Proposal

Three weeks have passed since Janeway and Chakotay had found out that they were going to have a baby, while not just any baby a Primordial dwarf. As the doctor had told them the pregnancy was progressing normally although Janeway still was not showing, so the crew was still oblivious to the fact that the command team were going to be parents.

The ship had recently passed by a M. class plaint and got some foodstuffs but were unable to take shore leave, they were also unable to locate a descent supply of die lithium with they need badly. Luckily for the crew long range sensors had picked up another m. class plaint about 5 light years from their position. Janeway order a course change and went to attend to another important issue.

"Neelix are you sure you have every thing set."

"Yes, Captain you have nothing to worry about I followed your list for the party exactly."

"Good because this needs to be perfect for the crews morals sake, still I keep thinking I for got one detail and I just can not put my finger on it."

"If memory serves me right from last year you forgot, hold on." Neelix said and headed to the replicator and punched in some commands. Janeway who was very curious was leaning over the counter to see what Neelix had ordered, when he turned around to revel a small bundle of green leaves with a red ribbon at the top.

"Missal toe," she smiled.

"Tom all ways says that it is not Christmas without missal toe."

"You know he is right."

"See the party will be perfect."

"Thank you Mr. Neelix. Now I must go and tale the crew at the briefing see you latter at 1900 hours." She said making a quick exit so she would not be late to the briefing she called.

In the briefing room the entire crew was seated all ready when the captain walked in.

"Sorry, that I am late but I was discussing tonight's Christmas party with Neelix. I called you here to tell you that the parity will be at 1900 hours in holodeck one under stood; and I expect all of you to be there." She told them in a not so captain like tone but enough to get her point across as she took her seat at the head of the table. "so any thing new to report, Tom how long un tell we reach the plaint."

"We should be in orbit in about 4 days, Captain." Tom reported.

"Thank you Mr. Paris," she said and the briefing continued like that until every one had reported what they needed to. "Thank you every one remember holodeck one at 1900 hours. Dismissed." The crew filtered out of the reefing room and headed for their stations.

At 1830 hours Janeway was dressed in a long sleeve scarlet red dress that came down to her ankle were on here feet she had matching high heeled dress sandals on. Chakotay who was dressed in a navy blue suite was helping here to get a beautiful ruby necklace on.

"You smell wonderful Kathryn."

"Why thank you" she said and turned around to give him a big kiss.

"We better go we really do not want to be late after you more or less ordered the crew to be there."

"You know I hate it when you are right." She said playfully punching him in the stomach.

"Hey watch it"

"O come on we better go" She said heading out the door.
The command team arrived out side of holodeck one at 1945 hours.

"How do I look?" She asked,

"Kathryn you look breath taking."

"All right, shall we."

"Of course" he said taking her arm in his. When they walked in to the holodeck they were greeted by a beautiful cabin set in a snow covered forest setting that had lights strung across the front.

"Wow it certainly is beautiful," she said in awe

"It sure is," he said not looking at the cabin but at her.

"Chakotay, not me the cabin"

"Yea it is pretty,"

"Your Incorrigible."

"Thank you," he smiled just then Kathryn started to shiver. "We should go inside before you freeze to death out here."

"Yea we should" she agreed and started down the stone path leading to the front door.

Once inside Tom and B'Elanna greeted them. "Captain Great party I heard you gave Neelix the specifications for it." Tom said

"Yea I wanted to avoid another fiasco like last year, and so far I think it has worked," she openly joked.

Neelix came over "Captain Commander how are you Can I offer you some wine."

"Sure Neelix" The Commander said reaching for a glass

"Captain" Neelix insisted

"No thanks Mr. Neelix" Kathryn said.

"All right Captain, See you latter on then."

"Of coarse Neelix."

"No wine that is a little strange captain if I remember at every other party we have had you had wine. Are you not telling us smoothing?" Tom smirked and B'Elanna elbowed him in the ribs "What was that fore."

"Maybe she just dose not feel like having Wine right now."

"Ok sorry about inquiring that."

"It is quite all right Tom." Kathryn cut him off

"Thanks, and if you will excuse us B'Elanna and I will go mingle over here for a wile." Tom said ushering B'Elanna toward Harry and seven. The evening went well after several carols and a feast it was time to open presents. Chakotay played Santa and passed out the presents. After some time and a big pile of wrapping paper every one had opened a present from some one else except the captain who had yet to receive a gift from Chakotay.

"Well that looks like that is all the presents under the tree." He said now the captain was feeling really bad. "Wait it looks like I forgot one" he said picking up a small black box, "It looks like it is addressed to the captain from me." Kathryn was now starting to get nerves as Chakotay started to walk toward her. He stopped right in front of her. He then proceeded to get down on knee and opened the box to revel a small gold band. "Kathryn" he started "Ever since I first saw you on my view screen fore years ago I have loved you. I will al ways love you tell the end and I want you to be my wife." He picked up the small ring and placed it on her left ring finger and waited for her reply.

"Yes" Kathryn said with tears in her eyes "Yes I would love to." She embraced him in a big hug and gave him a kiss in front of the tree and right under the same missal toe Neelix had replicated earlier. The Crew rang out in a loud Cheer at the sight of their command team. Kathryn then stopped and faced the crew.

"Every one there is smoothing else I would like to say. The commander." She looked at him then back at the crew, "The commander and I are going to have a baby." They waited as the crew cheered some more then B'Elanna Came and gave her a big hug and said congratulations to both the captain and the commander. The rest of the night was full of congratulations and good wishes, but the command team new that they still had a very long road a head.
