For the past 14 years the people of Somaliland were building this viable State, with no donar aid or access to international finance. During these long and hard period of peace and democracy building, our people passed through unexpected difficulties, disappointments, ups and downs and even disasters e.g. civil-war but we easily resolved all the problems and difference through peace, consensus and compromise. The result is that Somaliland surpassed the model of western democracy and proved a model of our own which our people are living in dignity, peace, harmony and justice in which this divided house of parliament were elected in free, open and fair election.
By all our great efforts, by all our sacrifices, and by all the anguish and strain through which our people passed, our people were expecting to see the reward and outcome of their glorious achievements not a divided parliament.
what the new parliament did in their first day of their meeting was a slap in the face of the Somaliland people who elected them. The new parliament have taken a course of action without regard to how the consequences will affect Somaliland state at a time when the International Community is re-thinking Somaliland to recognize.
Your division made our enemy very, very happy while all Somalilanders in diaspora and their real friends are extremely disappointed. Bad behaviour is immoral and unacceptable within the Parliament. There must be an effective parliamentarian code of conduct and Ethics.
The best way to serve the national interest is to bring the two sides of the Parliamentarian together to enable them to do things together and build something of lasting value. Everyone must respect the law and the law must be above everyone.
I think it is the duty of every Somaliland parliamentarian in the present conditions to do all in his/her power to help in the restoration of the unity of the parliament and in no way to oppose the policy of compromise and Unity because United the parliament stands, and divided it falls apart.
