Important! Read these rules before applying to the Back
USS Charleston NCC-70570!
Posting and Ratings
1. The USS Charleston is a faster paced game, requiring players to post at a minimum of answering all outstanding posts within a 72 hour period, or if unable to do so, post an announcement to the list requesting a leave of absence. Players are encouraged to post more frequently if inclined to do so. The 78 hour minimum is just that..a minimum. The GMs will post at least once per day, and most likely twice a day, to answer outstanding player posts, and players may respond at an equal or greater rate.
2. No leave of absence will be denied for any reason, but once a post requiring a player's response is outstanding for 72 hours, a re-post will be issued. If after a 96 hour period a player has not responded or requested a leave of absence the player will be considered AWOL, and the GM will privately e-mail the player with a warning. The player then has an additional 72 hours to answer outstanding posts or request a leave of a absence. If the player does not respond within that time period disciplinary action will be taken as follows:
1. First AWOL-- The GM will place the e-mail address of the player in question on no-send status until hearing from the player. The GM will then privately notify the player that they have been placed on no-send status. Once the player responds to the GM the player will place the player back on the list to receive and answer e-mails, with no further disciplinary action.
2. Second AWOL-- The GM will place the e-mail address of the player in question on no-send status until hearing from the player. The GM will then privately notify the player that they have been placed on no-send status. Once the player responds to the GM the player will place the player back on the list to receive and answer e-mails, and the GM has the option to discipline the player through in-character disciplinary action. This can be done either by denial of a players PC's further involvement in the main story line, to prevent further delays in the mission, delegating the PC to instead become involved in subplots, or denial of due promotions when the time comes.
3. Third and subsequent AWOLs-- The GM will place the e-mail address of the player in question on no-send status until hearing from the player. The GM will then privately notify the player that they have 72 hours to respond to the GM privately of their intention to stay in the game, and reasoning behind the AWOL, or else face removal from the game. The GM will be fair in the evaluation of reasoning of the players third AWOL, and a third AWOL does not automatically result in removal from the game if ISP/e-mail problems, emergencies, etc. are the cause. If the GM does decide to permit the player to continue in the game, an appropriate in-character disciplinary action will be taken.
4. These rules and disciplinary measures are set up to keep the pace of the game flowing, and are not intended to discourage players from committing to the USS Charleston. The GMs will take into consideration, at all times, extenuating circumstances which may have resulted in an AWOL. However a short post asking for leave of absence, is not only courteous to your GM, but also to your fellow players, if you know that you will be away from the game for more than 72 hours, in advance of that time.
Types of Leaves of Absences:
If at any time you plan to be away from the game for longer than 72 hours, you are required to request leave. Simply write the GM and let him know when you will be starting leave and when you will return. Requests for leave WILL NEVER BE DENIED, however you may be required to place your character in a different type of leave. The three types of leave are explained below:
1. Regular Leave - You will be away from the game for up to seven days. During this time you will still be subscribed to the list and will continue to receive posts.
2. Extended Leave - You will be away from the game for more then seven days. It is the player's option whether they would like to be removed from the list or not during their time away.
3. Hold Status - You will be away for an unknown length of time (or anytime greater than three weeks). Player will be removed from the mailing list until they return to the game.
Ratings
This game is rated PG-13. This rating requires two things of players.
1. You MUST be at least the age of 13 to play in the game. A level of maturity is expected among all players to obey the rules and post thoughtfully and creatively.
2. Posts with excessive violence, abusive sex, abusive language, either in or out of character will not be tolerated. Players in violations will receive a first and second warning. Upon a third violation the player will be removed from the game. In this game the action is consistent with the Television series. We do accept the occasional bad language as long as you control it & is appropriate to the current action of your player. As a rule of thumb...don't write anything that you wouldn't see or hear on the shows or you would react yourself to a similar true life situation, and all will be fine.
