Initials carved upon a tree..
What memories they recall,
For once love came a-courting me,
So handsome, straight and tall.

Hand in hand we strolle,
and I
Blushed to hear his whisper,
"True,
Cross my heart and hope to die,
Always , dearest, I'll Love You."

Then he carved upon "Our tree"
A heart for all the world to see...
With his initials pledged to mine,
An ever, ever Valentine.

What shy young lover has not known
The thrill of being one's alone;
First tender kiss, first tender sigh
And Cupid's shadow passing by?

And as we shared throughtout the years,
All our happiness and tears,
His heart became entwined with mine...
An ever, ever valentine.
