When she was three, her father's ship, the U.S.S. Simpatico, was destroyed under suspicious circumstances. During the court martial trial, much attention was placed on the fact that her father was not aboard at the time of the explosion. Rather than face discommendation for a crime he did not commit, her father resigned from Starfleet; moved the family to Betazed; and, in order to feed his voracious hunger to travel the stars, joined the Maquis. His duties with the Maquis called him away from the family, often for months at a time.

In her 16th year they received a message from a Maquis officer who had grown close to the family. Her father had been gone on this particular assignment for nearly six months and they had begun to worry. The officer informed them that her father had been on a raid when his ship had been ambushed by three Jem'Hadar attack ships and destroyed.

She mourned for three years. Then at the age of 19 she joined Starfleet Academy. She did this to follow in her father's footsteps, and, if possible, avenge his death.

Her first assignment was on the U.S.S. Chimera. On this ship she proved to be something of a maverick upstart, but eventually earned promotion to Lieutenant (junior grade) and was transferred to the U.S.S. Wolverine, on the front lines of the Dominion War. Here, her drive for vengeance came out, and she distinguished herself in battle many times over and was being considered for another promotion. All hope of promotion was dashed, though, when she took her vendetta a step further and, defying a direct order, executed a very high risk tactical maneuver which injured three crewmembers and nearly killed her. Although her actions were responsible for the victory in that battle, she was demoted back to ensign for insubordination and transferred to the U.S.S. Potomac, where she currently serves as Assistant Tactical Officer.
