FIRST CITY, REYDOVAN PRIME (11 April 2503): The shattered ruins of Reydovan Prime are a testament to the war that nearly plunged the Twelve Systems into a state of anarchy.
The events of the last two weeks effectively ended the rule of the Imperial Family and the death of the Empire itself at last. The people of the Twelve Systems have seen two years of bloody infighting and several major battles. The entire war was ended in one swift stroke with the destruction of the Betrayer's warfleet over L'nhraei.
Losses were horrific. Emperor Kiran Joshmaul III, the greatest Emperor in the history of the Empire, and Emperor Daniel James Longstreet I, the most evil dictator we have ever had, have joined each other in death. Chancellor Joshua Wardell Underwood, the Liberator of the Free People, has returned to bring his homeworld back to its former glories. Reydovan Prime's population was destroyed in the great storms which flash-flooded the entire planet. The Imperial Palace is all that remains of the shattered First City, having blasted into high orbit as the Severnaya exploded. The destruction of our capital was best described in "The Fall of Reydovan Prime" by Rear Admiral Dustin Sykes, who had commanded the Fist of Reydovan during the Battle of L'nhraei.
"Blood is the price of freedom," Underwood said in an address to the Reydovan Council of Chancellors upon his return from the Imperial Fringe. "We have paid our debt in full, and our people are free from oppression at last. Yet we must remember the lesson of Reydovan Prime and the lesson of the Battle of L'nhraei. We must never let our guard down in the slightest, or we will fall before the oppressors."
Chancellor Underwood is currently en route to Daekhra on the Liberator, the titanic battleship he commanded in the Battle of L'nhraei. Admiral Sykes, we are told, is already there. The two men will most likely be involved in Longstreet's trial which was never completed due to his escape.
