Darrel E. Langford, 89, of Carmi died Monday afternoon April 16, 2001 at the White County Skilled Care Unit. He was born September 27, 1911 in the Wabash Bottoms of White County, the son of Victor and Icey (Hart) Langford. He married Gladys Hargrave on April 14, 1935 in Harrisburg and they just celebrated 66 years of marriage.

Mr. Langford had been a manager at Ainsbrooke for 44 years. He was a lifelong resident of Carmi and graduated from Carmi High School in 1928. He was an avid hunter and dog breeder. He raised and sold English Setters all over the world. He wrote a series of articles of local interest for the Carmi Times. He was a member of Emmanuel United Methodist Church.

He is survived by his wife Gladys; one son and daughter-in-law, Bill and Darlene Langford of Melbourne, FL; three grandchildren, David, Donald, and Douglas Langford; five great-grandchildren, Jason, Justin, Ainslie, Andrew, and Zachary Langford; one brother and sister-in-law, Norman and Dorothy Langford of Norris City, and one sister, Iris Sielaff of DesPlaines; also survived by several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, and two sisters, Murriel Smith, Doris Odegaard.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Friday April 20, 2001 at the Kittinger-Fair Funeral Home in Carmi with burial in Kuykendall Cemetery. Visitation will be on Thursday April 19, 2001 from 5-8 p.m. at the funeral home
