Hadith of the week

The Process of Choosing the Leader (Caliph) of the Muslims

Hadith of the week (Rubbing hands and feet with dust (Tayammum)

Volume 1, Book 7, Number 330:

Narrated 'Aisha:

(the wife of the Prophet) We set out with Allahs Apostle on one of his journeys till we reached Al-Baida' or Dhatul-Jaish, a necklace of mine was broken (and lost). Allah's Apostle stayed there to search for it, and so did the people along with him. There was no water at that place, so the people went to Abu- Bakr As-Siddiq and said, "Don't you see what 'Aisha has done? She has made Allah's Apostle and the people stay where there is no water and they have no water with them." Abu Bakr came while Allah's Apostle was sleeping with his head on my thigh, He said, to me: "You have detained Allah's Apostle and the people where there is no water and they have no water with them.

So he admonished me and said what Allah wished him to say and hit me on my flank with his hand. Nothing prevented me from moving (because of pain) but the position of Allah's Apostle on my thigh. Allah's Apostle got up when dawn broke and there was no water. So Allah revealed the Divine Verses of Tayammum. So they all performed Tayammum. Usaid bin Hudair said, "O the family of Abu Bakr! This is not the first blessing of yours." Then the camel on which I was riding was caused to move from its place and the necklace was found beneath it.

Volume 1, Book 7, Number 331:

Narrated Jabir bin 'Abdullah:

The Prophet said, "I have been given five things which were not given to any one else before me.

1. Allah made me victorious by awe, (by His frightening my enemies) for a distance of one month's journey.

2. The earth has been made for me (and for my followers) a place for praying and a thing to perform Tayammum, therefore anyone of my followers can pray wherever the time of a prayer is due.

3. The booty has been made Halal (lawful) for me yet it was not lawful for anyone else before me.

4. I have been given the right of intercession (on the Day of Resurrection).

5. Every Prophet used to be sent to his nation only but I have been sent to all mankind.

Volume 1, Book 7, Number 332:

Narrated 'Urwa's father:

Aisha said, "I borrowed a necklace from Asma' and it was lost. So Allah's Apostle sent a man to search for it and he found it. Then the time of the prayer became due and there was no water. They prayed (without ablution) and informed Allah's Apostle about it, so the verse of Tayammum was revealed." Usaid bin Hudair said to 'Aisha, "May Allah reward you. By Allah, whenever anything happened which you did not like, Allah brought good for you and for the Muslims in that."

Al-Jurf and the time for the 'Asr prayer became due while he was at Marbad-AnNa'am (sheep-fold), so he (performed Tayammum) and prayed there and then entered Medina when the sun was still high but he did not repeat that prayer.

Hadith of the week (The disbeliever asks to be ransomed with whatever is in the earth)

Anas Ibn Malik, may Allah br satisfied with him, narrated that the Prophet (PBUH) said, “Almight allah will say to the person who will receive the slightest punishment in Hell-fire on the Day of Resurection, ‘If you had whatever is in the earth, would you ransom yourself with it?’  He will say, ‘Yes.’  Then He will say, ‘I asked you for (things) lesser than this when you were still in Adam’s loins; that is to associate nothing with me, but you insisted on associating others with Me.’”

Mahmud Ibn Labid, may Allah be satisfied with him, narrated that the Messenger of Allah (PBUH) said, “The thing of which I fear most that it should afflict you is minor polytheism.’  They (the listeners) said, ‘What is minor polytheism, O Messenger of Allah?’  He said, ‘Ostentation.’  Allah the Exalted in Might and the Ever-Majestic, will say to those (who adopt such a form of polytheism) on the Day of Resurrection, when He will be rewarding people for their deeds, ‘Go to those to whom you used to show yourselves and look if they have any reward (for you) ’”      (Ahmad)

Hadith of the week (The virtue of Fasting)

Hadith of the week

Allah says, “…whether you disclose what is in your ownselves or conceal it, Allah will call you to account…”

Ibn Abbas may Allah be satisfied with him, narrated,  “When (Allah) revealed ‘…whether you disclose what is in your ownselves or conceal it, Allah will call you to account for it…” they (the Muslims) felt something concerning it as never happened concerning any (other) thing.  Thereupon, the Prophet (PBUH) said, ‘Say, ‘We have hear, and we obey and submit (to Allah’s will)’.’  Then Allah cast faith into their hearts and revealed, ‘Allah burdens not a person beyond his scope.  He gets reward for that (good) which he has earned, and he is punished for that (evil) which he has earned.  ‘Our Lord! Punish us not if we forget or fall into error…’ Our Lord! Lay not on us a burden like that which You did lay on those before us (Jews and Christians)…’ He said, ‘I will not.’  ‘…  Our Lord! Put not on us a burden greater than we not.’  ‘…  Pardon us and grant us Forgiveness.  Have mercy on us.  You are our Mawla (Patron, Supporter and Protector, etc.)  …’  He said, ‘I will.”’  (Muslim)

Hadith of the week (Recording good and bad deeds)

Abu Hurayrah, may Allah be satisfied with him, narrated that the Messenger of Allah (PBUH) said,

“Allah, the Exalted in Might and the Ever-Majestic, said, “if My servant thinks of doing (i.e., intends to do) a good deed and does not do it, I record it for him as a good deed unless he does it; and if he does it, I record it for him ten times the like thereof.  And if he thinks of doing (i.e., intends to do) a bad deed and does not do it, I forgive it for him unless he does it; and if he does it I record it as one bad deed.”

The Messenger of Allah (PBUH) said  “The angels (would) say,  “O Lord, this servant of yours wants to do a bad deed,” while He knows best about him.  He (would) say, “Watch him.  If he does it, then record it as the like of it; and if he refrains from it, then record it as one good deed.  Indeed! He will have reframed from it for fearing me.”   (Muslim)

Hadith of the week (Forgiveness)

O son of Adam, so long as you call upon Me and ask of Me, I shall forgive you for what you have done, and I shall not mind. O son of Adam, were your sins to reach the clouds of the sky and were you then to ask forgiveness of Me, I would forgive you. O son of Adam, were you to come to Me with sins nearly as great as the earth and were you then to face Me, ascribing no partner to Me, I would bring you forgiveness nearly as great as it.

Hadith of the week (servant)

God kindles the fire of love in the hearts of the chosen, so that their carnal selves are consumed. Once ignited the fire of longing never dies. That is the flame about which the Prophet said, "When God wills the good of his servant, He kindles a light of faith in his heart."

When they asked him what were the signs of that fire, he replied, "Deviation from the abode of vanity; progression toward the Eternal."

(Lost Items)
Sahih Bukhari

Volume 3, Book 42, Number 615:

Narrated Zaid bin Khalid Al-Juhani (radiallaho unho):

A man asked Allah's Apostle (salallaho alaihi wasallam) about the Luqata (Lost
Item). He said, "Make public announcement of it for one year, then remember the
description of its container and the string it is tied with, utilize the money,
and if its owner comes back after that, give it to him." The people asked, "O
Allah's Apostle! What about a lost sheep?" Allah's Apostle said, "Take it, for
it is for you, for your brother, or for the wolf." The man asked, "O Allah's
Apostle! What about a lost camel?" Allah's Apostle got angry and his cheeks or
face became red, and said, "You have no concern with it as it has its feet, and
its water-container, till its owner finds it."

Re:Marriage

Sahih Bukhari Volume 7, Book 62, Number 4:

Narrated 'Abdullah (radiallaho unho): We were with the Prophet (salallaho alaihi wasallam) while we were young and had no wealth whatever. So Allah's Apostle (salallaho alaihi wasallam) said, "O young people! Whoever among you can marry, should marry, because it helps him lower his gaze and guard his modesty (i.e. his private parts from committing illegal sexual intercourse etc.), and whoever is not able to marry, should fast, as fasting diminishes his sexual power."
