This is a pictograph located at the mouth of South Temple Wash. Temple wash runs west to east right past Temple mountain on eastward where it joins Cottonwood wash then dumps into the San Rafael River 25 miles north of Hanksville. It was found by Herb, while searching for the Temple Mountain graves, just out side of Gobblin Valley.

This is the only pictograph I have ever seen with a "medicine man" holding a snake. The "medicine man's" hand is pointing westward in the direction of the alleged Ute/Spanish massacre. About a mile or two to the east or to the right of the picture, is the only good water for many miles in any direction, called Lost Spring.

(Excerpt from "Treasure Hunters University")
"Of the Indians, the only persons to know of caches were the Chief Medicine Man and the Chief’s most trusted braves. The Chief was responsible for handing down the exact location to his successor. The Medicine Man, the spiritual leader, either made the site a shrine or the area taboo for the rest of the tribe. (They did not trust all the members of the tribe with this knowledge, any more than we trust all the members of our families.)"

Other pictographs are found off of I-70 at Green River Utah get onto State Road 24, then left at Lower San Rafael Road. Then take Rd. 1010 to RD. 777.
