Hawaii Trip Reports
Fungirl and I got married in July of 2004. We had the ceremony and reception at Anchor Village, a historic property near Clarion, PA.
We traveled to Hawaii for our honeymoon. We spent our first week on the island of Kauai . For the first couple of days we behaved like tourists, as we kayaked the Wailua River, drove to Hanalei, and relaxed on the beach. We spent our last 5 days on Kauai backpacking The Na Pali Coast to Kalalau Beach. This was one of the toughest hikes we've ever done, but it was worth it. Kalalau is a place we'll never forget.
We spent the final two weeks on Hawaii's Big Island. For the first few days, we stayed at a resort on the Kona Coast and spent our time scuba diving and relaxing. Then we relocated to the northeast corner of the island, where we did a 3-day backpacking trip to remote Waimanu Beach. We concluded the trip with a visit to Volcanoes National Park. We toured the active volcano of Kilauea, and even did a hike in the dark in search of flowing lava.
