While Birdman and Avenger were rescuing the youngster who would become Birdboy, the boy's seafaring father swam to a nearby island. Unfortunately, it was FEAR's headquarters. The man was discovered by several FEAR agents. They brought him to Number One.

"It is too bad that you have discovered our secret headquarters," Number One said. "Now you can never leave."

Weeks later, Birdman, Birdboy, and Avenger were inside their volcanic lair, when they received an urgent transmission.

"It's Falcon 7!" Birdman said. He turned on the TV screen so that he could communicate with his chief.

"Birdman," Falcon 7 said. "We have reason to believe that the Barracuda has joined FEAR as one of their agents."

"The Barracuda a member of the Foreign Enemy Agents Reserve?" Birdboy asked. "He wouldn't join them unless--"

"Unless they're holding your father against his will," Birdman realized.

"There's no other explanation," Birdboy replied. "And if I know the Barracuda, he joined that organization just so he could finish Dad off."

"Let's go!" Birdman exclaimed. "We have to take our chances! B-i-r-d-man!"

"B-i-r-dboy!"

The winged heroes flew off, accompanied by Avenger.

"There it is below," Birdman said. "FEAR's island headquarters."

But the FEAR agents and the Barracuda were ready for them. They fired a cannon at the three. Birdboy moved out of the way, but Birdman and Avenger were easily subdued. Once they landed on the ground, they were brought inside and locked up with Birdboy's father.

"It's too bad you were captured," the captain said sadly.

"And I've been out of the sun too long," Birdman revealed. "My powers are fading. But your son is here. He can save us."

"My son is alive?" the man asked in disbelief. "The Barracuda and the FEAR agents told me he was dead. By the way, my name's Carlyle Baxter."

Birdboy knew he had to rescue his father and friends. He flew into the sun for a recharge. Then he fired solar blasts at the fortress, and entered.

"I want to see my father!" he said firmly.

"But of course," Number One said. He brought the three prisoners out. Then the Barracuda showed up.

"Now," the Barracuda said. "I can knock off the Baxters, and FEAR can destroy Birdman and Avenger!"

"Not if I can help it!" Birdboy snapped. He took Carlyle's hand. "Hold on, Dad, we're flying out!"

He flew into the air, holding his father's hand. Birdman and Avenger followed. After Birdboy set his father on the ground, he and Birdman flew into the path of the sun. Birdman's strength was restored. Quickly, he and Birdboy bombarded FEAR's headquarters with solar blasts.

The villains all headed for the Barracuda's sub. But they were soon surrounded by the Harbor Patrol and Falcon 7.

Birdboy and Carlyle prepared to leave on one of the boats. Before leaving, Birdboy removed his wings and mask.

"I won't be needing these anymore," he said. "This is good-by, Birdman and Avenger. But I won't forget you."

"Avenger and I won't forget you either," Birdman answered.

Man and eagle watched their friends sail away. Then they returned to their volcano.

Some time afterwards, Birdman got a letter. Birdboy had remembered that his name was Jordan Baxter. He was now attending school, and was elected president of his class. He ended the letter with a resolution to be just like Birdman when he grew up.
