Bodylift Helpful Hints

Ok I know there are instuctions already typed up out there (here actually) so let me skip typing them up. The problem with these, as
with most instructions, is what they don't tell you. This is what I hope to provide for you.

First some tools you will need: Philips head screwdriver, sockets (in metric) 18,10,8,and a T-55 with the respective ratchets, a drill and 1/2" bit
, a floorjack, and some wood blocks. Some extra tools that make
life easy are an impact wrench, a torch, a 15mm socket (explained in a minute),
1/2" breaker bar, vicegrips, and 7/16 and 15/32 drill bits.

THE MOST IMPORTANT TOOLS ARE COMMON SENSE AND TIME

The first thing the instructions will have you do is find the body bolts. I suggest using the 15mm socket and removing the seats (at least the passenger side) before trying to reach the ones out back.

The next problem is (after a few steps) loosening the body bolts. Thanks to the factory every bolt you're moving will be covered in loc-tight. Thats not a bad thing, usually, but it does make this harder. If it available, some people use torches and/or impact wrenches, I didn't have a torch and don't care for my impact wrench (it was free with the compressor, and worth every penny). Turning the bolt head just spun the nut, so what I did was use the jack like so.

Those pictures are from front to back. With the front, the vicegrips hold the nut from spinning. On the middle and back nuts the 2x4 is used with the jack to hold ( by lifting) the nut. With a little pressure applied from the jack, the bolt spins out with some motivation by the 1/2" breaker bar.

Now with it all loosened up (both sides) the front mounting pad needs to be drilled out, here I recomend going in steps. Start with a smaller bit (7/16" took off the threads if I remember correctly) then use the 15/32" bit, I found this to be easier than using just the 1/2" bit alone.

Now for the timeframe 3-4 days is plenty of time. It took me a weekend and someone really handy with the right tools and someone to help can be done in a day (so I'm told)
