The Writings in Cedar City Utah

Dr. Ainsworth states that this panel is a map to the location of his father, "Mormon's", grave in Cedar Breaks, UT. He also believes that Moroni buried gold plates and other gold objects in his tomb. This would go along with the their traditions at that time as they usually placed their most precious belongings in the graves with them. It would also be very tough to carry that person's load of items after they had past on.

This panel is believed to be a map

The glyphs above were left some 800 years ago. Most of these glyphs depict the surroundings in that area. However, others have a more spiritual side to them. The long U shaped glyph represents the sun on it's path through their calendar year. Each notch is one day. Some of the symbols could be their tribes signature as numerous symbols are repeated through out the hillside. The sombrero like glyph on its side may mean "The mid-portal to Heaven". Thus the assumption that these ancient travelers, had very deep religious beliefs. The bar shaped glyphs seem to represent a journey of some sort. Each dot would signify their position at different times along the trek. Even though these were left by the Ansazi Indians, probably not the Aztecs, it shows that this area was used as a northern route for many groups, most likely coming from Mexico, which is where most of the Southwestern Indians originate from. NOTE: Most of the Indians that lived here were not wealthy. In fact the Navajo Indians lived off of corn and also used it for trade. This would suggest that all of the jade and gold objects that are found by archeologists in the southwestern region, had to have been traded to them from people that came from the south, where these resources are abundant.
