The Aurora Inn is located on Front Street
about three blocks east
of the heart of Nome's business district. The facility opened in 1999, and is the most modern and luxurious in Nome.
Four room types are available: standard, standard with kitchenette, premium with kitchenette, and executive suites (The Aurora Executive Suites are located at a separate facility
on the other side of town. Pictured below.
The rooms are very well kept and everything (furnishings, fixtures, carpet, and walls) looks practically brand new. Standard amenities include
king or queen beds, cable television, telephone, and alarm clock. The bathroom included soaps lotion, shampoo, sewing kit, shower cap,
and blow dryer. Our kitchenettes featured microwave oven, fridge, coffee maker, some dishes and utensils,
tea, hot cocoa mix, and microwave popcorn.
A conference room and sauna are also available. The Aurora is also home to Stampede vehicle rentals, which has pickups, vans, and SUVs.
Summary: We were very impressed with the newness, quality, and luxury of the rooms and facilities. What more can we say? (the prices are reasonable too)

The Nome Nugget Inn is a charming, rustic
hotel located on Front Street, right in the heart of the business district. The building and lobby
are decorated with numerous Gold Rush Era artifacts and memorabilia. The Nugget also features a cocktail lounge
(The Gold Dust Lounge) overlooking the Bering Sea. A popular full-service restaraunt (Fat Freddy's) is attached to the Inn.
The Nugget's 47 rooms are smallish but comfortable. Ours was equipped with twin beds, a small desk, cable television, telephone, and alarm clock, and restroom with shower.
Summary: The Nugget is my personal favorite in Nome. While the rooms are somewhat small and not terribly fancy, the building has
a fun nostalgic feel to it, with a very friendly staff. The location is also a big plus, with saloons, shops, and restaraunts
very close.
