FIRST CITY, REYDOVAN PRIME (24 September 2502): Making his triumphant return to Reydovan Prime after a month-long crusade through the Twelve Systems, Chancellor Joshua Underwood raises the Republic flag over the Imperial Palace for the first time in seven months.
After addressing the galaxy on August 20, Underwood hunted down the Imperial Warmasters who allied themselves with renegade Reydovan Emperor Kiran Joshmaul II in early February and brought them before the Inquisition, the head legislative and judicial body. During the fighting, Deputy Reydovan Chancellor Padraig Norris was killed by renegade High Warmaster Josephus. His replacement has not been determined, but it is rumored to be granted to L'nhraei Commonwealth Ambassador Natasha Stuart for her year of assistance to the Chancellor's regime.
The Chancellor returned home early this morning, at about 4:00am Reydovan Standard Time. Chancellor Underwood awarded the Order of Reydovan to his ship commanders and the Iron Cross to the crews of the ships. The turncoat Warmasters are now awaiting the firing squad, and replacements are being trained by the Inquisition. "The Empire has not been killed," Underwood said. "It has been exterminated. Let this be a reminder to any Imperial sympathizer who wishes to oppose the Republic."
Emperor Joshmaul II is now dead and the Royal Family either executed or imprisoned. The only elusive member of the Royal Family is Empress Natalya, the wife of Emperor Joshmaul I, who escaped on the Auriga-class science vessel Severnaya with former science minister Duke Artimus. A republic squadron led by Discovery Two, commanded by Admiral Vasily Borodin, are hunting down the Severnaya and anyone who knows about her location.
Chancellor Underwood returned to the negotiations with the L'nhraei Commonwealth late last month and hopes to finish them off by the year's end.
