My weekend was exciting as I had my first taste of triathlon bliss early Sunday morning. The event began with a 300-m swim, which went as well as expected. Since I only introduced myself to the pool at the end of January, I consider completion of this component victory in itself. This was followed by a 10-mi bike sprint. Dixie and I flew like the wind!! Like the headwind that I couldn't shake no matter which corner I turned!! But thankfully, the other competitors must not be cyclists.... at all.... I gained serious ground on the cycling. A handful of riders received penalties for drafting. Little Bo avoided that pitfall. Probably because everybody was riding so slowly. The grand event was concluded with a 3-mi run, which went very smoothly. Afterwards I felt great and motivated to do it again.
My goals were simple: To complete the event and not to be last. I accomplished those two things. Today I checked the rankings, and out of 59 in my division, I placed 22. Not bad for my first time. The next one is for real. (Sept)
