Ensign Darrin Sullivan was born on January 2, 2136 in Boston, Massachusetts, Earth. He is was the only son of Michael and Riana Sullvian. Michael was the curator of a museum in Massachusetts. Riana was a painter, and also an El-Aurian. Riana, over six hundred years old when her son was born, kept her heritage a secret. Darrin traveled often as a child, and developed a love for exploration and knowledge.
Darrin graduated from Zephram Cochrane High School in 2154, and went on to the Copernicus Institute and earned his degree in Psychology in 2159. In 2161, the United Federation of Planets was founded. Darrin attended the ceremony in San Francisco.
Soon after, Darrin went to work for the Federation Embassy on Earth. He and nine other s were honored by the Federation President in 2165 for composing the piece that would become the Federation Anthem. Michael Sullivan passed away in 2167, and Riana in 2170. Shortly before her death, she revealed hers and Darrin's El-Aurian ancestry. Darrin joined Starfleet in 2172, but the details of his race were left supressed.
Darrin graduated from the Academy in 2176, with Honors in Stellar Cartography and Xenobiology. He was ranked number three out of two hundred eighty cadets graduating that year.
The details of Darrin's life between 2177 and 2360 are somewhat a mystery. It is assumed that he served in Starfleet for most of that time, but there are no records of any such service.
2360, Ensign Sullivan put his psychology training to good use when he was assigned as the chief Counselor at the rehabilitation facility for Cardassian War Veterans. He was honored by the Federation President again for his work.
In the early 2360s, Darrin served aboard the USS Al-Batani. While there, he became friends with Senior Science Officer Kathryn Janeway. In 2368, Darrin was transferred to Starbase 903 and was a member of the First Contact team with the Holtun Order.
In 2371 Darrin's friend, now Captain Janeway of the USS Voyager NCC-74656, offered him a position on her ship. He reluctantly turned her down in favor of a chance to return to Starfleet Academy.
Darrin graduated from the Academy again in 2375 with a medical degree. He immediately began working on the Pathfinder Project, and was present in 2377, when Voyager returned home.
