Another Son

Bertha Haag Breeden gave birth to a son, Jimmy Gordon, in 1938. This son was placed in Holston Home Orphanage by Bertha and her husband Clarence Breeden. Gordon, as he came to be called, was adopted by Charles and Eldridge (Baxter) Smelcer. His name was then changed to Charles Gordon. Gordon grew up in Dandridge Tn. and married Vicky Arvella Talley, who had grown up in the neighboring town of White Pine. Vicky's parents were Arvel and Emma (Haag) Talley. The couple were unaware that they shared a grandfather, in Marshall Haag, until later.
