PUERTO GALERA - ASIA DIVERS

ASIA DIVERS

I spent a week diving with Asia Divers in November 2010, logging my 1,000th hour underwater as well as completing my fifth PADI specialist course - EQUIPMENT SPECIALIST.

All of my dives were under the leadership of either Alli or Pete, with an amazing "critter count" as well as some bizzarre critters that I had not seen before plus another bunch of new nudibranchs to add to my collection.

My thanks to all the Filipino support crew who manned the boats, filled the tanks and carried the gear as well as handling my camera gear.

Thanks also to Anie of El Galleon Resort for organizing the pickups, transfers etc., and all the staff at the resort.

Additionally thanks to Alli, Pete, Jamie, Andrew and Shel of Asia Divers as well as those I dived with, Leah (US), Miike, Sinni, (Finland), PA (Sweden) and Nico (Belgium).

Unfortunately I missed all the frogfish, but did see some interesting new nudibranchs as well as some new critters.

Asia Divers is based in Sabang Bay near Puerto Galera, and is probably the most organized dive resort in that area with some noticeable key advantages over their competitors.

1. Asia Divers have a jetty to board and disembark the dive boats (the other resorts have no jetties and divers wade through the water and climb into the dive boats.

2. All of the speedboats have TWO motors, whereas other dive resorts have only one motor on their dive boats.

3. Hot towels after the dive, just like flying business class

Other key points about ASIA DIVERS include

1. A dedicated NITROX analyzer who checks your tank with you prior to fitting the regulator.
2. Well organized and secure gear storage area
3. Tank, BCD etc., loaded and unloaded to and from the boat.
