The Great Divide Motorcycle Trip

HOME

The Riders and Motorcycles

Four Dallas area residents, three in the 60 year range and my son-in-law in his 30's.  My brand new Kawasaki KLR650, a new Honda 650XR, a Kawasaki KLX300, and MadMax a 80'smodel Yamaha 500 something.  These were all made street legal, both bikes and riders, with tires, racks, brake lights, etc..  A hodge podge of nylon riding jackets, jeans and old riding pants.  We may not look

like much but have years of experience riding off road in Old Mexico, Colorado and New Mexico.
A note about MadMax.  My son-in-law, a couple of years before, had tried to fly the Yamaha from a rocky mountain road near Interbide, Mexico.  The fenders, headlight assembly, and most other removable parts had

been destroyed, along with his tailbone, by the boulders below the road.  To get Ready for this trip he had replaced all these and repainted the old soldier.  Not being much of a mechanic he used no LockTite!  Nary a day passed on this trip without something falling off, thus the name MadMax.
