I will
commandeer it and tell them I am leaving the Mystics old hull behind for
them to work with while I'm gone. Once I beam everything over we
will use a covert subspace carrier wave to contact section 31."
Terminal
X, "I have all the necessary information you will need to pull
this off ready for upload. My only question is why Section 31?"
Mysty,
"There is an Admiral Tekon in Section 31 there, the Captain
planned on going to this time period to find out if he was a clone
or a future self of that Tekon. I plan on completing the mission
and enlisting his aid to get a new ship to attach everything to.
If Sharek was a clone I still have his central processing node, it
should contain all his memories; hopefully they can create a new
Sharek and download them into the new body." Mysty interfaced with
Terminal X and received the upload.
Terminal
X, "I hope you know what your doing, if a Timeship arrives to
investigate its over for both of us."
Mysty,
"I got nothing left to lose." As Mysty left the office she set to
work on getting the power back up to make the work a little
faster. Over the next 6 months Mysty successfully removed and
packed everything she couldn't leave behind, including the A.I.
chamber, the Avatar setup, both computer cores and finally
Terminal's central core.
Mysty
went to lie to the base commander, "Sir I will need to commandeer the
Dragonwraith to complete my ship's mission. "
Commander, "You want to take our only ship defense from us, how
typical of Starfleet Admirals, we should be use to you taking our
creations by now."
Mysty,
"I will be leaving the remains of the USS Mystic for your crew to repair, fix,
or scrap while I'm gone."
The Base
Commander's eyes lit up at the promise of a new challenge as he heard this, "Well in that
case, I will have command turned over to you for your mission,
Admiral."
Mysty,
"I must complete the mission alone your crew will have to abandon
the Dragonwraith."
The base
commander got on the comm system and gave the orders, an hour
later Mysty faced the Dragonwraith from a viewport as the Base
Commander and the Dragonwraith's Captain saw her off and wished
her luck. Once aboard Mysty used the transporters to move
everything she had prepared and many items and objects she didn't
from the Mystic, leaving behind an empty hull, before heading away from DS13. She travelled till she
was out of sensor range and began work on sending the transmission
to Sction 31. Finally Mysty set the external comm system to broadcast on a known Section 31
channel, "To all Section 31 ship's I have an urgent message for
Admiral Sharek Tekon."
Mysty
waited for three days, the entire time she sat in the Captain's
chair unflinching until finally she hear a familiar voice behind her, "You
have a message for me."
Mysty
turned around and looked at a much older Sharek Tekon, "I am about to
violate the Temporal Prime Directive but I served aboard a
Timeship called the USS Mystic, captained by Sharek Tekon from the
25th century. He died in a fight against a very dangerous enemy we
call the Temporal Borg a threat unlike any anyone will ever face.
My ship's First Officer was Ariss Zorran... your Ariss Zorran whom
you sent into the past when she decided to retire
from Section 31, using a temporal pod your research department designed. I am an Avatar of a Federation Starship's Advanced
Artificial
Intelligence and the only survivor of my ship, my name is Mysty. I
realize you may not know what I'm talking about but I have
Sharek's DNA code on file and only need to examine yours to find
out the truth."
Admiral
Tekon was silent for a few moment's, "I will help you how I can,
we scanned your ship and verified you are from another time period
and that this ship contains matter from multiple such periods.
That along with your story and knowledge of section 31 and it's
officers leads me to believe you; as for your Sharek I can already
tell you he was a clone. We have perfected a cloning process just
last month and I was among the volunteers they tested growing
matter from. Most likely my DNA was kept on file and a clone
created in your time period."
Mysty,
"Actually he has your memories as well which means you will
actively contribute to this program at some point. I have one last
request though I need a Starship, preferable Brand new and close
to being finished so I can put what systems I salvaged from my old
ship on it and possibly remodel. All I can give you though is the ship I am on now."
Admiral
Tekon spoke cold and calmly, "I will get some operatives on that, in the mean time lets
head to the Starbase which houses our research department and
verify our theories."
Once at
the Starbase it was verified that Captain Tekon was a clone and
Mysty shared her idea of growing a new Tekon and trying to use the
processing node to download Sharek's memories into it. Unfortunely
they currently had no way to transfer the data from the node so
one would have to be created. Luckily in January of 2375, Section 31 was able to
obtain a
Sovereign Class Starship Shell with warp core from a building facility under guise of a
hijacking. Mysty immediately connected Terminal to the Main
Engineering Station and together over the next eight years with
Section 31's help, they finished the decks, attached all the systems, switched out the
cores, remodeled the ship, and rebuilt the A.I. chambers. By the
time the New Mystic was completed and Mysty hooked to it she was
notified that the new Sharek Clone was ready and that they had
developed and succeeded in downloading his memories from the node
and uploading them to the clone.
Admiral
Tekon met Mysty at the cloning chamber that currently held the new
Sharek Tekon. Mysty looked at the chamber as Admiral Tekon spoke,
"He is twenty years younger than when you last saw him, I'm afraid
that's all the further we can safely advance age him with our
current technology."
Mysty
smiled, "All that matters is I have my Sharek back." finally the
moment of truth arrived and the pod was opened, the clone was
removed and taken to a special medical bay where Mysty sat by the
New Sharek's side waiting for him to wake up. Finally Sharek woke
up screaming, Mysty calmed him down, explain what had happened, and
took him to see the New Mystic currently sitting beside the
still unmanned but Section 31 updated Dragonwraith. As they stood there looking at the ship
Sharek spoke shocking Mysty, "I don't want to be Captain,
I'm sorry Mysty; all I want to do is find Ael, settle down, and
raise our son Talon and our daughter Alana."
Before
Mysty could respond a strange voice spoke up from behind them,
"Perhaps I can help, I am fully trained in all Starfleet
departments and know all about both the old Mystic and it's crew."
As Mysty and Sharek looked at the man they saw a half Romulan half
Vulcan with long Black hair and blue eyes wearing a strange
looking uniform. Sharek looking strangly at him spoke up first, "Who are you?"
"My name
is Talon Tekon, I'm your son," Talon spoke as silence filled the room.
Finally
Mysty broke the silence, "If you are who you say you are what is
the full name of your mother and what was the name and fate of the ship's
secondary A.I."
Talon
stated without pause, "Ael Tr'Radiak Tekon, the secondary A.I.'s
name was Dawn recreated on the Mystic by Anthony Damien Tobias and
at the end put on the Fey'ri by him before he ran away on the eve
of battle; you two also were good friends before they left."
Sharek
walked up and hugged Talon tears in his eyes, "Son, seeing you lets me know your
mother's alive and give me hope. Where is your
mother, I need to go to her?"
Talon
sperated from the hug and frowned,
"Sir, I'm afraid that due to circumstances happening during and
after completion of Team one's objective; as well as things you
have yet to do I can not tell you that due to the Temporal Prime
Directive, and your use of the Pi Directive."
Sharek
looked at Talon as he backed up to a wall console, "Your definitely
my son alright, and if your as knowledgeable of Starfleet as you
say you are, you will make the Perfect Captain for the New Mystic.
As Talon and Mysty hugged, Sharek stood with his hands behind his
back near the
console.
Mysty
stopped the embrace and turned to Sharek,
"I'll miss you Sharek, but if your son will be the new Captain, at
least I will still be with family."
Talon,
"I'm sure we'll get along great" as Mysty was about to respond
Sharek disappeared in a transporter beam. Mysty walked over to the
console as saw he configured it to remote beam him to the
Dragonwraith. As Mysty made her way back to the window next to
Talon. she looked at the Dragonwraith going to warp, "What do we do now Captain?"
As Mysty
finished replaying the events that lead her here she heard Talon
respond, "Let quickly get to the Mystic and get out of here
before they come after you for him stealing their ship."
Mysty,
"How did you get here?"
Talon,
"I was sent thru time from the future, I'm sorry but I can't tell
you more than that."
Mysty used her
link to the new Mystic to beam them aboard, once on the bridge
Mysty sat at the Helm and Talon went to Tactical. Talon cloaked
the ship as Mysty went to warp and slowly increased to
maximum warp to get back near Earth and
away from the Starbase. As they flew Mysty looked back at Talon,
"What happened to Alana?"
Talon
looked down as he spoke, "I let my guard down for one second and
she was gone, disappeared.
I know shes alive,
we have a temporal mental link that allows us to feel what the other feels
and lately she has been frightened and alone."
Mysty,
"We'll find her Talon. Now what's your orders?"
Talon
walked over to the Captain's chair and sat down, "Lets find
ourselves some crew."
