Do you remember how we stood
That evening long ago,
And watched the sun sink out of sight
To leave the sky a glow?
And how you turned your face to me
And tucked your hand in mine,
And said that you would always be
My Faithful Valentine.
Tonight the grandchildren bring us hearts,
Homemade--as children can,
They cannot know that we are back
To where our lives began.
When I adoring gave to you
A lace-edged Valentine,
And you, as now, reached out your hand
And tuched it into mine.
