T'Maekh tr'Lennex entered into the Lennex house on the Earth equivolent of October 23, 2351. The House of Lennex has long been considered by many on ch'Rihan to be one of the most honorable families in history. The family is also one of the oldest in Romulan history, having survived close to a millenia in whole. The family currently owns a plantation on the southern continent of the planet, and they enjoy a seat on the Emperial Senate.

When T'Maekh was six, he was sent away to an Academy of Academic Sciences on the planet of J'Ala, one of the outer Romulan systems. There he spent ten years studying everything from the History of Federation Agression to the how to guard your emotions from telepaths like Vulcans and Betezeds. He graduated at the top of his class with the highest honors ever to be received at the Academy. From there he returned home for one year, but his tenure at his plantation was cut short when his mother was suddenly killed while at a science conference in the capital. His father seemed somewhat distant after this event, and his son did not think anything of it. His parents had loved each other greatly in the years that they had been bonded. One day, about two months after his mothers funeral, he asked his father to sponsor him to the Galae Academy. He reluctantly agreed, and T'Maekh left home once again.

Once at the academy, T'Maekh decided to focus on tactical and intelligence. He strived at both, and graduated a year early, albeit fourth in his class. His early graduation is attributed to his disregard to social relationships while in study. He finds them a waste of time, unless he is on active duty.

After he graduated he was immediately assigned to the RES Falcon as a Security Officer. There he spent two years where he quickly climbed the ranks, and reached his peak position as Chief Tactical Officer at the rank of Enarrain. His tour of duty was cut short when he received word that his father was dying on ch'Rihan. T'Maekh went immediately home to see his father before he died.

Little is known of what was said that day, but Starfleet Intelligence has found out from official sources inside the hospital that day, that his father told him of how his mother died. She was not randomly murdered as T'Maekh had been lead to believe, but it had been a military raid to search for Unificationists. This was enough to make him mad, but to learn that it was his father that had ordered the raid, he was totally shocked. When his father died, he took only the time to go see his brothers and sisters, and to see his plantation one last time before taking a Galae Shuttle which he had been assigned, and defecting to the Federation.

When he reached the Neutral Zone, he was immediately confronted by the USS Enterprise-D, and he was asked to return to Romulan space. When he informed Commander William Riker that he planned to seek political asylum, he was immediately brought on board and debriefed by Captain Jean-Luc Picard. Captain Picard sympathized with his story, and agreed to sponsor him to Starfleet Academy.

At the academy, he was one of the first Romulans to enter. He was also one of the brightest. Although he was surpassed by Vulcans and Humans when it came to intelligence, he routinely made the highest scores on fitness tests, and tactical sims. He graduated after three and a half years with a major in Tactical Sciences, and was immediately admitted to Starfleet Intelligence. He spent a year there, learning about he most classified of Starfleet operations and missions, then was assigned to the USS Sunfire. He was given the rank of Lieutenant Junior Grade because of his exemplary work in both the Academy and Intelligence. He is considered a dangerously intelligent man, and his passion for honor and duty are unsurpassed by anyone ever to enter Intelligence.
