Rebecca R. Dax was born on her father's home planet, Betazed, while her mother was attending a funeral for one of her Betazoid friends. Rebecca's mother, a Ktarian, died during child birth leaving her daughter in the care of her father, Guines Dax. Rebecca was raised on several starships while her father worked as a medical officer. When she was older, Rebecca studied deep space technology, astronomy, and astrometrics at Starfleet Academy. After graduating and serving on a ship as an Assistant Astrometics Officer, Rebecca requested duty on the USS Avalon NCC-3002. Her request was granted shortly after she was promoted to the rank of Lieutenant.
