A lake within a volcano is the apt description for this famous tourist spot. The volcano's crater, itself filled with water, rises out of the lake which, in turn, is actually the crater of an underground volcano. A cluster of craters, formed in many previous eruptions, can also be found on the island from which the main crater rises. The volcano and lake are best viewed from the elevated surrounding areas like Tagaytay ridge where there a number of ledges and hotels.
