Be warned this will be a huge story once it's finished. (If it gets
finished)
Disclaimer: *sighs* Unfortunately, I don't own Voyager, but
fortunately Paramount doesn't own our imaginations.
Rating: If you are old enough to watch the show, you are old enough
to read this. Just some deep kissing and little romance. Have fun.
Therefore, I rate this as PG.
Scavenger Hunt part 1
Kathryn had just gotten off duty. She stepped into her quarters and
locked the doors. She picked out a comfortable long sleeve shirt and
a pair of matching slacks. Kathryn then went to wash the day away
with a soak in the tub. When she got out, she replicated a cup of
coffee and settled in on her couch to read "Les Miserables". Just as
she finished the first chapter, her desk console beeped. She got up
and spun the console around. Kathryn had received an anonymous
message. The subject was "Invitation". She touched the icon to
bring up the message.
It read, "You have been invited to participate in a scavenger hunt.
If you decide to join, send a reply within 15 minutes. If you send a
reply, after 25 minutes, you will receive the name of your partner,
where it begins, when it takes place, and the game rules. Please,
join in."
Kathryn shrugged and said, "Why not?" She typed, "I'm in," and sent
the message on its way.
*****
Twenty-five minutes later, Kathryn's console beeped again. "Finally,"
she said. Kathryn had been getting excited. She was pretty sure who
her partner would be. If he was in, she would almost certainly be
paired with Chakotay. She knew it would be fun. When they were
alone and off duty, she could be a free spirit. No pressure, no need
for authority, just two friends having a good time. She brought the
message up. It read,
"Partner: Chakotay
Where: Hydroponics bay
When:2 days, at 2200 hours
Rules: You can only discuss the scavenger hunt with your partner,
behind closed doors. If it is discovered that you told anyone, you
and your partner will be disqualified. If you have a question, send
it by way of reply."
After Kathryn had stored the message in memory, her door chime
activated. "Come in, Chakotay," Kathryn said as she unlocked her
doors.
"How did you know it was me?" he asked with a thoroughly charming
grin.
"I'm psychic...or is it psycho?" she asked mock quizzically.
"Both, I'd say," Chakotay teased and then ducked a pillow that was
playfully thrown at his head. "Are you trying to tell me that you
want a pillow fight?"
"Maybe," she said as she ducked into her bedroom to get some real
artillery. She tiptoed back to the doorway and gently leaned her
back against the wall. Kathryn grabbed a sweater that was near her.
Then she threw it at the same level as her head out the doorway. In
that instant, Chakotay swung his pillow down at the sweater and
Kathryn spun around and hit Chakotay with her pillow. She easily
sped past him to her livingroom.
"I should have expected that from you, Kathryn," he said. Kathryn was
in front of her desk and looked like she could dart in any direction
needed. Chakotay smiled slyly and started stalking her like a
panther. Suddenly, he sprang at her. She easily avoided his attempt
and swatted his back with her pillow.
"I'm not that easy to catch," she teased from behind the couch.
"Tell me about it." She laughed at this and went over the back of
the couch just as Chakotay was closing in from the side. "It seems
I've met my match," he said.
"Perhaps," she said. Chakotay came around the couch and started
slowly advancing towards Kathryn. He was backing her into a corner.
When Kathryn noticed this, she acted like she was going left, but
pulled short, and went right instead. Luckily, for Chakotay, he
realized she was going to do this. He managed to get an arm in front
of Kathryn and pull her to him.
"Perhaps," he said and started to tickle her. Soon they were rolling
on the floor, pillows forgotten, laughing. Chakotay trying to tickle
Kathryn, Kathryn trying to escape. Somehow, Kathryn managed to gain
the upperhand and she pinned Chakotay to the floor.
"I should be more careful with you around. Tell me, Chakotay, are
you ticklish?" she asked with her hair brushing against his face.
"No," he said way too quickly for it to be true. So, Kathryn pinned
one of his arms under her knee and used her now free hand to tickle
him. "Stop," he gasped, "Can't breath!"
"If you can talk, you can breath!" Kathryn said as she continued to
tickle him. Unexpectedly, he hooked his arm under the leg that pinned
it and flipped her over. The tables were turned yet again. They
were both breathing fast. Their eyes locked. She leaned up and he
leaned down. They met in a passionate and long waited for kiss.
When it broke, Kathryn felt fevered and Chakotay had chills. He
released her wrists and supported himself with a hand on the floor.
His other hand was on her face. Kathryn was surprised at the passion
in the kiss. She had long ago locked away the feelings that were
surfacing now. She reached up and traced Chakotay's tattoo with her
fingertips. She looked deeply into his eyes.
"Do you have any idea how long I've wanted to do that?" she asked.
"About as long as I've wanted you to." He smiled at her without any
mask. Kathryn leaned up and kissed him again. This one was like
fireworks. It left Kathryn with the chills and Chakotay with the
fever this time. After the kiss she left her hand on his face and
rubbed her thumb across his lips.
"I love you. I know I pushed you away and I did my best to keep you
from getting too close. But I was just being silly. I can't lie to
myself anymore," Kathryn said as she looked into Chakotay's eyes and
saw the passion in his eyes.
"I love you. I have for a long time. I will always love you," he
said as he shifted into a sitting position. Kathryn sat up and
allowed him to pull her into his arms. They stayed like that for
what seemed like an eternity. Kathryn was so comfortable that she
fell asleep. Chakotay gathered her into his arms and stood up. He
sat down on her couch and cradled her so she was leaning against the
arm of the couch and him. Chakotay watched her sleeping peacefully.
Eventually, he was lulled asleep by the rhythm of Kathryn's breathing.

Scavenger Hunt part 2
IT IS NOW 0600 HOURS. IT IS NOW 0600 HOURS.
IT IS NOW 0600 HOURS. IT IS NOW 0600 HOURS.
"Computer reset alarm for tomorrow," Kathryn said as she heard the
alarm emanating from her bedroom. She looked at Chakotay and smiled
at last night's events. Chakotay was still asleep, having not heard
the muffled alarm. His arms were protectively wrapped around her.
Kathryn put a hand on the side of his face and gently kissed his
lips. "Chakotay, wake up. We have to get ready for duty." He
slowly opened his eyes and smiled.
"That is the way to be woken up," he said and kissed her cheek.
"I'm going to take a shower. I recommend you go to your quarters and
get ready," Kathryn said as she slid off Chakotay's lap and stood
with a long stretch. "Will you come over when you're ready to get
some breakfast?"
"Delighted to," he said as he stood up slowly. "See you soon." He
worked the kinks out of his neck and left her quarters with a
noticeable spring in his step. She smiled as her eyes trailed after
him. Kathryn went to her closet and pulled out a fresh uniform.
"Hmm, lavender or rose?" Kathryn said as she weighed her choices for
her scent today. "Lavender, I think." She turned the water on for a
hot shower and went into her livingroom and locked her doors.
*****
Kathryn had just dried her hair and put on her robe when her door
chime activated. "Enter," she said as she unlocked her doors, just
in case it wasn't Chakotay. But it was.
"Hello, this is unexpected!" Chakotay raised his eyebrows and smiled
cunningly as he walked in.
"You don't need to make a big deal out of it. You've seen me in just
a towel before," she reminded him.
"Yes, I have," he grinned wickedly. "May I have a kiss?" he asked
almost innocently.
"After I am properly dressed, you terrible man!" She disappeared
into the bedroom, much to the chagrin of Chakotay.
"Do you need any help?" he called to her from her desk chair, where
he had sat down to wait for her.
"No!" she yelled while trying to sound offended. But she gave
herself away with a hearty laugh. She walked back into the main area
with her hand closed and said, "Actually, yes, you can put my pips
on." Kathryn held her hand out palm up like a challenge.
"Gladly," he accepted. He took the pips from her hand and placed
them in the appropriate spots. We the last was in place, he put his
arms around her waist and said, "How about that kiss?" Kathryn
responded by putting her arms around his neck and stretching up on
tiptoes to give him his kiss.
"One more?" he asked after she had set the heels her feet back on the
floor.
"If you come and get it." Did he ever. It was so intense that
Kathryn started leaning backward. Chakotay starting leaning as well
to keep the kiss going. Soon they had leaned far enough back that
they had to support themselves on the desk.
"Neelix to Janeway." Kathryn and Chakotay grinned and stood up
properly.
"Janeway here. What can I do for you, Neelix?"
"Captain, as you know, another talent night is coming up in three
weeks. Could you, maybe, if it wouldn't be any trouble...convince
Commander Chakotay to give a presentation?" At his name, Chakotay's
mouth dropped open, only to for it to be instantly covered by
Kathryn's hand.
"I'm sure that I can do that." Kathryn almost laughed at the sight
of Chakotay's wide eyes.
"Thank you, Captain. See you in the mess hall."
"That you will. Janeway out." Chakotay shifted Kathryn's hand so he
could kiss her palm. As he did, she said sweetly, "So, what talent
are you going to show off?"
"I'm not going to be in the talent show," he said and smiled just as
sweetly at her.
"Yes, you are. Come on, let's go to the Mess Hall," she said to
change the subject and pulled him towards the doors.
"Alright," he allowed her to lead him out of her quarters. Chakotay
had the sneaking suspicion that Kathryn was going to win this
particular battle. As they were waiting for the turbolift, they
edged closer and closer, until they were kissing. Then the doors
opened to reveal none other than, Tuvok.
He raised an eyebrow and said, "Hello, Captain, Commander," as they
stepped into the turbolift.
"Hello, Tuvok," Kathryn said with a slightly embarrassed smile.
"Hello," Chakotay said overly cheerfully. "Deck 2." Soon an
uncomfortable silence settled over them.
"Computer, halt turbolift," Tuvok said out of the blue. "I sense
your discomfort. If it is caused by unsureness of my thoughts on
your relationship, I will "clear the air" as it is said." He turned
to Kathryn and said, "Captain, you are my friend and I approve of
your choice of a companion." Then he turned to Chakotay and said, "We
have had differences, nonetheless, you will take care of her. In
conclusion, I approve." Tuvok resumed looking straight
ahead. "Computer, resume." After the suddenness of Tuvok's speech
had worn off, Kathryn and Chakotay grinned at eachother.
"Thank you, Tuvok," said Kathryn.
"Really, thank you," Chakotay said as the doors opened to deck 2.
Kathryn and Chakotay stepped out while Tuvok stayed behind to head up
to the bridge. As they walked to the Mess Hall, Chakotay got an
idea. "Kathryn, if we keep us a secret until the scavenger hunt, it
could be to our advantage."
"How?" She was taken by surprise. Kathryn never thought that he
would want to keep them a secret for any amount of time.
"If we were in the holodeck, anyone who saw us holding hands or
kissing would be thrown way off guard. They would think we were
holograms. Or they might mistake us for another couple." Chakotay
was going to talk about the scavenger hunt when he came over the
night before, but he got distracted to say the least.
"That is a good idea," she smiled meanly and said, "I'll have fun
tempting you."
"Two can play at that game, Kathryn," Chakotay said as they entered
the Mess Hall.

Scavenger Hunt part 3
"Good morning, Captain, Commander," Neelix said in a cheery, sing-
songy voice. "Today, we have a dish similar to Earth's oatmeal and
some fresh cut Kyah fruit," he said as he served up two bowls and
gave them each a plate of a citrusy looking fruit.
"Thanks, Neelix. It smells good," Kathryn said.
"Thank you," Chakotay said. They walked over to an empty table in
the corner and sat down. Then Chakotay started snickering for no
apparent reason.
"What is it?" Kathryn asked giving Chakotay a weird look. All he did
in response was laugh harder. Soon he was laughing hard enough that
his eyes were tearing up and that crewmen were starting to
stare. "Chakotay, if you don't tell me what's so funny, I'm going to
start poking you," she whispered as she leaned over to him. This
served to make Chakotay laugh hard enough that he was holding his
arms over his stomach. After a few minutes of this he managed to
gain a semblance of control.
"I was imagining everyone's reaction if I suddenly kissed you, right
here, right now," he whispered with a wide dimpled grin.
"Oh, that is funny," she started laughing which got Chakotay going
again. "I can just see the shocked expressions and Neelix trying to
pull you away from me and clubbing you on the head with a pan,"
Kathryn giggled as quietly as possible. Now, everyone was looking at
their captain and commander like they had gone completely insane.
"Captain? Commander? Are you okay?" Neelix asked. The sight of him
at that precise moment made them lose all control they had gained.
Kathryn managed to nod.
"Yes, we're okay," she laughed, "It's just something really funny."
Neelix walked back to the kitchen, shaking his head every step of the
way. "We really should get ourselves calmed down. We have only
twelve minutes before our shift starts," she said in a barely
contained whisper.
"You're right. Let's have a silent meal." Chakotay smiled and
started eating his cooled breakfast. Now that he was quiet, Kathryn
had only a little trouble making no noise. When they both finished
eating, they stood up without a word and took their dishes over the dishwasher.
Then they walked to the turbolift and got in when the doors slid open. "Deck 1,"
Chakotay said. They were staring straight ahead to keep from cracking up. Both
were thankful that there was no one else in the lift. Kathryn felt a smile tugging at
her lips. She did her best to straighten them out, but soon gave up. Then the doors
opened to the Bridge.
"Captain on the Bridge," said Tuvok from his station.
"As you were. Report," Kathryn said as crisply as possible.
"Sensors indicate nothing in our immediate range except a dustcloud
nebula."
"Good. Commander, would you join me in my Ready Room?" she asked in
the most serious voice she could muster.
"Aye, Captain." He followed her into the room and as soon as the
doors were closed, he closed the distance between them. Chakotay
wrapped his arms around Kathryn and kissed her forehead. "So, what
is the purpose of our little tryst?"
"To discuss the scavenger hunt," Kathryn said as she walked to the
couch. "It's a good thing we have the day after it off."
"I quite agree. We should wear some comfortable clothes, since we
have no idea what we'll have to do."
"That sounds good." Kathryn had sat down and curled her legs under
her. She was leaning towards him just a little bit. Kathryn looked
very excited and that charmed Chakotay completely.
"I don't think there is anything else to plan," he said as he
turned to face her.
"We'll just have to wing whatever else comes along. Let's go ahead
to the Briefing Room." Kathryn liked the idea of that. Too often she
couldn't feel safe without knowing everything that could possibly
happen.
"I wouldn't mind that." Chakotay stood up and offered Kathryn his
hand. She took it and stood. Chakotay swung her in a grand gesture
into his arms with her laughing all the way. "I love you," he said
to her smiling face.
"And I love you, my knight in shining armor." He swooped down and
kissed her. After they parted, she said, "I bet you 10 replicator
credits, that I can keep from touching you throughout the senior
staff meeting."
"You couldn't resist. You're on. I bet you the same." He grinned
knowing that he would soon be 10 rations richer.
"I'll take you up on that bet. And that includes shoe touching,
which you have made quite a habit it of lately," Kathryn said because
she knew Chakotay thought she hadn't noticed.
"Who, me? I don't do stuff like that! Never! We better go," he
said all but the last sentence very sarcastically. They laughed and
forced themselves back into command mode before leaving the Ready
Room.

Scavenger Hunt Part 4
"I can't believe we both lost," Kathryn said after she and Chakotay
had returned to her Ready Room after the staff meeting.
"I can. You're devious," he gave her a dimpled grin.
"Oh, and I suppose you're not?" she asked sarcastically. "I guess
you just happened to hand me that padd in such a way that I would end
up touching your hand."
"Absolutely, correct. Let's go to the bridge."
"All right. But, be warned, Chakotay, I will get you back," she
playfully threatened.
"I'll look forward to it," he said to make her laugh.
*****
"Where did the day go?" Kathryn asked. It was now 2000 hours and she
and Chakotay were in her quarters, yet again.
"We spent it trying to flirt without the crew noticing," he grinned.
"I wasn't flirting! I would never do that!" she sarcastically
denied. Kathryn stood up from her end of the couch and sat down on
Chakotay's lap. "Do you think anyone noticed?"
"I'm sure Tuvok did, and Tom turned around once to give me a smug
knowing look. But, I think the only thing he knows is that I am
helplessly, hopelessly in love with you," he said as he wrapped his
arms around her and started nuzzling her neck and shoulder.
"You are, are you? That's nice to know." She sighed and made
herself comfortable while Chakotay continued his affectionate
pursuit. "That tickles," she laughed throatily. "Rub my shoulders,
please."
"As you wish." He started gently and slowly. Chakotay found a tight
spot and carefully got it to release. She moaned softly and leaned
back into him. "This seems familiar."
"This time I won't run away this time, I promise." She turned and
snuggled against him and closed her eyes.
"I think we sleep better if we could move around a bit," he whispered
into her hair above her ear.
"All right. I trust you." She eased off of him and they walked to
her bed. He laid down on his side and held his arm up in an inviting
pose. Kathryn laid down in front of him with her back to him and
laid her head on his arm. Chakotay wrapped his arms around her in a
protective embrace. Kathryn put her hands over his and interlocked
their fingers. "Good night, Chakotay."
"Sweet dreams, Kathryn," he murmured.
*****
IT IS NOW 0600 HOURS. IT IS NOW 0600 HOURS.
IT IS NOW 0600 HOURS. IT IS NOW 0600HOURS.
"Computer, reset alarm for tomorrow," Chakotay mumbled while doing
his best to fall back asleep.
"Chakotay, have you forgotten? Tonight is the scavenger hunt,"
Kathryn said as she rolled over and favored him with an amazingly
chipper smile.
"It's not til 2200hours. Let's sleep in," he said as he opened his
eyes a little and smiled slightly at her unusually good precoffee
mood.
"You can, that is, if you want a reprimand if you are late for duty,"
she teased as she stood and went to her closet and took out a fresh
uniform. "Besides, we have tomorrow off."
"Okay, you've convinced me. I'll come back before breakfast."
Chakotay stood and stretched really wide and said, "Don't wear
lavender today, it will distract me to a point of forgetting that
we're a secret." He flashed a dimpled grin and headed over to his
quarters.
"Maybe I will, and maybe I won't," she called before the doors
swished open. All he did in response was chuckle. As he stepped
into the corridor, Chakotay was spotted by Tom Paris. His eyebrows
raised at Chakotay's slept on hair and wrinkled clothes.
"Good morning, Chakotay, I trust you slept well," Tom teased.
Chakotay suppressed a groan and said, "Morning, Tom." Tom laughed
and continued on his way. Chakotay went to his quarters and got
ready for duty. About twenty minutes later, he was waiting to be let
into Kathryn's quarters. When the doors slid open, Kathryn was fully
dressed. "You were quicker, today."
"I didn't want to tempt you, yet," she teased. As Chakotay walked
in, he caught the scent of lavender.
"You put on lavender anyway." He put one arm around her waist and
placed the other on her cheek. "You shouldn't have. Paris is on to
us." He began kissing a trail from her lips down to the nape of her
neck and shifted her uniform to get to her shoulder.
"Oh, well. They'll have to find out sometime. I expect half the
crew to know by the time we get to the Mess Hall. They will
definitely know if we show up pink-lipped and breathless," Kathryn
said amusedly.
"I'll do my best to resist," he said while reluctantly stepping
back. "Shall we?" Chakotay offered her is arm. She linked her arm
with his and they were on their way.
When they arrived, they were slightly, but pleasantly, surprised to
see that it was relatively empty and quiet. "I guess either Tom
hasn't had a chance to tell anyone, or he's planning something,"
Kathryn whispered to Chakotay as they grabbed trays.
"I think he's up to something," Chakotay replied. "Why don't I want
to know what?"
"I'm with you on that one," she whispered back. Today, Neelix wasn't
in the Mess Hall, which meant no recurring cases of the giggles. As
they sat down Kathryn spotted Tom. "There's our troublemaker," she
nodded in Tom's direction. Chakotay followed her line of vision and
spotted him as well. Just then, Tom turned around and made eye
contact with them and heartily winked. Chakotay laughed and Kathryn
winked back. Tom smiled and turned back to his breakfast.
"Well, now we know he's up to something. Do you want to plot revenge
ahead of time?" Chakotay asked.
"Sounds like fun to me," she replied with a wicked grin. "Got any
ideas?"
"Well, we could replace all of his music selections with Vulcan
poetry. Or, we could replace all of his replicator selections with
leola root recipes. Oh, I just got a perfect one, we rig his
quarters timer ahead a few hours when he's asleep, that way he'll be
up early with nothing to do." Chakotay was on a roll.
"We should definitely exchange his music with Vulcan poetry and set
his clock ahead a few hours, but leola root is downright cruelty.
Let's save that one for if he does something really mean." Kathryn
looked very mischievous as she was trying to come up with something
as equally malicious to do for revenge.
"Time for us to head to the Bridge, I think," Chakotay said since
they had finished their breakfast.
"You're right," she said as she stood and grabbed her dishes as well
as Chakotay's before he could. "Let's go." She deposited the dishes
and they walked to the turbolift. The doors opened to reveal no
one. As they stepped in Kathryn said, "Hmm, an empty turbolift."
She cast a sly, joking look at Chakotay and batted her lashes.
"Well, someone is very flirtatious today," Chakotay said just before
the doors slid open to the Bridge. They walked in as though
everything was the same as it was a week ago.
"Status, Mr. Tuvok," Kathryn said as she and Chakotay walked over to
their command chairs and sat down.
"Same as yesterday, Captain."
"Good." Kathryn settled in and began reviewing starcharts for what
was coming up, according to astrometrics. About a half-hour later,
Chakotay leaned over and cleared his throat. "Mmm?" she responded
while tearing her eyes away from her console.
"Time to go to the Briefing Room." He grinned at how absorbed she
had been in whatever was on console. They stood up, and as they did,
Tom, who came to duty five minutes after they did, turned his head
and grinned at them. Chakotay aimed a mock scowl at him to make
Kathryn laugh, but she bit her tongue. Just as they sat down, Tom
walked in followed by Harry and Tuvok. Less than a minute later,
B'Elanna, Seven, and Neelix came in. Last to join them was the
Doctor.
"Shall we begin?" Affirmative murmurs were her responses. "Okay,
anything new?"
"Food supply is stable and crew morale is up," said Neelix. Luckily,
Chakotay and Kathryn were able to keep a straight face.
"Only injuries since yesterday were a sprained ankle, a broken
finger, and one dislocated shoulder, all holodeck injuries," said the
Doctor.
"Anything else?" Kathryn asked.
"I have discovered that there is to be a scavenger hunt tonight,"
Tuvok stated simply.
"We'll let the crew have their fun," Kathryn responded as
nonchalantly as possible.
"It could interfere with the crew on duty," Tuvok pointed out.
"I'm sure that the organizers of this have prevented that
possibility," she defended. Kathryn really wanted to go to the
scavenger hunt. "This not of any concern as of this moment.
Anything else? At all?"
"It's just been calm lately," B'Elanna explained.
"Okay, dismissed." Kathryn and Chakotay stayed behind. "Paris, I'd
like to have a few words with you," she said before Tom could leave.
"Yes, Captain?" Tom asked as he came back towards Kathryn and
Chakotay. He was trying his best to look blissfully ignorant of
anything that could possibly get him into trouble.
"Would you please tell the organizers of tonight's activities, that
next time I would like to give my go ahead first," Kathryn said with
a faint tinge of humor.
"I'll do my best to send the message along, Captain." Tom knew that
if she really wanted to she could prove that he was behind it.
"Thank you. And thank you for keeping our secret," she said as she
slid her hand across the table surface to grasp Chakotay's.
"I understand perfectly." Which he did, because the early part of
his relationship with B'Elanna.
"Dismissed then." After the doors closed, she looked at Chakotay and
said, "I didn't think Tuvok was going to let it go."
"He knows when you've put your foot down." Chakotay was glad that
she never really put her foot down on the idea of them.
"I am so glad we have tomorrow off," she said as she stood.
"Absolutely," Chakotay agreed as he stood. They walked back to the
Bridge for the rest of their shift.
