The Talarians are a militaristic, patriarchal society. They have long traditions of warfare, and these are echoed in their
modern traditions customs and ideas, which are typically rigid and inflexible. They do not have the history of conquest
that marks other militaristic societies, but their territory is well-defended.
The Talarians are considered a proud warrior race, but have had to deal with a several military confrontations with
Federation forces due to their territory neighbouring a number of Federation sectors. This commonly tense situation
was symbolised by the Galen Border Conflicts, which was a series of clashes over the control of the Galen star
system during the mid twenty fourth century. Being highly centered around a Patriarchal social doctrine the
significantly ritualistic Talarian society encourages a strict traditional cultural system. Talarian warships are known to
employ less developed weaponry than the Federation, utilizing neutral particle beam weaponry and Merculite rockets.
