Calvin was born in Antarctica. His parents were doctors living in the city of Southern Point. His mother was very wrapped up in her work, treating the people of the city, and rarely had time for her son. His father was also busy, but he always made time for Calvin.

When Calvin turned 6, his father took him to a gymnasium facility and put a tennis racket in his hands for the first time. It was as if it were fate. Calvin took to tennis in an amazing way. He took lessons after school and when he was good enough, he competed on a local circuit. His father always attended his games, unless an emergency kept him away. His mother never made it to a single one.

When he was 12, Calvin was "discovered" by a scout from the Federation Athletic Academy. He was given a scholarship to the school where he learned how to compete in the serious leagues. At age 16, Calvin began traveling the galactic tennis circuit. He was truly a phenomenon and won many of the cups. However, the constant use of his arm took its toll and by the time he was 27, he had had four surgeries on his shoulder. His game suffered and he realized that it was time for him to give up the profession.

He took a year off to spend with his parents and decide what to do with his life. His mother wanted him to be a doctor, but his father realized that this was not what Calvin wanted. He encouraged him to go to Starfleet Academy and find out what he wanted to be. Calvin agreed and in his second year at the Academy decided on Security.

However, after time on a starship, Calvin learned that he loved the minutae of operations and transferred to the OPS department. Showing excellence, he has been climbing the ladder and being promoted quickly.
