Pictures not in the report

I apologize in advance for the poor quality of some of the pictures.
Rest assureed, I shall NEVER use that particular setting on my
camera again...and these are the best of the lot.

11/27/05
I went to bed by 3 am and had a fitful night’s sleep. Housekeepers started working on all the rooms around me at 8 am. I pretty much only snoozed until my alarm went off at 10 am. Then I got up and took a shower, hoping my headache would wane. The shampoo, conditioner and lotion provided by the hotel was very nice, so I used it instead of my stuff I’d brought. By the time I was dressed and packed, my head felt a little better. But my eyes hurt. I went to the desk and checked out, which was only a matter of giving them my room key card (I’d prepaid). Then I went to the restaurant to eat something. By then, my headache was back, with a vengeance. By the way, there isn’t much that sucks more than having to eat alone, listening to people giggling and sharing stories at a distance…especially when they put you in the corner, away from everyone else.

When I was finished eating, I went off to explore the Dealer’s Room once more. I went by the tables I’d skipped before, buying another grab bag. Well, it was a grab-box, actually! LOL I got some neat collectable cards (which is funny, since I don’t really collect those, and yet I have TONS). I also bought a toy replica of the Original Series phaser, with removable hand-phaser. Then, I found it. I’ve been looking for a particular shirt for years, but every time I’ve seen it, it’s only been in sizes too small for me. This time, I walked up, saw the shirt and lifted the top one slightly...the VERY next one was my size. I made some strange strangled noise and the couple behind the table laughed and asked, "Oh, did you want that?" HECK YEAH! LOL

I went on to the autograph room to get James’ DVD and autograph. I told him I really enjoyed his singing and he was nice enough to sign the DVD itself, and the cover liner. Hehe I also made a point of looking for Max, in order to get that CD. But he wasn’t there!!! Aron was, so I asked him about his missing friend, and he said he was probably still in bed!! LOL I tsk’ed that and chatted with him for a few minutes. He thanked me for behaving the night before! LMAO

I moved over and stood in front of David Reddick’s table. He was getting his picture taken with some girls, and chatting with them, so I just examined the price lists and tried to figure out what I could afford. I really went nuts at this convention, people. LOL Finally, I decided I could afford one of each of his three stickers. The assistant at the table, got those out for me, and set them to the side for David to sign one. Just then, he turned and saw me. "Yes, hello! What can I do for ya?" I indicated the stickers and told him that I enjoyed his comics and I’d been reading them since the beginning. And, that I love anything that’s a parody. Oh, Helen, the smooth segue...I casually mentioned that I do a rough sketch parody of Trek myself, called Stick Trek. He grabbed a piece of paper and wrote down the address, and my name, and said he’d be checking it out. *gulp* LOL

As we stood there, chatting, I mentioned that Garfield is also one of my favorite comics and so this was a double thrill for me. He seemed genuinely glad, and got this intense sneaky look on his face. He looked around and said, "Okay, since this is my first convention, and it's the last day....and you're so nice...pick one of these and I'll sign it at no extra fee..." And he pointed at the large 8 1/2 X 11 size comics!!! He said he really liked the one of all of the characters, but that he’d done another one just for the convention (which was also a poster hanging above his table area). I chose that one, explaining to him that it fit, since that’s where I met him anyway. Then I got a picture with him too! Hehe

Now it was time to get my seat for Vaughn Armstrong again. I came in a few minutes early, grabbing a seat a little better than I’d had the day before. Vaughn was talking about how he overcame Obsessive Compulsive Disorder. He got emotional as he spoke of the battles, drawing some tears from the audience in his passion. He was able to pour that energy, the wasted energy of repeating motions, into his acting. Amazing! He also told some great stories, including a war story. I found him to be wonderfully interesting and amusing. Then he broke out that ukulele and his "harmonica" stand again. Hehehe

After Vaughn, David came out to speak. He took some questions, and explained a bit about his comic, The Trek Life. I gotta say that he is incredibly cute, and totally my sister Carmen’s type. LOL Alas, he’s married. Ah, aren’t they all.

Deborah and James came out to take questions and sing a bit after that. James told the most adorable story of how he met his wife. VERY romantic, as was the way he stared at her as he spoke. *grin* Deborah does artwork, including portraits. She expressed a wish in doing one of Leonard Nimoy, and I promptly began drooling. Hehe Among the songs, they sang "You Don’t Bring me Flowers", again, and then James sang "True Companion" (he stared at his wife the whole time again!!!!), and Deborah sang an Aretha Franklin song. What a musical weekend, I’m telling ya!! LOL

The Ferengi Family came out again after that. For a while there, it was just Aron and Lolita. Aron was in high-form when it came to biting wit (he was in a moooood all weekend, but very friendly to the fans). Lolita wore a hat and seemed like she was ready to fall asleep. Chase and Max showed up shortly, and they all talked about the insane parties and contests held the night before. It seems that there was a wet-shirt contest of men, and they’d been saying that Chase was going to be a judge in it. Of course, SHE didn’t know about it!! LOL

One of my favorite stories was that when the women went to Scotland, they were greeted by a 21-bum salute (men in kilts) When they returned for another event, they were presented with pictures, AUTOGRAPHED by those very men!! LOL They insisted it wasn’t a very pretty sight, but it makes for a great story!

Max sang again, and Chase escorted the "harmonica stand" kid out while he did it. It wasn’t a very kid-friendly song. LOL And it only convinced me that I needed to get the CD from him! I was in a great seat for shots of Max, but I couldn’t hardly see Aron and Chase this time. Chase mentioned the movie on the Sci-Fi Channel she had just done with Robert Beltran. It was shown the night before (I taped it at home!!), so she was sure to tell us that it would be repeated a few times. Hehe

They also spoke about the Katrina relief charity Trekkies had donated to. We raised a great amount, and they thanked us. They also talked about how Trekkies had banded together when Enterprise was being cancelled—they raised over 3 million dollars, trying to convince Paramount not to follow through. Unfortunately, a lot of things have changed since the 1960’s and no one was willing to change anything. But hey, we tried.

Before I knew it, it was over. My head was killing me, and was swinging into full-Migraine territory. Numbly, I went to the autograph room to get the famous Max CD. He was there this time, and I took one last look around, seeing if there was anything else I needed/wanted. By that point, I just wanted to curl up in a ball. Things are a little fuzzy in my memory…I went to Max and requested the CD. He was very gracious as he found one with nice handwriting on the CD. Then he dug a liner out and started to fold it…but it wasn’t straight, so he got another one and re-did it!!! And THEN he autographed it! LOL I would have been giggling at how he wanted it just perfect for me, but I instead just smirked at him. Once he had it all set, and handed it over, he asked me for my email address, so that he could email me the MP3 of the rap song he’d performed at the luau. WOO!

Prologue

It was a little before 4 pm at that point, and I checked the schedule to see if there was anything else I had wanted to see/do. There wasn’t, and I was in desperate need of medication, so I took one last picture on my way, and left the hotel. I ran to the closest gas station and bought a drink, snack, and medicine. I loaded up on all of the above and got on the road. I put Max’s CD in and tried to enjoy it…By the time I got home, my migraine was gone, and I was laughing along to the CD (on the 3rd time through! Hehe)

This was a wonderful convention for me. Despite having to go by myself, I was able to enjoy the trip, the stars, and the events. I look forward to next year! And this time, I mean it.
