However luck seem to be more in demand right now.=^= Ingoldo: :: No repons :: =^=Captain?=^= (#%&# communication.) :: Ingoldo looks at the instruments and it is bad. :: Stanford: "It will be close, I am not sure we will reach him in time, Sir." McCloud: "I want to try the tractor beam, we might catch him in time." Tolbin: "We must be close for it to function. If he reaches the atmosphere it may disrupt the beam." :: As Excalibur speed towards the shuttle Ingoldo begins to prepare for a possible emergency landing. :: Ingoldo: "Computer status of the shuttle." Computer: "Warp engine off-line, impuls engines..." :: The voice ends abruptly :: Ingoldo: "Computer?" :: He looks at the consol, rechecks the readings as well as it is possible. He takes over manual-control, the thrusters work partly. Shields are on reserve, they will drain fast in the atmosphere by the friction. :: Ingoldo: :: Taps the commbadge :: "Personal log. I am in deep trouble. Soon I will enter the atmosphere of Memory Alpha with shields on reserve I am not sure that they will last long enough in the friction. End log." :: He corrects the flightpath to the correct angle so he can enter the atmosphere. To much he will loose control and burn for a few seconds. To little he will bounce of and with so little energy structural integrity field the craft will be destroyed. :: McCloud: "Tractor beam!" :: Looks at Redroi. :: Redroi: "He is entering the upper atmosphere. I do not know if we will be able to hold on." McCloud: "Give it your best shoot Ensign." :: As the tractor beam hook on the shuttle it is to weak to stop the momentum of it. Redroi can not use full strenght as it would tear the shuttle apart and the atmosphere disrupts it. However it can affect its flight path and it does this. :: :: As Ingoldo begin to enter the atmosphere he feels the effect of it. The flightpath is disrupted and he must make emergency course- corrections. :: Ingoldo: (Must be Excalibur.) :: He concentrates and sends a thought to Redroi. :: (Thank you for trying my friend.) Redroi: "Captain, Ensign Ingoldo just thanked me for trying to catch him." McCloud: :: Looks at Redroi and then at the screen :: "Disengage the tractor beam. We can not hold him with it." (Good luck Ensign.) Tolbin: "We cannot follow him into the atmosphere." McCloud: "I know Number One. Take us into a standard orbit Ensign Stanford." :: The shuttle lights up as meteor as the atmosphere hits the shield in the lower atmosphere. :: Ingoldo: "Personal log. It will be hard to reach the surface. My shields are draining to fast, I will begin braking with the thrusters but I have only partial control of them. Temperature in the cabin is rising, it reminds me of the Vulcan summer. My shields will not hold all the way..." :: The shuttle breaks through the lower clouds and a mountain range straight ahead :: :: Ingoldos shields fail and the hull begin to heat up. :: :: He hits tree-tops in a valley. The shuttle plows down trees and hits the ground - hard. :: :: Silence :: :: Pain :: Ingoldo: "Ouch!" :: Electric fire in the cabin :: (I have to get out of here.) :: He drags himself out through the broken door and runs from the burning wreck. :: :: As he reach a safe distance and behind some large rocks the shuttle explode. :: Ingoldo: :: He begins to feel his body after the initial shock. :: (My arm must be broken...possible some ribs.) :: He groans and pass out from the pain. :: Off: Help :-) Ensign Ingoldo Chief Science officer USS Excalibur NCC-2997
