Chief Tactical Officer
This character is responsible for all electronic war waging systems used by the ship for defense and attack. Their role becomes very important in battle situations where weapons must be fired and the shields raised.
The HTO normally works at a station on the bridge. An auxilliary control for tactical work is also located in Engineering.
Unlike on most ships, aboard the Washington the Head Tactical Officer position and the Chief of Security position are two separate posts. However, the Head Tactical Officer often serves as assistant security officer and vice versa.
Examples from Star Trek include Worf and Tuvok.
This is a bridge position that sees a moderate level of inclusion in all missions and a heavy level of inclusion in space faring missions (especially those involving ship-to-ship battle).
