Helen, the Author...

Welcome to my writing page! If you ask me what I would want to do for the rest of my life, I would reply, "I wanna write". Of course, that doesn't mean I'm any good at it!! So, to prove myself, I'll just mention that I have won 2 awards, and had a poem published in an anthology. I also write Star Trek fanfiction.

I write...
to control the things I cannot.
to experience the things I have not.
to share the things I dare not...

Now, don't die of shock, but this is a finished novel!!

Enjoy!

So, how do I come up with ideas for my stories and novels?
The most common way is from a dream. They are usually more vivid, or more fascinating in some way, and so I end up thinking about them all of the following day.
Sometimes I ideas from just watching television, or in the middle of talking to someone, or...ya know, just doing everyday things like blowdrying my hair. LOL
A rarer instance is when I read a book, or watch a movie or something and start wondering how I would have had it go differently.

Is it done?

Susan, Tessa, Tony, and Lucia
Rated: PG; I wrote this story during my Junior year of high school, in a Creative Writing class. I don't remember the exact assignment, but I think it was something to do with having a surprise ending. I have many more stories from that class, some I'd love to get up here someday.
Yes
My Thursday Afternoon at Rite Aid
Rated: G; Ever get so bored at work that your mind starts to wander, and it just doesn't want to come back? Well, this is what happened when I let it once, several years ago. It's a prime candidate for some pictures (cartoons). Hmm...
No
Only the Good...
Rated: G/PG; This was one of those stories that just popped into my head, apparently out of nowhere. This one comes with a Tissue Warning! It mayb be short, but it packs a wallop!
Yes
Helen's Heart

The Re-Opening of Helen's Heart
Both rated: G; I went through some hard times between April-July 2007. These stories represent the damage and then the healing.
Yes
Winter Wonderland

Rated: PG (2 swears); I was listening to one of my favorite Christmas-time songs. Like I try to do every so often, I really listened to the lyrics and allowed myself to be pulled into the imagery.
Yes
The Yellow Wedding Dress
Heartbreaking, but based in reality...
Yes

The Cracking Whip
Zorro; Rated: PG-13; I had a series of dreams that inspired this loooong short story. I decided it needed to be written, and I started, but alas, have yet to finish it. I've not ever gotten to the real meat of it. But you can go there to read a chunk that I do have so far.

As for the rest of these, none of them are finished. But if I have a piece online, the title will be click-able!

Working Title

Rating & Summary

The Cruise
Rated: PG; This story has to be overhauled so badly, I've been avoiding it for 5 years...and it's not even DONE! It started out as a simple love story with a mystery, but then I decided to turn it into the "Fat girl gets the hot guy" story Carmen has always wanted.
Jack Frost
Rated: PG-13; This story is by far one of the most serious ones I've attempted. Alcena Reynolds is a heiress whose life is disrupted in a violent incident. And that's just in Chapter One! The rest of the book is going to show how she deals with the incident, and the results of it.
Eileen
Rated: PG; Okay, I'll admit that this one is pushing the limits of "suspension of disbelief". But, just for fun, let's say that a Scottish king, executed after a short reign, is brought to life once more thanks to handy-dandy cloning. But, since they couldn't bring back his wife, they want him to find a queen. Oh, and did I mention that he was a very religious man, and the whole cloning thing complicates his faith?
