Star Trek: The First Artifact

During the first year of it's mission, the Earth vessel Enterprise, NX-01, discovered that Beta Aurigae VII was the home world of the Zalkat Union. The Zalkatian artifacts found on the planet included a box that once belonged to Malkus the Mighty. Inside the box, the crew found a record written after Malkus was overthrown and information on the four devices he had used to rule the union for a thousand years.

The first artifact was found in 2266...

A plague has broken out on the class-M world of Alpha Proxima II, and both the Constellation and the Enterprise answer the distress call about the medical emergency. While en route to the planet, the Constellation's computer alerts the crew that a reading from the planet has triggered General Order Sixteen, that they could be facing a deadly weapon, and the two crews are now obligated to locate and confiscate a Malkus artifact.

As martial law is declared by Commodore Matt Decker and Captain James Kirk, their science officers search for the artifact. Even as the crew of the Enterprise become infected by the plague, Doctors Lewis Rosenhaus and Leonard McCoy use their own methods in their search for a cure...
