Most of the my friends already know this, but I opted not to go with PublishAmerica. There were many factors involved and it just wasn't going to be a good thing. I've been through so much since I last posted news--and I've not really tried any other companies. I'll have to get on that again. |

HOLY CRAP..."Dear Ms. Lake: I am happy to inform you that PublishAmerica has decided to give your book the chance it deserves. We are offering to publish "Struck Twice"." I...I'm gonna be published! Okay, well actually, I have to pick through the contract, sign it, and then within 365 days, they will publish it. But STILL!!! |

I did it...It's 1:25 am. I just hit the SEND button, submitting my novel to PublishAmerica. I'm actually SHAKING. Tomorrow, I send them a copy of my copyright paperwork. They say it takes anywhere from weeks to months to hear from any one of their departments, depending on how busy they are. I'm hoping, with it being the holiday season, it won't too horribly busy. I'll just have to put this out of my mind and not worry... |

Oh my gosh! Oh my gosh...I hold in my hand the copyright to my novel. It's surreal. I can't believe it's here... Of course, that just means I REALLY, REALLY need to get it submitted... |

March 25, 2005
I just randomly checked my bank account. The check I wrote to get my novel published cleared the bank on March 11, 2005. That means it was copyrighted for sure and I should get a certificate in the mail in the next few months!!! Because of health issues (Curse you weather!!!), I have not been up to writing the synopsis Publish America wants. Soon, my pretties...soon. |

I did it. I'm still a bit stunned. I went to the Post Office and I mailed my manuscript, copyright form (all filled out), and the check for the fees. It's become scary and real somehow. As I said before, now that the manuscript is mailed, I had to take the story offline. Not only are the links removed, the files are too. Please don't try to find them. If you have any questions, sign the feedback, or the guestbook and I'll answer it in the FAQ page. In the end, I didn't change the title to Part One. There were enough changes made, and besides, not everyone really reads those titles...I hope. |

Unfortunately, my dear friends, once I actually mail my novel out to be copyrighted, I have to take it off of the Internet. It's the law, and I'm not taking any chances. |

I am about to start printing up my novel. But first, I will do a final spell-check and decide if I want to change anything else. For example, I don't especially like the title of Part One-"Banding Together". It was supposed to be a play on words, but it doesn't quite work. Hmmm... When I'm finished printing, there is another delay for getting it sent out. There's a $30 fee to pay for my copyright. At this point in time, I need that money for Christmas presents. I swear I will get it sent immediately after Christmas. I have a payday on Christmas Eve, so the next week, whatever my day off is--I will go to the Post Office. To answer my questions about publishing before or after getting copyrighted, I found the following: You do not have to receive your certificate before you publish or produce your work, nor do you need permission from the Copyright Office to place a notice of copyright on your material.Which I found HERE. I suppose that means I can go ahead and send it to Publish America before I hear back from the Library of Congress. WOO! |

I am done with my polishing. I can't hardly believe it!! Now I have to email PublishAmerica and ask them about the copyrighting. Seems Christina didn't get copyrighted until AFTER she'd already been published. But this may be because her book was a collection of stories. Since mine is a fictional novel, it may have to be copyrighted first--which was the original plan anyway. |

I have redone the entire series of pages for the novel. I also added many pages: FAQ's, Thanks & Dedications, and an Art page. |

September-October 2004
I've been polishing like MAAAAD!!! I took a list of all the changes and critiqes given to me by all my readers and then set about seeing what I agreed with, and how I might be able to accommodate them. |
